M. Night Shyamalan returns.

Alright. M. Night Shyamalan has reappeared on the film scene after an 18 month absence. During that time, Touchstone Pictures a subcompany of Disney, dumped him from his distribution contract. Warner Bros. picked him up and is now distributing the film. He's writing a book about it.

Now, Paul Giamatti got the lead role. And after reading some early reviews from people like us and pros from TV and newspapers, they are saying this should be a pass.

Before I make my decision to go see this or not, I'd like to hear what your reviews are.

I have no desire to see this. Paul Giamatti is awesome, but the story sounds meh.

I think it'll be alright. He said there's no revealing twist at the end like many of his films. That it's a steady moving story for the most part. I know it became cool to bash his stuff, but I've always (apart from The Village) thought his stuff was good.

He was on Stern last week and told the whole story about leaving Disney.. He gave them the script and they hated it.. After he has made them over 200 billion dollars with some pretty strange movies (Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, The Village, and Signs) they had no confidence in his vision.. Fact is, they should have stuck with him on track record alone.. None of his movies are "convintional".. He is more like an independent filmmaker on a mass scale.. Stern said it perfectly when he said, "I'd rather you make the movies you want to make, and miss occationally, then to compermise your artist integrity"..

He seemed happy with WB though..

He also said his next film is going to be a Sci-Fi movie..

He also said he almost directed Spiderman.. That would have been sweet..

What really surprises me is that all of his films have been shot in his home state of Pennsylvania.

I enjoyed all his movies except for The Village as well. However I think Sixth Sense is vastly overrated and the movie just has never worked for me after the first time.

Unbreakable however, is bad ass.

Sixth Sense-Good
Unbreakable-not good
Signs-Good
The Village-not good.

So this one should be good.

Sixth Sense was the best of his IMO. Yes, it looses much of it's impact after seeing it the first time, but still it's alright. I found myself looking for the clues they later stated that he missed as being dead... Plus it was a good story. Unbreakable I found better after seeing the first time. Liked it more the second time around. Signs was good, I really did enjoy it's suspense and the way they kept the aliens from being seen right until the end. So many movies want to CGI that shit up and it makes it loose it's psychological appeal. The Village wasn't terrible, but it wasn't good. The movie was so predictable for it's twist that it just fell flat. Thing is, if it was on, on free TV, I'd watch it again.

Unbreakable is the best "comic book" movie of all time, IMO..

Saw it last night.

It's a really, really..."fiction" type of story. It's beyond "this can't happen in real life". It's really out there....hence the "Bedtime Story" part to it.

It starts out slow, introducing the characters (there are a lot), but then builds to some pretty intense parts.

I will also note there is lots of comedy in it. It's by far his funniest movie...I was lol-ing in a LOT of scenes.

If you are a huge fan of his previous stuff, I'd recommend seeing it. I don't regret paying to see it.

He said it's like his Lord of the Ring-ish movie.. Fantasy aimed at mostly like 13 year olds..

After hearing him talk about it, I don't know why it was made out to be horror..
