Personally I am rooting for someone new. Screw "paying homage" with a "new twist" on an "old villain".

It was revealed several months ago by the writers that it would be one of five classic villians that had already been used in TOS and I recall one of them was Gary Mitchell. The only thing is that he was apparently used in the IDW comic which links the 2 films and dies but not sure under what cicumstances though. That would be a good enough reason for him wanting revenge and as for that final clip it appears to be the reverse angle meaning Spock is on the outside looking in.

My favorite comment that I saw online...
"When the Enterprise is ashes... you have my permission to set phasers to kill." I'm just hoping that the "bad guy" does not turn out to be Khan. I hope that there is absolutely nothing to do with Khan in this film. The writers and Abrams had a reletively clean slate and could have done anything they wanted for this 2nd film. It would be such a shame to "reboot" or "reimagine" Star Trek II. From seeing this teaser trailer, I'm happy to believe that this film has nothing to do with Khan, despite some comments online of people still believing that due to dialog in the trailer that this looks like Khan. The most fundamental piece of evidence, Cumberbatch doesn't seem like he would be an east indian dude named Khan. |

Also keep in mind that orignally Benicio Del To Ro was originally cast to play the role but ended turning down for some reason probly due to it conflicting with another project he was in.

Him wearing a starfleet uniform could narrow it down to Garth of Izar, Gary Mitchell (Alice Eve could be Denhar, but could be just a red herring and she's Chapel), or maybe Finnegan Kirk's old nemesis/bully from the Academy days, or Finn from Court Martial episode. I won't consider the final scene from that Japan trailer until it is seen on American screens. Probably means they cut it from the film and they screwed up. |

Or, apparently, Kirk and Spock becoming friends.

So the villain's name is supposedly John Harrison but it's likely just a code name and Alica Eve has been revealed to be playing Carol Marcus might have to go see that nine minute preview so I can get my fix till May.

Alice Eve playing Carol Marcus doesn't make sense. Kirk would have to be gay to let Alice Eve get away.

Not really more informative than the prior teaser.

Not a whole lot it just makes us ask more questions and that is very much typical of Abrams and Lindelof they clearly like to mess with the fanboys.

The preview before the Hobbit was better than the whole of that film.

Not enough Cumberbatch.
Hero is gay for Cumberbatch, but then again, who isn't? |

i dunno i want to be really excited but in the trailer i saw i am pretty sure there was a shot of the enterprise like rising out of an ocean or something and that kind of made me cringe

Yeah, the only thing that's throwing me off is the lack of space. Like, where is it. Where is space

I did presume the water liftoff was from the same circumstances because of the bitching that everything happens on Earth and there's no space or whatever. If that's not the case, that's not the case. But the Enterprise does appear to be going down at some point in this movie. |

my complaint with the water lift-off isn't even that it's not in space, it's just a fucking stupid idea
also i don't really need to see the enterprise crash again, y'know. about the only redeeming thing in all of generations was the saucer crash so |

no i know you weren't talking about me but i was just saying that my issue with it wasn't that
kind of like "i agree, but not for the same reasons" or whatever it doesn't matter, the point is: it's stupid and i don't want to see the enterprise crash again |

OK "new" enterprise notice how close, and large, the necelles on the new Enterprise are in comparison to the smaller, and further apart nacelles of the one on the left. Now, I'm not denying that's a shot of the Enterprise falling to Earth, it certainly is. Just judging from the few shots I've seen, it doesn't look like the Enterprise. See nacelles: in comparison to check out those tiny nacelles that are years apart in comparison to those big, close honkers of the Enterprise. IN MY OPINION BOYS, not the Enterprise |
