Funniest part is that he left the Jets for the Giants this year "because I want to win the Super Bowl" and everybody laughed at him.

All I can look forward to now is the 9ers getting a worthy wideout in the draft. Also, The Browns are looking like they just may draft RG3. I don't know if I agree with giving up on Colt so quickly but I'm torn a bit.

Some people just like raining on people's parade. Gritty win by both teams tonight. It is sure to be a crazy two weeks of build up. Good luck Giants but remember revenge is a dish best served cold and it will be very cold in Indy.*

Rumors swirling Tampa Bay is trying to sign Oregon Head Coach Chip Kelly. It makes no sense as he has no NFL experience and his system isn't really made for the NFL.

Bill Simmons mentioned on his podcast last week that he and every Pats fan he's spoken to were openly rooting for the Giants yesterday...to the point where they would be disappointed if they had to play the Niners and were denied a shot at revenge. The revenge factor does worry me a bit...an extra motivated Brady and Belichick is never a good thing.
Patriots are going to be installed as the favorites, probably like 3 points or so. It's kinda funny to me that they're the favorites seeing as they already lost to a depleted Giants team and the offense just hasn't been the same against good teams. I'm also still not totally sold on their defense. They did look better yesterday, but they still basically allowed JOE FLACCO to have a game-winning drive if Lee Evans wasn't a stupid piece of shit. Gonna be a great game. |

Dunno why people are getting on Lee Evans' case. Sterling Moore perfectly smacked the ball out of his hands. Was a great defensive play.

It was a great defensive play but you just have to hold on to that ball for dear life. Some Ravens fans are claiming that Evans took 2 steps with the ball so it should have been ruled a TD anyway. Could you imagine if they called that? Would have been a riot at Gillette.

I was about to ask, what constitutes a TD when it comes to a play like that? Because I was looking at his feet during the replays and I thought I saw 2 steps but just figured maybe that's not the rule on scoring plays

I'm sure Mike Fatcessa will spend 2 weeks talking about how the Super Bowl losing team always regresses the next year and pointing out that the Giants have a brutal schedule next year.
The Giants were actually installed as the favorites? Fuck. |

just looked again actually, borderline when it comes to the 2nd step and Sterling Moore knocking the ball loose, seems pretty simultaneous

just so i have it in writing: the green bay packers are going to be completely fucked next year. this year they skated by only facing 4 teams with winning records thanks to the year priors average record (super bowl win or not they were a wild card team.) this coming year being 15-1 there scheadule will be that of a non-pee wee football team and the will be embarassed.

I'm not sure on the exact ruling, but I do think the league probably should have gone into a replay review for it. I don't think it was conclusive enough to overturn but a play of that magnitude should have at least warranted a second look.
NFL has already come out defending the officials for not doing a video review. Kinda pathetic that the NFL has to publicly defend the refs every single week. |

I didn't go back and look at any replays but in real time I would say that it's not a catch. Maybe it was closer than it looked but I wasn't really parked in front of the TV at the time.

I would think the rules are the same as out of bounds plays where even if you get both feet in, you still have to complete the catch.

The Bengals lost to the Ravens earlier this year because of a similar call. Jermaine Gresham caught a ball, got both feet down in the endzone but then lost the ball when he fell to the ground. The refs said he didn't complete the catch so it was an incompletion.

I'm reading that the Patriots are actually the 3 point favorites to start. Good. Keep it that way.

Yeah that was my logic. I guess if people wanted to split hairs they could have reviewed it closer but I think they got the call right.

Wouldn't surprise me. But as long as they're still listed as underdogs going in it's a good thing. It's no secret that they use the underdog role as motivation.

A comment some guy made on Kyle Williams signing with the 9ers over 1 year ago:
"Get ready to have your hearts in your throat whenever Williams is on the field, Niner fans. This dude is so unpredictable and takes crazy chances with the ball. He lacks concentration and drops and fumbles more passes and punt returns in important situations than anyone I've ever seen. In fact his very last play of his ASU career was a fumbled punt return in the biggest game of the year vs our rival Univ of AZ. The score was tied just a minute or so on the clock. U of A was punting. Everyone's thinking o.t.. All he had to do was catch the ball and take a knee or run it a few yards. But no, he wanted to be a hero and already had his mind running up the field before he even caught the ball. It went right through his hands, bounced off his leg and U of A recovered it. They went on to score a FG. Game & season over! Fans left stunned! Williams is very inconsistent. It doesn't matter if he runs a 4 flat you got to have the ball in your hands first! He can go from hero to zero in 4.3 too." |

Going to be a great Super Bowl, can't wait. Going to have some goosebumps and major nostalgia watching Patriots vs Giants again. My favourite Super Bowl memory since being a fan of the NFL (I'd only been watching for 2 years prior to that).

ESPN earlier had a discussion of who gets to use Peyton Manning's locker with Brady and Eli both being a bit of an embarrassment to Peyton. Eli already has a better playoff record and potentially could pass his brother in rings which could really make everyone rethink of Peyton as the best QB.
On the other hand, his biggest rival would be using his locker and would be a big deal if the Patriots were to win in their house. Should the Pats win, Brady would automatically become the new Montana and enough to tip the debates to Brady's side on who is better (5 SB appearances in 10 years, better playoff record than Manning, more rings). Brady gets the locker due to the host being an AFC team. |
