Help bolster my 3DS collection
A call to arms for my fellow gamers. I have been incredibly late to the 3DS party, and would like to hear your input on the essential titles I should be paying attention to.
As of right now I only have a Link Between Worlds and Pokemon Y. Both fantastic titles, granted, but I want to experience the full gamut of what the handheld has to offer. I have fallen off the map with my coverage of the system since it came out, but I know there are tons of games I am super excited about. I'm pretty open to most genres and IPs, huge developers and indie alike. Even if you have a quick "top 5 must-have games" list, lemme see it. Let's have at 'er. Cheers ears and donkey tears. \_0__/ \__0_/ Regards, road doggy dogg |

Project X Zone for sure. Super Street Fighter IV is pretty the shit too if you're into that.

Yeah need to grab Mario Kart obvs. What is Project X? I'll look into it. Can't stand most fighting games so I think I'll pass on Street Fighter.
Is the DKC game on 3DS good? I've heard it's better than the Wii one, which I really enjoyed so I will probably grab that. |

Also picked up Shovel Knight last night because I've heard nothing but absolute admiration for it. Very fun so far. Solid purchase.

I got my 3DS second-hand ($40, can't beat that) and the firmware was already updated past the point that flashcards would work. Unless they've figured out a way to get them working again (I haven't looked in a month or two) so no R4 for me

I've got one or two that work on mine, didn't even realise that was a thing, but it'll explain why one appears dead on it. Learn something new every day.

I think the 3DS firmware needs to be between version 4.1 and 4.5 for flashcards to work. I'm sure within the next year or so the flashcard guys will figure out a way to get around it but in the meantime all of us filthy pirates who missed the boat are SOL.

The only Shin Megami Tensei game I've played was Devil Survivor for the DS. Are the other games in the series similar to that, or was that more of an outlier? I really enjoyed that one, sunk a lot of hours into it

Is Bravely Default just an oddly-titled Final Fantasy game? Sounds hot and I've been hearing mad hype about it

If you like Animal Crossing or sim-like games, Animal Crossing New Leaf or the recent Tomodachi Life might be good choices.
The DKC Returns game on the 3DS is also really good. Resident Evil Revelations is also another good game although is the best with second circle pad attachment More like a spiritual successor type game. Borrows a lot from several past Final Fantasy games and might end up as the basis for future Final Fantasy games from how much Square Enix was happy with its reception. |

Picked it up and started playing it, feels fun so far. The whole "storing BP and unleashing it for multiple attacks" sounds interesting. Of course, I'm only like 2 hours into the game so no doubt it gets even more complex as well.
Picked up some Scribblenauts DC game or some shit, it was $7. Saw DKC game for like $35 and wanted to grab it, but can prolly get it cheaper used somewhere |

Any 3DS aficionados? How does StreetPass work?
I get the whole... if your 3DS is on (even in sleep) and you walk by someone else with it on, it picks up their signal and you get data from them. Cool feature etc etc. I get that part. I just don't get how like... if I have a game that has StreetPass features, does simply "getting someone else's StreetPass info" unlock the features in the game? Do they need to have the game as well? Like I have Bravely Default, you can rebuild your shitty town or w/e but if you have more StreetPass peeps then construction projects go quicker. If I simply pass some kid at McDonalds and get their SP crap, does my village automatically get 1 more person, or does that kid need to have the same game etc? Technology scares me.................. apparently |
