I never understand trades involving players for coaches..granted this is a draft pick and not for 2 years, but Id almost guarantee whoever that player is ends up with Boston longer than Rivers is with the Clippers given how NBA coaches get run all the time

I don't know. I heard Danny Ainge would coach and I think that would be a temporary thing until they find a permanent replacement so he isn't doing two jobs at once.

OMG the Sixers traded their 1st round pick next year...
I really wanted them to tank this year. This is terrible. They traded Jrue Holiday there is no way they are going to be good... What the hell |

Celtics-Mavs-Hawks ended up swapping around their first round pick players.
Mavs traded their #13 pick (Kelly Olynyk) in return for the Cs #16 pick (Lucas Nogueira) and then swapped Nogueira to the Hawks in return for the Hawks #18 (Shane Larkin) and #44 picks. Mavs also gained 2 future 2nd round picks while lost a player from the whole process. Last edited by Emperor Smeat; 06-27-2013 at 10:23 PM. |

Celtics get a few other players as well but all are either just as salary dumps or as sign-and-trade players. Bill Simmons hates that Gerald Wallace was included since he's owed around $30 million in guaranteed money and makes him almost untradeable in any future deal. |

Cleveland is farkin retarded. They always talk about getting a bigman to play with Kyrie, then pass on Noel.
76ers are just as retarded, trading away an established young talent for the unknown in Noel and a pick next year. Guaranteed to suck this season. |

Also, i know he's just a second round pick, but I do think the lakers found a good stretch 4 in Ryan Kelly.

Doc Rivers was really being kind of an asshole here. I'll admit to being a bit of a Grantland fanboy so I might be a bit biased but it's quite obvious what happened. Doc Rivers signed an extension, the Celtics organization decided to rebuild, and Doc Rivers decided he'd rather be on a team that was already full of established talent instead of being a part of the rebuild process. I hate when people do the "There's much more to the story" and then they don't elaborate at all. I'm thinking there probably isn't more to the story. Doc Rivers knew what he was doing and where he was going. Simmons is right but at the same time it's not like Doc Rivers is going to tell the truth to the media because they'd blow it completely out of proportion. It's simple. Doc Rivers wants to coach a team that's good now, not a team that will be good in 5-10 years. That's fine, he's just being untruthful and defensive about it. |

By the way, it's just a bit of a dick move anyway for the former coach of the Celtics to call the biggest Celtics fan on the entire planet an idiot. That would be like Patrick Stewart kicking tb1 in the balls on national television.

It's crazy how players/coaches will go to the "he didn't play" excuse against Simmons, when he basically researched and wrote the Basketball bible.
