I was going to post this thread. Must not have a lot of mma or boxing fans on here. I am excited. Connor has a lot to live up to considering how much he has run his mouth.

Interested for this as it's a boxing match. Thought for sure McGregor would destroy Mayweather in an MMA fight. Had no idea Mayweather was 49-0 though. Fucking hell. Gonna be one hell of a draw.

Mcgregor probably won't land a single punch, but holy shit if he gets lucky and lands a heavy one.

Mayweather will absolutely destroy him. They are both going to make sickening amounts of money though so I'm sure McGregor is more than okay with that

Hope Mcgregor loses every round and gets DQ'd in the 11th for KOing Floyd with a spinning heel kick.

I don't see this being a quick KO situation. I could see the fight going the distance as McGregor is used to taking a beating.
But Mayweather will win unanimously via embarrassing McGregor with technique. It's gonna look like an extended sparring match for him. |

If McGregor is getting paid 100 mil, Mayweather must be getting at least 27 figures, right?

If Conor wins it will be the end of boxing. The best pound for pound boxer losing at his own sport that is already in the decline will be a critical blow.

Can you break down how that works Droford? Like, if I bet $100 on McGregor, at +700, what does that mean for my bet?
Legit question as I might take that bet |

You'd win $700
Mayweather is/was -1100 meaning you have to bet $1100 to win $100 I just looked up currently odds and McGregor has been getting a lot of small bets on him to knock the odds down to +450 and -650 respectively. Theoretically what will probably happen is casual bettors will keep coming in with small bets on the underdog until the books lower the favorites (Mayweather) odds enough to wear the actual big money will come in on Mayweather at more favorable odds and jack McGregor back up. Will probably happen closer to the fight though. That's usually what happens in football anyway |

There's no way Conor should win, but that doesn't mean he won't....All it takes is one punch and it can be over.....

I'm hoping he lands one good, brutal left cross and at least knocks Mayweather down.
Read an article that says McGregor prob won't win but is a wildcard and Floyd may have trouble timing his footwork early on. Excited to watch it nonetheless. Can you imagine if he actually wins lol |

If McGregor dont get knocked out within the first 3 rounds then this shit is either rigged, or Mayweather is a punk bitch of a boxer.

Watching some of the press conference videos for this fight... are boxing matches always hyped liked this? (and likewise, are MMA ones?).
Seeing them both literally rip into each other vocally for ten minutes with endless petty insults and cusses... I dunno, feels like it "weakens" the sport aspect of it all, and is just turning it into a big circus. |

Probably not. This seems more of a pay day and entertainment thing. Not a legit fight. Imo.

Facebook clickbait article just popped up stating that the whole thing borrows heavily from pro wrestling, and that it's fake because the two have supposedly been caught sharing the same private jets. I didn't click on the actual article though, so take that for what it's worth.

Yes the build up to fights is a work. Finishes to big money fights are commonly rigged as well but not enough to bet the farm on

I predict they dance around for 12 rounds. McGregor gets a rigged win and they make twice as much for the second fight while we all sit with our thumbs up our asses pretending this shit and a corrupt fucking spot and a huge Ponzi scheme

Some guy put a 150,000 bet down on McGregor to win. He either is gonna make a million or two or lose big.

However, I just don't see it actually going down. No way Floyd throws his 50th fight to a non-boxer when he is 49-0. His ego won't let his record be tarnished like that. |

Actually he's only winning $667,500 + his $150,000 back ($817,500.00 total) if Connor wins as he apparently got +445 on Connor. Some places in Vegas and online still have him @+500 which would be 750k/900k total

Mayweather would never go for that shit. Especially since what makes him a great boxer in the ring also makes him a boring one in the ring. Retreating and landing shots for score won't really fly in the octagon. A clench for resting/wearing down his opponent would backfire quickly. Also, having to add a third dimension to his arsenal at the twilight of his career would make him an easer target than CM Punk. Anything on the ground would be unnatural, even in the unlikely event he were somehow in a position of advantage. Too much risk, not enough reward for Money. |
