Pats and Chad Ochocinco's agree on a restructuring deal which saves the team $2 million and keeps Ochocinco on the team for next season.
Similar to when Belichick apologized for spy-gate during the annual owners meeting, Sean Payton is expected to apologized in front of all the owners and provide a lot of information in regards to bounty-gate. Cowboys and Redskins file grievances against the NFL in regards to salary cap penalties issued to both during last season's uncapped year. Those were the only 2 teams to break the "gentleman's agreement" where no team would go over the expired cap while a new CBA was being worked on. |

apparently Sean Payton/the Saints have "approached" Bill Parcells about coaching the Saints this season

Probably would be easier/cheaper to just promote one of the assistant coaches who already are familiar with the Saints system.
Would be interesting to see what the Saints would do if Parcells managed to have a great season. |

Agreed. The Tuna's been out of the coaching game for quite sometime now. I'd trust him to run my front office, he did make some miracles in Miami before new ownership took over. But not coach my team.

I don't get all the Mark Sanchez doubt/ hate. He's gone to two AFC title games and statistically he's improved every year. If you look at Eli's numbers in his first four years in the league and compare to them to Sanchez's, they're very similar . Hell, Eli's statistics were worse than Mark's in the season they won the Super Bowl and he was named game MVP.
He's no Matty Ice, but I think in a couple more years, Sanchez will be a very good QB in this league. |

that posts begs me to ask...Mark Sanchez or Joe Flacco?
I consider Flacco to be much better than Sanchez, but of course Im horribly biased... |

Joe Flacco should be much better than he is. Feel like he has plateaued.

Dro why are you seemingly on a quest to find a QB the majority of us will pick Flacco over? Is our approval really that necessary for you?

I think they're about the same. Sanchez would probably play better in the team environment the Ravens have. Lewis and Suggs do nothing but praise Flacco (like after Ed Reed's comments got blown out of proportion), while Sanchez gets pissed on by anonymous teammates and the Jets bring in arguably the most popular player in the game in Tim Tebow to be his back up.

The NFL loves putting Dallas in shitty week 1 situations. Last year was in NY against the Jets on the 10th anniversary of 9/11 and now in that dreaded "facing the Super Bowl champions on opening night" spot. Jesus. lol

Having them open the season in NY like that last year was, I thought, would be the reason why they would end up going with Green Bay.

Apparently Denver is a strong possibility for the SNF season opener.
I'm guessing Broncos @ Patriots or Saints @ Broncos. Either one would be money with all the storylines on top of Manning's debut. |

Manning vs Brady has gotta be on SNF. Not sure if they wanna separate it from the opening night spectacle and make it it's own spectacle at some point mid-season or what.

Giants @ Niners is a lock to be either SNF or MNF at some point during the year I'd think.

Rule changes for next season include all turnovers to be reviewable by the booth similar to TD calls. Big reason was the refs having to over turn the calls (52%) than were right (48%) and to save on challenges done by coaches.

So basically another ten-fifteen minutes of reviews during a game.

Yes but if the Bills proposed rule passes it will save time.
Bills Proposed that the reviews to be done by the MEN UPSTAIRS like in college. Would remove any motivation for Refs to not want to change their own call, and would save time as it would immediately get review upstairs without waiting on refs getting around. |

Wonder why they didn't approve the booth official doing reviews. I think college football has gotten it right with how they do the reviews/challenges.

I think Peyton Manning leaving Indianapolis officially marks the beginning of the end of the New England/Indianapolis/Pittsburgh monopoly that has dominated the AFC for the last decade. I guess you could say it started last year when he was out for the season. Those three teams have gradually become more and more lethargic while the NFC continues to gain talent and energy. I wouldn't be surprised if a team from out of the blue took over the AFC next season, although no one really comes to mind right away.

The problem with the AFC is that there are a bunch of nothing franchises in that conference. The NFC on the whole has a better quality of teams in terms of city population and fan base. I would probably send Chicago or Washington to the AFC, swap them with Cincinnati or Tennessee or some team like that to even things out a bit. It's just difficult to picture Cleveland, Houston, or most of those other mid to lower tier teams in the AFC as ever really being long term powerhouses.
