I've been listening to Load and Reload quite a lot lately so I could review them on a website. Both albums got 4/5 from me. Seriously.
Given enough listens the songs have grown on me and their still pretty fucking heavy and crunchy. Especially Reload. Songs like 'Attitude' and 'Bad Seed' are really ballsy and rockin', but nobody really seems to know about them coz their like, lesser songs on the 'shit album' or summit. People should see past Load and Reloads reputations as 'bad albums' and really give them a few spins. The material is amazing. |

Except for 'Low Man's Lyric' on Reload. That song is kinda tacky...

st anger was a sellout album. "raw" sound as was the trend at the time, along with no solos. absolutely atrocious.

I've always enjoyed Dave and Megadeth far more than Metallica.
I also support the choice of Belladonna over both Mustaine and Hetfield. |

True, Anthrax is far better than both Metallica and Megadeth.

To be fair, my personal preference of Anthrax over Metallica is just that: a personal preference.
I do like the early stuff of Metallica's, and I consider it some of the best stuff ever. I also like some Exodus, but I understand why they're ranked #5 in the big 5 thrash bands. Anthrax's role as #4 is as much bad luck as anything else. |

What does that have to do with who's better? I don't think that factors, though I'm sure Metallica appreciated the help.

Is Anthrax in the vein of Metallica and Megadeth's style?

The Big 4 (I often include Exodus, Kirk Hammett's old band, as being part of the Big 5) American Thrash Bands are Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax.
And they're linked, for the most part. Kirk of Metallica is formerly of Exodus. Of course Dave Mustaine is ex-Metallica, but he started Megadeth with Slayer's Kerry King, IIRC. And there's the bit of Anthrax helping out 'tallica get established on the east coast. |

They did the opposite of taking risks. They turned their albums into, essentially, "flavor of the week" deals. But hey, it's not a bad thing, either. It just happens that Metallica was kind of a one-trick pony to begin with, and attempting to alter their style revealed a lot more flaws. And virgins everywhere had one less band to wangst to. |
