I did quite enjoy putting teams together for this. How's about another go-round?

NEW CHALLENGE:

While everyone has been busy dealing with all this stuff with Darkseid and Unicron and the Foot Clan, Kang the Conqueror has made an alliance with Brainiac-13, and the two time-traveling supervillains have wiped out all of the heroes and villains from the present-day timeline! Assemble a team of heroes or villains from different time periods (past or future) to restore history! Time-travelers are allowed, but only if they're not from present-day.

I know he hangs out in the "now" but I figured he'd count since he came from the future.

Jonah Hex
Jason Blood/The Demon
Kal-El (Kingdom Come)
Captain America (before 'Capsicle' days)
James Howlett

This team doesn't seem for the job, though, even with an older stronger Superman.

#1:

SPOILER: show

Cable

Cable has a lot of experience with time travel, and with living and surviving in worlds/times where the bad guys have "won". He's got that hardline military-like attitude that would be essential to get this team together and save the day.... no matter how long it takes.

#2:

SPOILER: show

Brainiac-5

Who else to recruit but someone who could at least match Brainiac-13 in intelligence? He would be an invaluable asset in outfitting the team with technology, and attempting to counteract any B13 tech that would be an issue in their attempts to save the timeline. He can be a bit of a dick, but when the chips are down, you want someone capable of REALLY thinking and planning things through.

#3:

SPOILER: show

Green Lantern (Alan Scott)

Now that Cable has got himself a big thinker, he does what he does best, he gets a BIG GUN. Just let him be what he is, a sheer force of willpower that won't quit and who can do massive damage.

#4:

SPOILER: show

Captain America

Cable might be the one to gather them all together, but Cap will be the glue that will hold them together. He will be the rallying point, the symbol of hope, for the team and any allied forces they can muster. Also, I think him and Green Lantern would get along famously and make a great team.

#5:

SPOILER: show

Booster Gold

"The Greatest Hero The World Has Never Known". AKA The Wildcard. Booster could be the essential key to this entire thing. To the world at large, and to the history books, he is an egomaniac who is more into the hero game for fame and fortune. In reality, he has actually saved the "Time Stream" numerous times and has a lot of experience as a time traveling hero.

He would be underestimated by all, to the detriment of the villains. Booster would probably have to seek out a place with the team, as they probably would not come looking to recruit him. If he can then keep his head on straight and not let his brash personality get the better of him, he could be the man that eventually saves the day.

I'm gonna assume that I also can't use future versions of existing heroes, so something like Superman from DC One Million is not on the table.

So, with that in mind......

#1:

SPOILER: show

Brainiac 5

Like Lock Jaw said, who better to counteract the unfathomable intelligence of Brainiac than another Brainiac? Massive intellect, capable of incredible technology, and an excellent strategist, B-5 would be a perfect commander for the team.

#2:

SPOILER: show

Black Knight (Sir Percy of Scandia)

A hell of a close-quarters combatant, BK's got near-impervious armor and a sword that can cut through damn near anything. He's resistant to magic, too, though that probably wouldn't come into play since B-13 and Kang aren't big magic users. I was gonna use Shining Knight in this spot, but I'm pretty sure BK's a little bit more powerful, and plus I wanted to mix it up and use a Marvel character.

#3:

SPOILER: show

Terry McGinnis/Batman Beyond

It's fucking Batman. I mean, yeah, he's not Bruce Wayne, but still, it's fucking Batman. More to the point, it's Batman with even cooler high-tech weapons to get close to Kang or B-13 unnoticed. And even if his own toys can't cut it against the time-traveling supervillains, Brainiac-5 could upgrade his arsenal to get the job done.

Plus, come on, it's fucking Batman.

#4:

SPOILER: show

Miss America

A kinda obscure one from the Golden Age, she's able to transmute matter on a molecular level. So get her close enough, and she can turn all of B-13's circuitry into mud, or turn Kang's weapons into dust, or water, or Pop-Tarts, or whatever the hell she wants. While it's not as impressive as a 50-megaton punch to the face or blowing them away with a gigantic energy blast, the ability to turn pretty much anything into pretty much anything else is a ridiculously useful power.

#5:

SPOILER: show

Mon-El

So far the team's in need of a good heavy hitting front-line fighter, and Mon-El fits the bill nicely. Strength, speed, and invulnerability to rival Superman's is never a bad decision, not to mention he's not affected by Kryptonite or red solar radiation (though he's susceptible to lead poisoning for whatever reason). He's also a former Green Lantern, and I imagine he may be able to convince the Guardians to give him his ring back in a time of huge crisis. This one may be a bit of a stretch considering he's from the present day, but most of Mon-El's adventures come from working with the Legion of Super-Heroes in the 31st Century, so I'm gonna count it.
