Piper all the way. One of my all time favorites. As I've said Bret just never really did any thing for me so as long as he's up there I'll probably vote the other way.

Piper is over rated. GREAT in the early-mid 80s. Promos untouchable. Never amazing in the ring though, a lot of fuck finishes in his matches.
After 87 though he is pretty BLAH. Essentially just turns into Poochie. HEY GUYS LOOK AT ME I'M ROWDY RODDY PIPER, I'M SO ZANEY AND FUNNY and it's like fuck off man. |

Roddy Piper showed up to kick ass and chew bubble gum, and he was all out of bubble gum.

Bret Hart.
Give the nod to Piper in terms of promo skills and Bret in terms of in-ring skills but leaned more towards Bret for similar reasons with the Bret-Vader matchup. Seen a lot more of Bret's stuff than Piper's stuff overall which gives him a bigger edge in these types of debates. |

Piper by far. One of the best heels ever and ridiculously likable as a face. Not many could pull that off. What Bret has over him as a technical wrestler, Piper more than makes up for as a an overall personality. The guy was never boring.

I liked Piper when he was interim president in the WWF. The stuff w/ Goldust was weird af but fun as well.

Seen a whole lot more Piper that I didn't like than those I did like, although there is plenty of classic Piper. Way more classic Bret though, Bret gets my vote

Piper. Of all the guys who deserved a WWF Championship run in his heyday and never got one, The "Rowdy" One is right there at the top of my list.

Going to have to go with Bret for no other reason than I have not seen alot of Pipers work outside of WWF/WCW and what i had seen, outside of his stick work, sucked. That being said I do like Piper...

I actually went with Bret Hart on this. Piper suffers from a similar thing in that I never saw him in his time, and weirdly enough, I think Bret holds up better. Him being a "pure wrestler" works with me, whereas a lot of Piper's ring skills are retroactively inflated because he was a genuine star. Piper could definitely talk, but I subjectively find his style grating after a while.
Definitely a legend and integral to some very important moments. I don't really buy that anyone could have done what he did against Hogan, but Bret Hart just takes it for me, because there is also only one Bret Hart. Both were referenced in The Simpsons too, so they both count as immortal professional wrestlers to me. |

Very narrowly I give the edge to Bret Hart here. Piper obv has him beat on charisma and Piper is, imo, a much bigger staple to wrestling history. At the same time, I always enjoyed Bret's in ring work more. Piper was no slouch, but I just found Bret to be more entertaining to watch wrestle. Bret was also, imo, a lot more charismatic than credit is given to him.
Overall, I give the edge to Bret once again by a thin margin. Some of it is just personal preference I admit. |

Bret Hart.
Hart was one of my favourites as a kid. I got into wrestling in 1992, at the age of five. All I really knew of Piper was his WCW run... hardly complimentary stuff. |
