Favourite PPV set designs?
Looking back, the 2002-2004 era in particular had some really neat ones, even for B shows.
For me, the old 2002-ish Backlash set is my favourite. The KOTR set with the chair was neat too. Anyone else? |

I actually prefer the sparse sets of 1996-1999. Except for that ridiculous In Your House set.

My favorite WWE ppv set was a PPV that I attended in person. I'll let you guys guess first.

The pyramid on stage was insane. Can't get any bigger or outlandish than that. |

That is pretty cool.
I like the set up from KOTR 1999 as seen here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ivw33CrpwSA I used to love tuning into sunday night heat the day of the PPVs to see the setup they would have |

The 1998 generic PPV set is also pretty classic.

The Backlash swinging hooks were the first to come to mind. Actually think its funny, for as much as WWE like to blow themselves (and rightly so) about quality of production, it was WCW who did a better job with sets and theming their PPVs long before them.
While not spectacular, the Invasion set with two entrances helped the feel of the show. |

Backlash was my first thought too. Royal Rumble 99 (was that the year it was at MSG and had the bricks and the car?) was pretty great too.

Rumble 2000. Awesome Rumble all things considered. Debut of Taz v. Kurt Angle. Awesome Tag Team Tables match w/ Hardyz v/ Dudleys. Great street fight with Foley/HHH for the Title. Decent Rumble match with Rock winning controversially. And a really cool set for NYC/MSG.

I wouldn't say it was my favourite one, but there was something about the Insurrextion set I liked.

Chose WM XX mostly because of the secondary trons on the floor at the top of the stage during entrances.

Not a specific arena set but really liked the setup used whenever the WWE would run ppvs at MSG especially the Royal Rumble. Barely had any space for lavish decorations but the arena setup gave it a unique view compared to almost every other arena the WWE ran shows at.

Original 1999-2001 SD! set with the "ovaltron" was pretty cool too before the fist set.

This. Instantly popped into my head as soon as I read the thread title.
Also, DAMN iNATOR's above comment. The original SD! set was the bee's knees. Loved the Ovaltron, and just the blue theme. Man, I miss the old days of rasslin'. This is going to turn into one of my looking at old wrestling shit on YouTube nights. |
