There was a rumor of them reconsidering Luck and taking RG3 because of all the fixes on the O line that was needed but ended up being shot down a few days later by the owner. Might have occurred after when RG3 won the Heisman.

Feel sick to my stomach over this whole thing.
I get it. I understand why they did it. But there is no way the fans wouldn't have forgiven Irsay if he decided to keep Manning for the rest of his career. So they suck for a while when he retires. Who cares, you'd go down as being the guy who respected the player enough to let him finish out an illustrious career with his team in a city he's done so much for, AND still potentially win another Super Bowl. I get it though. You don't pass up a number one draft pick when you have a potential franchise quarterback that is expected to play at a high caliber for the next 15 years, ready to be drafted right now. Especially when you're not sure if your current QB will be healthy enough to play for the last few years. And for the record, “If I have the opportunity to learn from a guy like that, of course you’re going to take advantage of it,” Luck said at the NFL Scouting Combine. “Absolutely.” The guy hasn't done anything wrong, so fuck the haters. Start of a new era in Indy, and I hope it will be a great one. But there's no replacing Peyton Manning. Thing I hate almost as much as losing Manning, is the fact that this season is going to be filled with comparisons between Luck and Manning. Speculation as to whether he'll live up to the hype, blah blah. And if Manning does good wherever he goes, which I imagine he will (because he's Peyton fucking Manning, and he was still throwing like a legend before the surgeries) assuming the injury is healed by the time he plays, then people are going to be screaming about how Irsay made the wrong call, without realizing that it wasn't about next season. It's about the next ten seasons and beyond. Hope Luck doesn't fold to the pressure. Really hope Manning doesn't go to Miami or Washington. Washington doesn't strike me as a Super Bowl ready team, and I just can't stand Miami, or Florida in general. |

And you can't watch the press conference and not see that it was absolutely killing Irsay to have to announce something like this. I have no doubts that this was not something taken lightly within the organization. Neither of them could get through it without choking up.

Not even going to lie. I held it together until Peyton looked straight into the camera and said he was proud to be our quarterback. I lost it. Cried like a little girl. Glad I was alone. It was embarrassing.

I think Luck will be amazing. Can't wait for him to get signed and learn the playbook. And get familiar with our white receivers and TE's.

But hey, The Colts won, he was awarded the MVP...Good on him! and the loss to the Saints was closer to Manning's form than most fans will want to admit. The NFL is a harsh and brutally honest business. There's no shame and admitting that Peyton is one of the QB's we'll always talk about. There's also no shame in admitting he's closer to Dan Marino than Joe Montanna. |

I'm not taking anything away from his ability, he just looks legitimately retarded. Like if I ran into him on the street I would feel like I had to help him across the crosswalk.

Eli restructured his contract, giving the Giants an extra $7 million in cap room to play with.

no way he ends up in miami. Miami is going to grab Flynn from green bay. Especially because a former coach of his is there.
peyton goes to arizona... best situation for him. |

Realistically its between 4 teams: Miami, Arizona, Washington, and KC.
Miami will provide him with a warm weather stadium and instantly becomes their starter. Only concern is the rest of the division because of Miami's poor record once winter arrives. Arizona could get him but then they would admit the Klobb experiment was a failure and can't afford to tie up a huge amount of money between Klobb and Manning. Washington already admitted they are willing to destroy their future hopes just to cash it all in with a gamble the next 1-2 years with Manning. KC would be more of following the similar route Montana did and they already have a decent QB in Cassel who has experience as a backup. Division is also the weakest so they easily become the favorites. Of all of those places, I can see him going to KC if he wants to win or Arizona if he wants a big contract. Miami is like Washington where he'd have to worry about divisional games considering both division have defenses that love to play physical. |

I heard on the radio Manning wants to stay in the AFC.
I would think he would want to go to a dome team, and therefore the Cardinals I think would be the best choice. |

I'd say Miami. Warm weather, solid #1 WR, already has a place there, 2 games against Brady. Seems like the best spot.

I dunno. I feel like arguements could be made for the Dolphins, Chiefs, Cardinals, Broncos, Texans (if they are pursuing or w/e), and even the gay ass Jets could be considered. Can't see him going to the Redskins, think I am pretty safe in ruling them out.
If I took everything i know/think about Peyton and pretended to be him this is the order of appeal I think he would have Texans Chiefs/Broncos (idk) Cardinals Dolphins Jets |

Manning pretty much already said Washington can kiss his ass and he won't play for them so they're out.

Jets dont stand a chance just on principle of both Mannings playing in NY. The idea of Peyton Manning playing for the Cardinals is ridiculous, but they're in a decently winnable division with most of the parts in place. |

Oh hey should we take our slightly above average team and hope Matt Cassel takes us to the Superbowl or should we say "Fuck Matt Cassel" and take a gamble on one of the best quarterbacks ever
Oh nah dude, Matt Cassel all the way Fuck you |

For Peyton the road to the playoffs in the AFC is easiest in the West. Broncos, Chiefs and Raiders are all still trying to get their shit together while the Chargers are just trying to not collapse completely.

I think it'll be the Dolphins. He already has his main protection (Long), a #1 wideout (Marshall), a 1,000 yard rusher who can also catch passes (Bush), an offensive-minded head coach, and a team that played a lot better down the stretch. I have no idea what the Dolphins' cap situation is, but could you imagine if they got Reggie Wayne or somebody to follow Peyton there as well? Peyton would have some awesome weapons and I think they'd be an immediate contender.
Everybody has Flynn going to Miami because of the coach...but if you're the Dolphins and you can pick between Manning or Flynn, it's a no brainer. |

Dunno, if I'm Miami I go with Flynn. If he's as good as he's hyped up to be then you have to go with him. I'd prefer the long term fix than the "quick! to the playoffs maybe!" patch

The only teams that "don't need QBs" are those that already have top tier QBs (GB, NO, NE, NYG - probably forgetting some). Other teams should be doing all they can to get Peyton, especially if they're on the list of teams for which he'd consider playing.

Even if the Texans throw their name into the hat, I'm not convinced that Peyton would actually go there even though they're supposedly the favorites if they enter the sweepstakes. I can't see him going anywhere else in the AFC South.

A 36 year old future HOFer who just sat out a whole year with a fucked up neck that may never be the same or a young guy with seemingly a lot of potential? Look at it however you want.
Would it really take a shitload to sign Flynn though? I'm not sure, don't really know much about him or his actual value. And like I said, IF he's as good as the hype, and if anyone would know that it'd be their new coach. Though I guess them going hard after Peyton may answer that. |
