Just got back from the show. Decent seats, but couldn't see the titantron because of that damn Wrestlemania sign. Crowd hated Cena, loved Austin (predictably). I've seen so much goddamn pyro smoke. It was awful. I was marking out for JBL thanks to his comments about Canada.
BTW, Big Show beat Carlito in about 5 minutes in a dark match. |

Other than the fact that Smackdown! got next to no promotion, it was a hell of a show. I was marking out, and the set was pretty cool looking (even though my OCD was freaking out about the ramp not being right in the middle of the big tron they walked out infront). Great show. I would have to rate it a 7.5/10
Top 5 Moments 5. Foley/Edge Segment 4. JR showing what he is the best play-by-play guy in the business 3. RAW vs. SmackDown! (That match got me hyped for both the WM main events) 2.JBL/Austin 1. HBK vs. Shane (I marked out when JR called it Shane's version of the Van Terminator and went HOLY SHIT to the Uberplex.) The Shit List 5. Vince & The Kendo Stick (Seriously pathetic shots) 4. Undertaker's Usual Pre Casket-Match stuff (cool pyro though) 3. Tazz = Mute 2. No SmackDown! matches 1. RAW vs. SD! being the opener |

My theory as to why the RAW vs. SD! went on first:
you see, back in the old days of SNME, the big stars (ie hogan), would often be on early, because a lot of kids would stay up late (It used to be on at 9-10 PM) just to see the big stars. anyhow, it was an alright show, but I hated how Smackdown was made to look 2nd rate again. It was also nice to hear JR again. i miss the guy. And I really wish he comes back to RAW. Get rid of coach, and have Styles, JR and King. |

I got back a little while ago from the event. Decent seats, but was up towards the top in the upper bowl. I highly doubt I made tv though. Dark match was Big Show defeating Carlito. Detroit crowd is still mixed on Cena. We tried the Let's Go Cena, Lets Go Angle dueling chants early just like Survivor Series. But by the end of the match, he was getting cheered. I haven't watched the event on tape yet, but there were some major "Holy Shit" chants after the Shane/HBK ladder/table spot. Still was a fun show, despite my seats.

That last match was a mixed bag. Pacing was pretty horrible IMO, because they went for the biggest spot like five minutes into the match, leaving the following ten minutes with both guys dragging around to sell the injury and basically mounting slow offense. Then they had a bit of a pickup at the end. I liked the ring psychology of working on HBK's back, but anyone who didn't see the finish coming hasn't been watching wrestling that long. Once again, the McMahon's continue to "torture" HBK... by ringing the bell? Ya know, it was a big thing when Bret did it cuz he lost the belt. How was he "humiliated" here when he lost to a guy who cheated? That's not humiliation, just bad luck.
This feud started out thrown together and has continued to progress that way. It's predictable and routine, and as much as they try to sell this "Vince is a devil" stuff, nothing is really drawing me into the story. There's nothing compelling about it. They're just going through the steps of recycling bits and pieces of prior feuds and pretending it's all new. It wasn't really a tremendous match, if you ask me, and if Foley and Edge put on a super match (on par to the TLC type stuff), that will completely own this one. And I have a feeling that match will be pretty intense. Edge has always done well with huge bump matches, and Foley is the king of huge bump matches. So no, I don't think Shane vs HBK ruined the Hardcore Match. In fact, if it wasn't for that ladder bump, I'm pretty sure most people would have yawned through this one. |

I dislike JR. Not as a person, just as a commentator. Seriously, if the WWE replaces Joey Styles with him, I will curse the WWE until the day I die.

I thought it was an amazing show, just totally 100 percent entertaining... great arena, great old school feel, I loved that they keept the biggest match at the opener like the old days.

Question. Why do people bitch when Raw has barely any matches, yet praise this up and down?
We had the opener, which was good, the street fight, which was decent (If it wouldn't have been for the ladder spot, it wouldn't have been that good), and the women's tag that was uber short. I'm not saying it was a bad show, but I'm surprised there's no backlash for lack of matches. If I would have bought tickets to this, I wouldn't have been real happy. |

I forgot the SNME was on. Is there a replay?
I came home after 3 hours of Aikijujutsu (A seminar I attended) And an hour's walk home. I was beat so I had some cold pizza and went to bed. I saw the bit where the Boogeyman scared Booker and his ho, and saw the beginning of the beer drinking contest (Which I assume ended in a brawl) before I kind just dropped. So...I miss anything good? |

It was actually one of their better shows in a LONG time. The opening (the main event vs. main event match) was MUCH better than I had expected.
Michaels/Shane was a spot-fest, obviously, but it was pretty great. Overall I'd say that they should up their product to what they had last night. It would keep me entertained, that's for sure. There was more wrestling and/or brawling than any other non-PPV show in a VERY long time. |

From what I saw though, they booked it pretty much AS a PPV. A free PPV, but they booked it like they were doing a PPV anyway.

Yeah I am so glad they are doing this, it was terrific. Sure it wasn't the best wrestling and they didn't showcase any Smackdown! matches, but it was so entertaining. I wish that WWE would start to save their normal Raw and Smackdown! main event matches for PPV's and SNME's since there will be so many. And maybe start to use the IC and US titles for more main events.

The Fast National rating for WWE's "Saturday Night's Main Event" came in below a 3.4 last night (specific numbers were not available at press time), indicating that wrestling's presence on a major network did nothing to revitalize interest in the product.
According to Nielsen Media Research, NBC's two hours of wrestling caused the network to place last among the four channels offering national programming Saturday night. The professional wrestling industry was looking for a significantly higher number, going as far as to suggest that anything below a 5.0 would be a disappointment. While those within the TV industry had lower expectations, the score is also below those estimates and does not create an optimistic outlook for future WWE programming on NBC (outside of the confirmed summer SNME). WWE sources will likely attribute the low rating to the NCAA tournament, but even then, the company will not be able to spin this as great news. -but then I also found that it got a 2.9- http://www.zap2it.com/tv/ratings/zap...ings-headlines |

There is no way they will have the final ratings already. I'll wait to pass judgement until they officially release the ratings. However, the NCAA tournament is a damn good excuse considering it is one of the biggest events in sports.
