It really seems interesting this year. Most of the old guard is gone ("Friends," "Sex & The City," "The Sopranos") and there's a ton of new blood ("Deadwood," "Lost," "Desperate Housewives").
And "Scrubs!" |

To be fair, though, this year's nominees are worlds better than they've been in...oh...half a decade?

Okay, granted I'm a bit of a fanboy I guess, but where the fuck is The Shield and Rescue Me??? The only thing they got nominated for was Glenn Close? Seriously, why is FX getting the shaft?

What a shock that overrated garbage like Lost, Desperate Housewives and Arrested Development get praised.
God, TV is such trash anymore. It's all reality TV, or scripted TV that's made to look like a realistic situation caught on tape TV as I call it. If it's not reality TV, it's unfunny sitcoms that charade as something "smart" or boring "black" shows that follow all of the black stereotypes, yet the actors get pissed when they're stereotyped. With Enterprise being cancelled( :foc: Brannon Braga and UPN!!!), Smallville is all I have. That and Justice League. It's funny to me that a cartoon, a fucking cartoon, is a smart, entertaining, show that weaves these intricate plotlines such as the Cadmus arc that's currently running. Sorry, but I'd much rather watch "Panic In The Sky"(JLU's awesome adaptation of that story rocked) than Lost's next attempt to bore me. |

Okay, I'll be the first to post my "Please please please vote for these people!" list. I skipped a couple of categories, because I didn't see any of the movies or miniseries, and some of the categories I don't watch enough of the nominated shows to make an informed decision.

TV has never been stronger than it is these days, IMO. Shows like Arrested Development, 24, Scrubs, Deadwood, The Shield, The Sopranos, Nip/Tuck, Rescue Me, Lost, Desperate Housewives, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Wire, and the recently cancelled Carnivale. All quality television with good writing and acting. Give these shows a chance before you judge them all. You may be surprised. I never watched Enterprise, or any Trek, but I do wish Firefly was still on. That would add to the list of quality. |

Real hit-or-miss Emmys last night.
to Felicity Huffman winning. Her acceptance speech was awesome (and not just 'cause she name-dropped Aaron Sorkin - my professional idol - and "Sports Night" - the greatest show ever made). She is, imo, possibly the best actress on television right now, so she absolutely deserved this award. at all the awards for "Everybody Loves Raymond." How on earth can you justify calling that the Best Comedy Series when it was up against "Arrested Development" and "Scrubs?" And if we're going in terms of popularity, "Desperate Housewives" had higher ratings. On the plus side, I'll never have to sit through another Ray Romano, Doris Roberts, Patricia Heaton, Peter Boyle, or Brad Garrett Emmy clip. at "Lost" winning best drama. In my opinion, "Lost" was the best show on the air last year, and absolutely deserved this award. I would have been happy to see "24" get it after their phenomenal year, but kudos to the Academy for awarding it to a brand-new show. On the same token, at William Shatner beating Terry O'Quinn and Naveen Andrews. Shatner's "Emmy Idol" segment was funny, but no way was he stronger than O'Quinn this year. I've only seen a couple of episodes but how, exactly, did "Boston Legal" get itself categorized as a drama, anyway? |
