Oh shit, I think he was signed. 'Please Sign Cedrick' chants after the credits and then HHH comes out. Yay!
Basically what Dark One said earlier. |

Either that or HHH wanted to steal his heat.

That Alexander vs. Ibushi match was fucking brilliant. Best match of the tournament so far.
Also, Daniel Bryan and Mauro Ranallo are probably the best announce team the WWE has had since J.R and King in the Attitude Era, maybe even better, given time. Both of these guys have an encyclopedic knowledge of wrestling and moves, and they both do a great job of sounding excited and invested in the product, without coming across as stoic and scripted like on Raw. Plus, it's refreshing their "real sport" style of announcing, where they can openly discuss CMLL, NJPW and generally acknowledge that there are other promotions outside of WWE. Plus, Marallo calling a "Fujiwara Armbar"... can't remember the last time we heard a move called like that on Raw. |

I've only just noticed we might get an Ibushi/Kendrick quarter final. Goddamn that would be a lot of fun.

I would say Ciampa vs Gargano is still the best, due to the emotional story they told during the match. That beats out the spectacle of ibushi vs alexander, at least for me.

So I'm just doing some maths with this week having 2 matches and next week having 3, it'll be another 3 the week after, then 2 matches a week for the quarters. That takes it to 9 weeks and the 10th week is a 2 hour live special, meaning we'd have the semis and finals in the same night.
Plus maybe one or two other matches. Would be good if it's some guys that were knocked out and give them a chance to steal the show. Might book the day after that off work and watch it live. |

As for the commentating this week, while the content was still "good", it did get on my nerves a bit. Felt like Daniel Bryan said "OH MY GOSH" way too mny times, and that Mauro slipped back a bit into using his overly fake sounding radio announcer voice too much. |

Both pretty amazing matches, I guess I'm just biased towards "guy living his dream" kind of moments. |

Pretty amazing that Alexander left ROH for the CWC and just the opportunity to get signed, then had a match like that.

Really hope they sign Tajiri to do some more work..... cause really, all I want is to see Tajiri kick some people's heads off.... is that too much to ask?

Just watched this week's episode and I'm glad Matalik won, really been impressed with him. I could watch Ibushi power bomb people all day. Think Ciampa and Gargano was better but Alexander/Ibushi was good. Hope they do sign Cedric, like Dark One said if never really been high on him when he was in ROH as he never really did anything of importance, really smart career move joining this tournament.

Not sure how the brackets are laid out because I'm too lazy to look, but I would have loved Tajiri vs Kendrick semi-final or something. I think there's a great story there with two grizzled veterans doing everything they can for their last shot, against each other.

Forgot about even making any sort of predictions on this thing....
On one side I see a semi-finals of Akira Tozawa vs. Zack Sabre Jr. Neither of which I was huge on, but that is what I see happening. I'd put Zack Sabre into the finals I guess, even though I liked Tozawa better. (Which is to say I didn't really care for ZSJ at all in his match) On the other side I see the semi-finals getting down to Johnny Gargano and Kota Ibushi. I know Kota is probably "their choice", but I'd put Johnny Gargano over and put him into the finals vs. ZSJ. Gargano would then win the tournament. Ibushi prob gonna win the whole thing, though. Probably still against ZSJ in the finals. |

Gargano probably has a big chance to win if Ibushi doesn't want to stick around. I think Tozawa will probably look better next week since he's not going against Jamoke #7 like the first round.

Ibushi is my pick win the whole thing. Both his matches have been great but he's also worked with good talent. I'm hoping Sabre Jr. has a better showing in the second round as I feel like WWE is high on him. Tough though as a lot of good talent still in the tournament.

Sabre Jr. just did not have a "good look" for me..... looked about as "menacing" as Colin Delaney.... and his "chain rassling" was just so "slow".... neat reversals and stuff but so slowly that it is hard to suspend the disbelief of why the other guy doesn't do something.....

Hopefully him and Gulak will have a better match. Not sure if it was the guy Sabre Jr. was working with or what but like Lock Jaw he just didn't impress me. His match was the first I've ever seen of him but I've heard a lot of about him.

I think the problem was that we saw Jack Gallagher do a more entertaining version a week later. Too technical and the audience will lose interest as South Park has taught me.

Lock Jaw Fact: I once edited together a TYSON DUX hype pack for a local fed.... got some dude to make music for it, and randomly mixed Dux's speech into the footage like he'd say "I'm Tyson Dux" and then I'd cut to some quick action/training shots of him and you would hear "T-T-T-TYSON DUX!!" with like an echo.
It was pretty terrible editing. |

So I'm predicting an all-English left side of the bracket. I don't think this has been fully booked in advance and guys that impress have had a chance to advance more than they were supposed to, so Jack Gallagher V ZSJ in that semi, which should be damn fun.
ZSJ will probably have to face HoHo Lun after the only match I'm not interested in, HoHo V Dar, has HoHo winning. I'd be happy with any of Metalik, Tozwa or Gallagher making it to the semis though. On the other side, Johnny Wrestling V Ibushi. Hnnng. And that's after Johnny V Rich Swann quarter finals and either Nese or Kendrick V Ibushi. This is assuming that they get who they want under contract though. I think the winner will be someone they sign, so Ibushi or ZSJ are probably the favourites if they do sign, but they might book an outsider yet. For filler matches on the CWC final, I'm hoping they have a 3rd place playoff. Gargano Vs Gallagher/Metalik/Tozawa would be fun. Quote:

Ibushi-Alexander match was amazing. If it wasn't for Gargano-Ciampa's greatness last week, this would easily be best of the tournament so far.

I am now officially a fan of both Cedric Alexander and Koto Ibushi. That said, Gargano/Ciampa was still a better match overall. Props to Metallik and Tajiri too. That was a lot of fun.
I love Kendrick, but I think I'm pulling for Nese over him. Also, Gallagher should move on too. Also...how is no one talkin about TJ Perkins? He probably had the best first round showing outside of the Gargano/Ciampa match. |

I enjoyed both the matches from the latest CWC episode. The opening match was probably the best Tajiri match that I've ever seen under the WWE banner. I was also thoroughly surprised by Cedric Alexander. The dude is gifted as far as in-ring capabilities are concerned and has facials to "tell a story" in the ring. Quality stuff.

Kendrick vs. Nese was a cool, unique match. They definitely teased that it was going to be a Nese squash, so every time Kendrick sneaks out and finds a way to survive was a bit of a surprise. I definitely love the Desperate Brian Kendrick heels tactics; haven't seen stuff like that since Finlay like a decade ago.
Would really like to see evil, crafty Brian Kendrick mentor a cruiserweight on TV and pass on those techniques. |

You know, I actually had a match where I told a guy "take your shirt off, throw it at my face and attack me" When it comes time for him to do it..... he completely misses and throws it into my hands (so I pretty much did what Leslie Neilson did here)
Onto the topic at hand, I really hope they sign Jack Gallaher. Love his style in the ring, I would LOVE to see a match between him and Simon Gotch, then he eventually joins the Vaudevillians to create the most manly trio in all of wrestling.... |

Tozawa's reactions and great selling made that match as much as Jack's technical prowess did. Such great psychology from both guys in that match.
Ding Dong and Durr are both boring. Don't even remember who won. Great main event, but I was hoping Kendrick wouls bust out sliced bread #2 to finish it. |
