It's just crazy, was pretty sad about this all. I mean I still am but a bunch of other emotions entered the mix too. Like the fact that he (possibly she but most like he) killed his own son. Also, doesn't Benoit have like 2 other kids. So they both lost their parents and brother, which I don't think any of us can really imagine what it feels like. Benoit was one of my favorite wrestlers, but I dunno if he did do it I could never respect a man like that. As KK said, got to just wait for more info before I get to caught up.

I am just speculating here, but does any1 think he was fustrated with the way his wrestling career was going? He was supposed to get a big push on RAW but it was shot down because some felt he wasnt Main Event material and he was sent to ECW.

First, I just dont know what to think. I really hope he didn't do this to his family, I hope his wife didn't either. I mean, I find it strange there was no prior evidence or belief that something like this would happen and NOBODY knew. If this really was a murder suicide situation, I would think somebody would have at least had a feeling of it first. Like, "Yeh, I know him and his wife were really going through some hard times." Anything suggesting conflict, but there is nothing. Its just toally random. I'm at a total loss in every way. I'm saddened that he's gone, sad that his family is gone, and confused over all the circumstances surrounding the situation.

I hope he didn't, I hope more than anything he didn't, but (and this isn't always the best reasoning) history suggests that he did.

WWE.com is the only one who's reporting that it's been ruled a double murder-suicide.
Everywhere else I've read has only said that it's being investigated as a double murder-suicide. I really hope it wasn't. It would definitely change the way we look at Benoit. The way anyone looks at Benoit. It's just that the AP and the Atlanta Journal-Constitutional have some pretty grim reports. http://www.ajc.com/metro/content/met...625benoit.html Pro wrestler, family found dead in Fayetteville home By Saeed Ahmed, Kathy Jefcoats The Atlanta-Journal Constitution Published on: 06/25/07 In its ongoing attempt to constantly outdo itself, the World Wrestling Entertainment recently staged the "death" of its chairman in an apparent limo explosion. Monday night, the largest wrestling organization in the world grappled with a real-life murder mystery: What led to the apparent murder-suicide of superstar wrestler Chris Benoit, his wife and child inside their expansive Fayetteville home? Officials have not disclosed how the family died, other than to say the deaths did not involve a gun. "The details, when they come out," said Fayette County District Attorney Scott Ballard, "are going to prove a little bizarre." Deputies checking on the family at the behest of Benoit's employer discovered the bodies of the 40-year-old wrestler, his wife, Nancy Benoit, 43, and their 7-year-old son, Daniel, on Monday afternoon at their home on Green Meadow Lane. Benoit, a Canada native, maintained a residence in metro Atlanta from the time he wrestled for the now-defunct Ted Turner-owned World Championship Wrestling organization. Most recently, Benoit performed as part of World Wrestling Entertainment. He was scheduled to appear in a pay-per-view title match Sunday night, but was a no-show because of a "family emergency," the WWE said during the broadcast. His employers, apparently worried, asked deputies to check in on the family, leading to the discovery, said Sheriff's Lt. Tommy Pope. Murders are rare in Fayette County, particularly so in areas like Green Meadow Lane, a rural stretch of the county where multi-acre mansion-style homes dot the landscape. In 2006, the sheriff's office didn't investigate a single murder. Fans tried to cope with the news Monday evening as the blogosphere erupted in reader disbelief. "Obviously, all sorts of speculation are running rampant but I have talked to so many people and nobody really knows," said Bryan Alvarez, who runs Figurefour Weekly, a wrestling newsletter and Web site, from Linwood, Wash. Benoit began his career in Calgary more than 20 years ago. He wrestled in Japan before moving back to North America. While working in Atlanta with WCW, he met his wife, Nancy, who managed several wrestlers and went by the stage name, "Woman." At the time, her then-husband drew up a script that had the couple involved in a relationship as part of an ongoing storyline. Soon after, the two became romantically involved in real life and married. Benoit has two other children from a prior relationship. He joined WWE in 2000, and four years later, won its world heavyweight championship. The family had moved into the Fayetteville neighborhood last summer, said neighbor Alaina Jones. None of the neighbors recalled seeing police at the house before. Monday night, about half a dozen cars idled on the circular driveway. Deputies stood guard outside the wrought-iron gates of the residence. A car full of youngsters who stopped to gawk at the scene were pulled out by deputies, frisked and sent on their way. The Monday night broadcast of WWE's "Raw" on the USA Network was supposed to have been a who-dunit into the "death" of Chairman Vince McMohan, whose limousine burst into a fiery explosion moments after he stepped into it after a bout in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., two weeks ago. The organization scrapped the storyline following Benoit's death, and instead televised a three-hour retrospective on Benoit's career. And unlike the two-page, hyperbole-filled news release it sent out after its chairman's "death," the statement announcing Benoit's real-life passing was curt and matter-of-fact: "Chris Benoit and his family were found dead in their home. There are no further details at this time." If it did turn out Benoit killed his wife and son (it would have HAD to have been a crime of passion... i.e. he just went crazy), that would be one heel turn for the ages... |

After hearing how much Benoit cared for his kids from the other wrestlers...its hard for me to really believe the he would murder his own son. I refuse to believe that he did it cause it would crush me more than anything. Ive looked up to Benoit and this would hurt me more than anything has in a very long while.

As of now none of us know what happened in the Benoit house. So for now i'll just say that he was one of the best wrestlers today..everytime he wrestled no matter who it was, honest to god I would look forward to it because I knew Benoit wouldn't let me down. Just as I type this Vince is actually in the ring! So i'm guessing they might drop the death angle.

Another update on Benoit murder/suicide by Dave Meltzer Sources in the Fayette County Police Department are now working under the theory that Chris Benoit killed Nancy on Saturday, son Daniel on Sunday, and then killed himself earlier today. Benoit was found dead in his weight room. Nancy was found dead in the lving room. Daniel was found dead in his bedroom, accordig t an unnamed source in the department. Lt. Tommy Pope told ABC News "the instruments of death were located on the scene," but didn't specify what those were or where they were found. Pope said the department was not actively searching for any suspects outside the house. Ugh. |

I mean, I'm usually cynical as fuck but...something just doesn't seem to add up. This is a tragedy no matter what has happened, but my god. |

This is all just mind blowing right now. But if they are saying that it is a double murder suicide, I would almost want to hear that someone got to his wife and son, and maybe Chris just couldn't take it and took his own life. But no matter what, what ever happened is not going to be usual. I still can't believe it.

I would have to say, however, that if he did do it (I shudder and pray he didn't), the timeline of everything makes sense. The stories say his wife and son died on Saturday. Perhaps when he called the WWE about that family emergency, he was totally telling the truth, in some really twisted and morbid and sinister way.
And by Monday, after a couple of days of realizing what he had done and what he had thrown away, he might have killed himself too. I really hope the two above paragraphs are false, but I think we can't help but contemplate that possibility now. If it was a murder-suicide, though, there has to be a note somewhere... |

OKay, these two statements are conflicting and from the same article on foxnews.com...

Well... you can forget about ECW and SmackDown being tribute shows now, surely? There's no way WWE can plaster their TV shows with gushing tributes to a suspected murderer.
It will be a very tricky situation for them this week. I'm guessing we get "Best Of" shows for the rest of the week. |

Sometimes, when you snap, you snap. The human mind is a frightfully fascinating thing, capable of intense generosity and sinister malevolence. When people go crazy, they do things they would normally ever even ponder doing.
I don't know what else to do but to speculate, even though that might be considered disrespectful. This is definitely a tragedy no matter how it turned out it happened. It'll be interesting to see how the public reaction goes from here on out. And if it does turn out to be a worst case scenario, I can't imagine how WWE public relations is going to begin to salvage that mess. |
