We all kinda had a feeling D-rob was gonna take over for Mariano when he retired anyway. This is very Unfortunate news, but at least D-rob wasn't traded or anything. I'd much prefer Mariano going down now then in the Summer or September when the games really, really, matter. I would of preferred MO staying but think about it if you're a Yankees fan with only 2 options.
1. Your top closer going down in very early May 2. Your top closer going down in mid to late August/Early September Which one would you prefer? I'm kind of glass half empty kind of guy and I think Robertson might do a fine job as closer. |

I hope Mariano can somehow come back and get a proper send-off during the playoffs this season. He deserves to go out on top, not like this. I don't like the Yankees at all but give credit where credit is due: Rivera is the best closer in the history of the game.

Definitely not the way Mo's career should end. He deserves to go out on a high note.

Orioles Agree To Sign Miguel Tejada
By Mike Axisa [May 4 at 6:33pm CST] The Orioles have agreed to sign Miguel Tejada, reports Brittany Ghiroli of MLB.com (on Twitter). The SFX client will report to the team's complex in Florida on Monday for his physical. Terms of the deal are unknown at this point. lol, the Os are desperate for a 3b that they'll bring back Tejada. WHAT? |

Well, think about this the Orioles are in second place for a reason. Frankly I wouldn't be surprised if the Orioles took the 2 games that Lester wasn't pitching myself. But, at least you could know that you got beaten by a recharged Orioles team that seemed to become a second place team almost over night.

Coincidentally Mark Reynolds has a HR, 2B and a BB tonight..lol
he needs to stay hot long enough for them to tell Tejada to go pound sand on the sunny beaches of Sarasota Florida on Monday |

Not counting the 1st series against the Tigers, Padilla almost can't go a full inning before either letting the other team score or give up a hit every time he has to.
Probably the worst guy in the Sox bullpen right now if he has to protect a lead once a starter or reliever goes out. |

lol..Rich Hill in the bullpen for the Sox.
I remember when he was starting for the Os. Had almost an 8.00 era in about a dozen or so starts. |

The Mets' pen has been atrocious. This season already seems to have the makings of a .500 campaign - which is admittedly better than most expected.
The Beastie Boys at bat songs were awesome though. |

The way the Red Sox are playing at home, this could easily be the first year they have a loosing record at home in 14-15 years.
Whole team is in a mess and giving away divisional games which ended up being a huge reason for last year's collapse. |

Orioles bullpen hasn't been scored on in 21 innings and is the best bullpen in baseball ERA wise.
I cant remember even when they had good teams in the mid 90s a time when they had such a great bullpen.. |

Still having a hard time grasping the fact that the Orioles have a better record (18-9) than everyone but Washington (same), Texas (potentially the same if they win tonight) the LA Dodgers (same) and Tampa (19-8 with a game tonight currently losing).

Angels/Scioscia gave Pujols the day off.
Think Arte Moreno is regretting signing him yet? |

Most likely although wouldn't be as huge of an issue had Texas not open up a good 10+ game lead early on and the Angels didn't struggle overall.
He's facing the same problem a lot of NL players have when they adjust to the AL since it takes a lot longer than vice versa to be great again. Fielder himself after the intial couple of games has been struggling a bit as well in terms of scoring and batting average but not in hits. |

at this point I'm fairly certain that if the Rockies don't score 17 runs a game they will not win

Skippy would have loved the Os/Sox game today.
Jason Hammel vs Aaron Cook, and both teams used relievers (Matt Lindstrom and Clayton Mortenson) that were with the Rockies last year as well. Plus the Sox Pitching coach Bob McClure was with the Rockies from 99-05 as well |

Ruben Tejada strains his quad diving into 1B.
At what point are players going to stop trying doing that? It's nearly impossible to pull off without hurting yourself. |

Ugh pitching woes continue for the Red Sox now that Cook is out injured due to yesterday and Buccholz couldn't get past the 4th inning. Outside of the 1 good week, pitching has been horrendous so far this season and hasn't been getting any better.
Didn't think it was possible for them to play worse than last year's final month but they've found a way to do it so far. |

I remember watching him when he was in A Ball for the Orioles back in 1997.
That was the greatest thing ever, between the throw out at home to end the 16th and Chris Davis' pitching and Adam Jones' 3 Run Hr. FIRST PLACE! Best record in baseball! YES YES YES |

Can't believe Chris davis went 0-8 with a golden sombrero but won the game with 2ks in 2 innings pitching.

Interesting day for baseball today. O's and BoSox pretty much played 2, and Pujols goes yard.
Yankees fan base is on pins and needles waiting for the phone call to Pettitte. He threw in AAA today. He may go one more time or be on the Empire State shuttle to the Bronx this week. |
