100%. They were given the benefit of the doubt and proceeded to throw it back in our faces. Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman are going to have to be pretty stellar to get the momentum they squandered back.

Feel like I'll still rush out to see Wonder Woman because Gal Gadot looks good and I love "wartime pieces", but I am definitely going to hold off on this one until I hear the reactions.

They came back after Iron Man 2 because everything done previously was good. Audiences were willing to give the benefit of the doubt. On the other side of the spectrum, take a look at The Hunger Games. When they split the last book (the shortest of the three) into two movies, it was pretty blatant what they were doing. The audience was already invested in the franchise so they were going to see this thing through, the studio thought. Then they released a movie that was very subpar. Did great in its first weekend, but word of mouth caused there to be a big drop week-to-week. Oh, it made some decent coin, but it was nowhere near the amount that was expected. (Sound familiar?) The fourth movie was also "meh" and made even less money. Any plans for prequels/sequels/spinoffs went out the window. Not even worth a try. Their goose was cooked. It didn't even take a focus group to tell them the franchise was dead. Warners is in serious trouble. Even a really fun Suicide Squad won't be enough. They need to put a string of films out that really strike a chord with audiences that isn't a carbon copy of Marvel. Thats quite alot to ask for. |

Can't wait to see Wonder Woman. She was awesome in BvS. Really hope people don't ignore it because it's a woman superhero movie.

Also, if being a carbon copy of Marvel is to be avoided, they arent off to a great start when the "Big Bad" is Darkseid who looks pretty similar to Thanos.

Super wish they forget Aqua Man is a person. Just leads to water spots randomly being placed in the Justice League movies when it's not needed.

You know its bad when the joke version of Aquaman from Entourage piques your interest more than the real one.

I'm pretty interested in this Aquaman, I like his look and am interested in how they do Atlantis. Don't think they are in any trouble being a carbon copy of Marvel because Dawn of Justice was far from anything like a Marvel movie. Feel like Marvel has set the precedent for what a comic book movie is and DC made a movie that didn't follow that precedent and I don't think that's a problem.

Really wish people actually knew more about Aquaman and his mythos/powers... Like, seriously, people need to stop with the stereotypical crap they got from the Justice Friends cartoon and shit. Aquaman is as strong and invulnerable as Wonder Woman, and probably as great a warrior as her too. The dude has gone toe to toe with Superman in the past for Christ's sake. He's not just the guy who talks to fish...

What is Justice Friends? All my wonderful knowledge comes from Smallville and that show kicked ass.

In the same boat, Lock Jaw. I read quite a few issues and enjoyed the hell out of them, but I've gotten so far behind on pretty much everything at this point that I'm lucky to read my usuals.

"You snooze you lose".
Other than Darkseid though, what big villains does DC have that could possibly carry a DC cinematic universe? My minds gone completely blank. |

Yeah, I'm thinking more that "whole Earth is in danger" kinda big. Certainly not Al Ghul or the Joker, whom any member of the Justice League other than Batman could probably kill with one hand.

Makes sense. When I watched the initial trailers, I always felt that there was a mismatch as far as tone went. Kind of rubbed me the wrong way. |

Starro the Conqueror would be a good villain... The one seen in REBELS comic book.... Though invading alien armada had been done to death....

Crime Syndicate would be pretty cool if they decide to play with the Mulitverse.

Ugh, I hope not. Don't like that show but mainly because of the animation. Really don't think this movie needs to be real funny though.

Crime Syndicate and Sinestro/Yellow Lantern Corps are top suggestions though. Ditto with Amanda Waller/Checkmate although as behind the scenes villain entity like Luthor. |

Brainiac would be a great villain for the Justice League to fight. Dude doesn't get enough love outside the comics. He's every bit as terrifying in concept as Darkseid.

Would be "cool" if they could do Starro without it being "derivative", since he was the first threat the Justice League fought.
R.E.B.E.L.S. did a good "re-imagining" where they "revealed" that all the Starros seen before were just "scouts", and their "master" was an alien who ruled galaxies and was now coming himself with his huge ass armada from all the galaxies he rules..... Was a good series.... |
