Should each WWE performer have a "off season"

In the wake of the CM Punk fall out, do you think each performer have a guaranteed amount of time off, be it a full month a year whether they are hurt or not, or perhaps x amount of days off.

It would may focus writers to actually plan shit out well in advance, with the downside being that you won't have another year long title run. It'd give the wrestlers time to heal mentally and physically.

Sadly, I think this needs to be on a case by case basis. It would be to hard to tell (Just giving a example) Orton that he gets March off. In January and February you have 4 or 5 main eventers go down to injury and Orton needs to be there instead of having time off.

There could be a X amount of days off though. Dates can't be guaranteed though. Have it be a write in a chit and see if it gets approved because you can't have everyone taking off during the same time.

I don't think they should since we've seen over the yeara in wrestling and sports that they will ignore injuries and perform.through them

Think the first quarter of the year would be off limits due to the Mania build, but after Mania, the months 8-9 months could easily be divided between the rest.

It would improve morale and would be great for PR at this time, not to mention the well-being of the talent.

They should make it compulsory too, otherwise guys won't take it for risk of being looked over or down on because of it.

That would actually force the company to push guys more than a month and develop main event wrestlers knowing that each wrestler gets a month off.

I think this a wonderful idea. Also they might want to consider pushing the mid to Lower card talent on the B shows. Let the Universe pick the next star from there.

In theory, absolutely given the nature and history of the business. In practice, not so much. "Holiday pay" maybe like every other 9-5 job, every guy has a limited optional period of time they can take off if they choose to, plan in advance how that guy will taken off TV (or publicize it and work it into storylines)

probably an idealistic thing tho, there are always gonna be guys that refuse because of the age old adage of "losing their spot". Don't really see a negative to it being at least an option tho.

just shut the whole company down for a month in like July/August or something would be nice. Create a bit of a need for the product, build to the return. The "last show of the year", say Summerslam, could become a huge show because you have something major happen there as in an end of season gimmick, maybe something built to through the previous months etc. This is all completely off the top of the head strictly from a creative/TV standpoint and I'm sure there are a million reasons why it would be terrible for business that could be pointed out in about 5 seconds but hey.

I always thought having a off season would be epic because I love opening day for any sport. But it would not be such a good business decision and may be hard to put over with a television network.

Said this in another thread but...it wouldn't ever happen due to the economics of it but I'd honestly love it if they have Mania, Raw the night after, and then a month off, returning sometime in May. They can run old PPVs or something in the Raw timeslot for the few weeks its off the air.

The first PPV right after Mania is usually just filled with WM rematches that don't mean anything in the long run, so it's an easy enough month to cut out. Gives everyone a guaranteed month off to heal up from any nagging injuries that they might have had. Obviously guys will still get hurt during other times of the year but I think the guaranteed, standard break would help everyone both physically and also emotionally, not having to be on the road for a month, etc.

Won't happen though. WWE would obviously lose ticket sales, ratings, etc. for a whole month plus they'd be worried about losing casuals who may have tuned in for the Mania build.

Shit, thinking about it more...even as a fan it'd be nice to get that mental health break. Post-WM and Post-SummerSlam both feel like times that WWE totally phones it in from a creative standpoint. No matter how the product is I'd be genuinely eager to tune in for the first Raw of the "new season" after getting a break away from it.

Yes but in staggered intervals so that only a portion of the roster is off at any time and WWE has at least some big stars available to use for their shows. Highly unlikely the WWE would ever consider just shutting down for 2 weeks or a month per year because of sponsors and other contracted stuff as reasons.

Should also expand the breaks to include Creative so that they don't get constantly burnt out and get some refreshed periods in the year.

The post 'Mania thing, as much as its viewed as the finale for the bulk of storylines etc it's probably also a money making period with all the casual viewers coming back and maybe watching for another couple weeks around the PPV. It's not like the lack the necessary talent to replace the main event guys it's just they wont establish anyone as possible new stars so having the top guys off for a while would be a boon in the long run.

This sounds like communism and I just reported this post to the FBI! They should get time off if they are hurt but that's about it. No-one is making them be a wrestler in the WWE and I think they know what they are getting into when they sign that contract with the WWE.

I don't think so, what's the point? These are WWE Superstars!

CM Punk is just a whiny bitch who was never good enough to be the face of the company. He envied Cena and wanted his role. But WWE knew CM Punk wasn't good enough.

The WWE is shady as hell every good cause theY support seems like front to me. If they truly cared about the well-being of their "employees"(another gripe I have) They would recognize the need for time off for performers regardless of if they are injured or not.It seems like the company just chews up wrestlers and spits them out and the mental and physical toll of being on the road cannot be good anyones health

Even if a wrestler feels they can go nonstop they should be made to rest simply because it is in their best interest.

I also wonder have the WWE's s business practices ever really been deeply looked into.

I had a long post ready, but swyped something or other on my phone, so it's gone lol

But I love the idea of having guys able to rest up/maybe not get "stale" without getting hurt. It won't happen, but it should - or it should at least be an option.

Yeah they should have some sort of off-season. Swap out some of the midcarders with NXT guys for periods of time. Send the guys home to Florida for rest and light training.

They shouldn't be given extended period of time off but instead 4-7 days off frequently,

A month of strictly working TV dates might be a 'compromise' of sorts.

Perhaps cutting a weekend of House Shows here and there would work?

just think tna might have it right now, they will tape a bunch of shows at one time and can sign there talent for short time deals so they can work other places the only bad thing is there shows get spoiled.

Why not give the main roster a 1 month break as people have suggested, and use the already alloted timeslots to show ppvs or specials sometimes, but also have a weekly show run for 4 weeks featuring NXT and low card people rarely used. Maybe make it a competition where the top 2 or 3 at the end are given a push into the midcard in the new season.
