Wait wait wait wait wait
TPWW and the entire fucking internet is doing the same exact thing that they did during the initial stages of Days of Future Past. Remember? Shots of Quicksilver leaked? And everyone laughed and said it looked awful? And then a cover shot on Entertainment magazine and everyone laughed some more and said he looked awful? Remember what happened when the movie came out? HE WAS FUCKING AWESOME This is progressing the exact same way. Leaked photos. People laughing. Magazine cover. People laughing more. So yeah. I am actually going to hold off on saying anything about Apocalypse til I see this movie. Cause I mocked Quicksilvers look, and then the film served me an entire keg of shut the hell up. I've learned my lesson. |

I have no doubt that the characterization of Apocalypse will be fine but the look is too blue. If the movie wasn't named Apocalypse would you be able to tell that that was Apocalypse ?

Probably.
All the elements are there. The blue suit, piping, "A" on the belt, and big collar piece. Just remixed on a smaller frame. |

Yeah it's hilarious how history repeats itself. Even before Days people were worried after shots of First Class came out.
Also, Apoc's live-action design isn't so alien that you can't tell it was him. He does have the general descriptors of the character. |

I remember saying X-Men: First Class would suck coz a picture of Magneto with his helmet leaked and I thought it looked shite. That movie was awesome. I learned my lesson.
Apocalypse looks great. I don't know what people are expecting? You want a huge robot-looking guy with a great big A on this chest or something? |

There's a big difference between the Quicksilver and Apocalypse situations.
Quicksilver looking like a dork worked because he was a silly, dorky character. It was a fun part. If he would've been portrayed as a menacing character while looking like that it would've come off badly. Apocalypse looks like a massive bellend in those pictures. If they play him off as a silly, campy villain then it might work, although I don't think a single person in the world wants to see a silly portrayal of Apocalypse. |

You have failed trying to point out the difference. Your argument is still dependent on hindsight whether you intended that or not. Quicksilver had the best scene in the film. Nobody, nobody suggested he may be portrayed as a comic relief.
It is the exact same scenario. |

They're not entirely comparible, other than the whole "don't judge a book by its cover" thing. I'm not even saying it will be shit. It just looks shite from these first images. Oscar Isaac is great though so hopefully he'll make it work. |

I lean toward knowing Singer didn't lose his mind since doing two of the best X-Men movies in the series.

Considering of the four good X movies, three of them were made by Singer, he gets the benefit of the doubt from me. I'm very excited for this. Plus, Psylocke looks amazing.

Man, I don't know about this. I mean, Aaron Rodgers' lady lands the role of Psylocke? How'd she pull that off? Keira Knightley not available or something?
Skeptical of some of the other castings, too. But we'll see how it plays out. |

You've got to be joking about Apocalypse looking cool he doesn't look like he could pose a threat to to a Baskin Robbins let alone be THE BADASS unstoppable first mutant. He looks like any of the random mooks that got their asses kicked in GOTG. (I tried to hold back but the more I look at him the more disappointed I feel) |

Yea the costume is all good but that face is horrible. Looks like a frost giant in Apocalypse's suit.

Is it possible they digitally enhance him to look like a badass?

Possibly he could get bigger so I assume that would be done digitally.

If he grows in size it would be for scale rather than bulking up like what you're thinking. In any case that's not important to his character.
And that's maybe the 1826th time having to say that. |

Now will the movie be complete shit if he does no get enhanced to look larger? No. But would he look better, in theory, if it happened. Yup.

Since the majority of successful superhero movie have had majorly grounded redesigns for characters I would argue that people do not care. It's always this rabid minority of people reviewing movies off one bad set-pic of a costume they don't like. They're wrong 98% of the time, as Figgy alluded to.
So no, I don't care that a lot of people care about that element. A lot of people have been humbled year after year. lol And it's still not important to the character. I'd wager Singer agrees with me. |

I get what Kalyx is saying and he is right to an extent. If the character is written strongly enough it really won't matter.
But it's true that he's not an imposing figure, which is very much a part of his character. This version doesn't look intimidating at all. Looks aren't everything, but he is the bad guy and is supposed the baddest mutant alive. That's not what I feel like I'm looking at. But we shall see. I'm sure the film itself will do the character justice. |

Psylocke was a bookworm girl who transferred her mind to the body of a hot ninja chick.
Don't think they're gonna go with that original anyway. Easier to just have Psylocke always being that way. |

Well the concept is absolutely ridiculous, but it is what it is. I normally am not actually that sensitive to actors not having to be the specific race they're portraying. But as you say, that is honestly the point of her character. They couldn't just have a Japanese character because how would you relate to one of those fucking weirdos. They had to make her a REAL PERSON who just looks Japanese... ie totally cool.

Here's one question:
Why not just keep Apocalypse the exact same way as he was depicted at the end of Days of Future Past? (i.e. simply portrayed, nothing overly extravagant, etc.). Speaking of which, I absolutely loved Days of Future Past. Not only was it my favorite X-Men movie, but I loved it more than any of the Dark Knight Trilogy movies as well, which is saying a lot. |

Dear Rog,
You realize they have in fact cast Asians in the X-Men franchise. This is the problem with people like you. Look at what you're writing in the wake of not only a perfectly cast Jubilee, but a Wolverine movie where Logan was one of two white people in a majorly Japanese cast. Munn's casting is not some tacit hate on Japanese people. Calm your ass down. |

That would cause a bigger shitstorm than we already have. Things like his neck guard and bio-mechanical body has to be depicted in some way.

Fair enough. I actually don't follow any of the comics and so I have no idea how he's supposed to be depicted. In that case, yes, you are correct. One question then - for the end of 'Days of First Class,' why did they exclude those details? (instead of just making him look like an anorexic Dr. Evil?). |

Depending on what they're keeping about him, we can assume based on what we see that he did apply bio-tech to his body, adapting to either humanity's advances in tech (as far it would be in the X-Men's version of the 80s) or full blown 616 alien shit, which would be big. The X-Men universe hasn't went cosmic quite yet and there's a lot of ground to cover with the Shi-Ar. This would also make possible a proper telling of the Phoenix saga. Yes, all dependent on Apoc actually having alien tech. Quote:

Realize you're the one raising an issue. Like... the only one.
I had issues with Munn's casting but it nothing to do with her not being Japanese. |
