No, a good puncher is irrelevant. If The end result is not a knockout, blood or tooth loss it means nothing.

A good puncher is far from that. I loved Scott Hall's punches. They added to his offence instead of these ugly ass punches nowadays.

Just gonna put in that I loved The Octopus/Black Widow. Good move/hold I think...... seemed "deadly"........

A good safe punch is rare these days. Most guys throw forarms and europeans because punchesnare just so damn hard to get right. And octopus? Theres nothing to it. It just looks cooler. |

Roman Reigns.
There's some good arguments for why either of them should win, but the truth is that, as good as AJ was and as compelling as the Women's Revolution is (or whatever it's called now)... I still don't really care much for women's wrestling. Don't get me wrong, the women right now are much more entertaining than they've ever been and I don't find myself skipping female matches like I use to, but I'd still go with Reigns on this one. With the right opponent that guy can have some incredible matches. |

Would love to see STD do a Superman Punch to someone on the top rope like Roman does in the gif.

I hate the superman punch tbh. Regardless of skill, it's just a very boring move, that he overuses terribly. I wonder how many superman punches he has hit in the last two years. It is constant and I can't think of a wrestler that hits another move as much as he hits that one.
The spear is also THE most overused move of all time. And it is his main move. His moveset, for me, is a massive negative, and part of what makes him so cookie cutter. There is nothing unique about Roman Reigns. Maybe that dropkick on the apron? The fans dislike for him goes way deeper than any Daniel Bryan stuff. Sure, that was the spark, but the reason he is booed soundly is because he is so bland and nowhere near good enough for his place on the card and the forced legacy he is building. AJ Lee wasn't great, but she got the right reaction and created a unique character for herself. She was real and comfortable in what she was doing at least. That goes a long way for me in deciding who was better. |

I could teach a trainee to do an octopus in..less than a half hour? Within a day I could have them doing at least a dozen moderately complicated transitions into it.
A punch? A good punch, hell a decent punch, will take weeks or months. A great punch could take years to really perfect. Strikes are much more difficult than holds to learn. |

I was watching the European finals of Bate vs Dunn. Bate cold cocked Dunn, and they did about a billion high octane spots, and that was the one that stuck out to me because it was the best punch I'd seen at least in current day wrestling.
Dest you're hitting the nail on the head as far as I'm concerned. When everyone was singing RVDs praises in the late 90s and early 2000s all I could see was his weak punch/forearms and it made him less appealing. If you have a fantastic punch it's now a seamless part of your offence where guys don't need to bump hard but can sell and tell more of a story. |

And he's 19.
TBF, he probably did just twat him though. They're both in the British Strong Style stable in PROGRESS after all. |

he for sure may have just plugged him, but was skilled enough not to really hurt the guy and it still has to LOOK good. I mean Terry Funk's awesome punches according to Mick Foley was just him hammering someone as hard as he could in the forehead.

My vote is for Reigns.
It's well documented here that I've never really been the biggest AJ fan but I do genuinely believe that Reigns is a better wrestler than AJ. I feel that "current Reigns" has hurt him when it comes to this vote. I feel that if this was asked during Reign's Shield days, this vote would be much closer. Hell, I actually think Reigns would have won. Reigns has had some pretty good matches that I remember well, whereas with AJ, I really can't remember any of her matches. Reigns has also shown more variety compared to AJ, when it comes to character. I can only think of three for AJ compared to around four or five for Reigns. I also think Reigns has the better move set. It's been mentioned in this thread, but Reigns' Superman Punch is so much better than AJ's Black Widow. Reigns can really make that punch look legit and make you say "holy shit!" depending on how he hits it. AJ's octopus is nothing really. I can't recall every being surprised by a sudden octopus, whereas I have with a sudden punch. Overall, Reigns' moveset is more "wrestling moves" whereas AJ's was more "basic kicks and submissions". The problem right now is that Reigns doesn't really get the chance to show off his moveset, much like Cena during his rise to be "face of the company". Heel Reigns really showed off his moveset. Finally and most importantly, Reigns is the hotter of the two. |

She was an interesting character in a time when most of the female characters were piss breaks.
I mean I obviously like someone like Beth Phoenix better, but AJ started a trend of the women being featured more in a more interesting way. Was it perfect? Of course not, it's the WWE, but she definitely didn't just "play it safe" like everyone else. She made a name for herself. Reigns is better, but I don't really like him. I like AJ. |

If it was AJ vs Trish Stratus or Mickey James for instance, I'd go with those 2 ladies over her. But I'd take them over Roman as well. As they are both more effective in their roles.
Unfortunately Roman is positioned as top babyface in the company and fails on that front. |

Today's lines aren't as clear cut as they used to be back in the day. When you're a kid, you definitely boo this and you definitely cheer that. We're not kids anymore. People are allowed to have different opinions. Roman is for the kids. I was going to start going much deeper, but I don't have the energy at the moment, and I think you know what I mean. Also, John Cena. |

Oh no doubt she wasn't much of a worker. I just liked her more as a character.
Again, I went against my usual criteria where I would have chosen Roman, but he hasn't been put up against any substantial lol. Bret Hart had to go through Shawn Michaels and Roddy Piper. Savage had to beat Bret Hart and the Undertaker (and someone else I forget) to progress to hall of fame. Roman has had Lex Luger, Great Khali and AJ Lee. It was my protest against the system. |

Agree that AJ's in-ring content falls apart when you analyze the body of her work. AJ takes this on charisma.

I remember AJ Lee having good matches with WWE Paige and Kaitlyn.
Singles matches wise I remeber Roman Reigns having good matches against Daniel Bryan, AJ Styles, and maybe Cesaro. |

You cant disqualify tag wrestling as a rule.. he worked those matches like every one else and he was crazy over when he broke free and started working singles. Everyone wanted him pushed to the moon. It was unanimous. Dont rewrite history. |
