I'll do my best, but you have to realise the sheer magnitude of my nerdacious love for the Simpsons, so my Top 10 are so microscopically separated it's not funny.
10. Homie The Clown - I love Krusty, and I love Homer. Together, they are gold. Also, Luigi throws out one of my all-time favourite lines, "Yeah, you see how you scum". 9. Last Temptation of Homer - A very funny and fundamentally very sweet episode about Marge and Homer, really. Hilarious episodes are great, but the value of the episodes that tug at the heartstrings shouldn't be understated. 8. Sweet Seymour Skinner's Badaaaass Song - Funniest Apu rant ever, some five-star Superintendent Chalmers, and one of Skinner's finest half-hours. 7. Marge vs. The Monorail - The best song in the history of the Simpsons, Phil Hartman, and Conan O'Brien. There is nowhere this episode goes wrong. 6. Homer The Great - Secret cults + Jean Luc Picard = ratings. 5. Deep Space Homer - Marvellous. 4. Krusty Gets Kancelled - Myriad of celebrities, hilarious acting (both voice and animation - Krusty's post-Worker and Parasite face cracks me up every time) 3. Cape Feare - Sideshow Bob's finest half-hour. I can watch this episode again and again and again... 2. Homer The Heretic - Simply brilliant. 1. Last Exit To Springfield - From the get go, this episode is a non-stop train of hilarity. Seamless parodies, succinct satire, yet emotional to it's core, it is the epitome of all things Simpsonian. I dunno, I could write that again and 70% of it would be different. It was so hard to choose. |

10)$pringfield (Or, How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love Legalized Gambling)-The title itself is a hilarious parody of Dr. Strangelove. You know that if Springfield legalizes gambling, that havoc is sure to ensue. Sure enough, Mr. Burns evolves into a Howard Hughes type character, Marge develops a gambling problem and Bart manages to run his own casino. There is plenty of funny stuff and has a gambler much of it hits close to home. One of Homer's many life long goals also appears, "to be a blackjack dealer." Of course, he's not very good at it.
9)Duffless-Homer gives up alcohol. NOOOOOOOO! This episode is a classic in my book as well. Homer agrees to give up beer after a run in with the law after a Duff Brewery visit. Marge does point out that Homer drinks quite a bit and the episode has the great exchange between Marge and Homer and the signs that one may be an alcoholic. "Do you ever hide beer around the house? Do I ever!" The last scene is a touching ode to "Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid." 8)Kamp Krusty-The Simpson kids go to Kamp Krusty and all hell breaks loose. Who would have guessed it? The children must live in substandard conditions and are forced to make wallets for export. Soon the kids begin to rise up. Sure enough, Bart takes over Kamp Krusty and renames it Camp Bart, instead of the proposed Camp Freedom. As Bart points out, “It has more zing.” Soon Krusty is notified about all of the issues and decides to take the kids head to the happiest place on earth, Tijuana. 7)Burns Verkaufen Der Kraftwerk-This is the episode when Mr. Burns sells the power plant to a German group of investors. They, of course, still have enough money left to buy the Cleveland Browns after the transaction is complete. Sadly, Homer doesn’t mesh well with the new owners and is the only employee to get fired. Along the way though, he visits the "Land Of Chocolate" which offers some of the funniest visuals in the history of the show. This is just a really funny episode from start to finish. 6)Cape Feare-I love all of the Sideshow Bob episodes, but this one is the best and easily my favorite. The scene when the family is forced into witness relocation and Homer doesn't realize he is going to have a new name and fails to respond to the special agent is so funny. Be sure to make a special note of Homer’s outfit (Witness Relocation Program shirt and hat) after the family arrives at their new houseboat. My limited knowledge of musicals comes from this episode as well. 5)Homer Goes To College-Who would have guessed that someone as smart as Homer didn’t graduate college? Well, he was a jock and he surely wouldn’t want to turn into his mortal enemy, the nerd. Just the idea of Homer returning to college makes me laugh. Luckily the episode managed to exceed my lofty expectations. There is great stuff with the dean and the three nerds. If only Homer and Sir Oinksalot hadn’t split that case of malt liquor, he might have made it. 4)Homer At The Bat-This probably isn't the funniest episode, but it's so cool how they got all of those famous baseball players together for a really classic episode. At the time, all of the players were huge stars and it was quite a coup by the producers. There are plenty of great moments from Mr. Burns to keep you laughing throughout the episode. 3)Last Exit To Springfield-The nuclear power plant has lost its union representative and everyone hopes that he turns up alive, HA! So, the only possible replacement is Homer. Homer takes on Mr. Burns in negotiations to help end the power plant strike. Mr. Burns thinks Homer is a hard nosed negotiator and they battle to the end. Amazingly, the simple-minded Homer manages to outwit the evil Mr. Burns. Sure, Homer may have drunk too much beer and coffee and watermelon, but he still came out ahead. This episode has one of the best extended jokes in the series…"So long dental plan, Lisa needs braces..." 2)Last Temptation Of Homer-Michelle Pfeiffer guest stars as Mindy Simmons. She's the new attractive nuclear power plant employee that loves donuts, taking naps and drinking beer, just like Homer. He instantly develops a crush on her and does everything he can to avoid her. After successfully doing so, he accidentally runs into her in the elevator and sexual innuendo chaos results in a hilarious scene. Everything that takes place and the convention is pure comic gold as well. There’s nothing better than hearing Homer say, “The only thing I’m going to use this bed for is eating, sleeping and maybe building a little fort.” 1)Marge vs. The Monorail-This, to me, is the perfect Simpsons episode. There are so many funny scenes and jokes that it’s impossible to do the episode justice. Just, the way Lisa figures out Lyle Lanley’s plan and then he uses her intelligence to fool her is just great. Lanley’s monorail song is so funny and its influence on the town of Springfield is typical for the town. The opening song of Homer's that parodies The Flintstones is also great. My all time favorite quote from the television show comes from this episode as well, "Donuts, is there anything they can't do?" Last edited by Joey Slugs; 10-10-2006 at 12:09 PM. |

Don't have a top ten but the episode where Homer eats the Guatamalan Insanity Peppers and trips balls is the best one ever..
Special mention goes to the one where they film the Radioactive Man movie in Springfield and the Spinal Tap episode.. |

the halloween ep is because my buddys have this running joke of when we are drunk to be sick whilst yelling 'Please kill me, every second I live is agony' re inacting the frog that Bart tried to turn into a prince And the one line where Santa's Little Helper says 'Chewy' is the only time i've had tears going down my face of laughter at the simpsons I dunno, i guess it's cos Sky repeats them all the time so I kind of lose sight of the really good ones as i've seen them too much |

ARGH, I can't believe I forgot $pringfield. That, You Only Move Twice and Homer the Vigilante are three episodes that probably would have made it onto my list if I'd written it a second time. There's just too much goodness to be had.

In all the years I've been watching the Simpsons, I've never once seen an episode title.
Anyway, there's too many for me to list. Maybe if you made it a top 100 I'd just fit them all in. |

In no particular order:
1) Weekend At Burnsie's-Homer is perfect throughout this ep. 2) Lisa's Rival-If only for the sugar guarding scene, containing the single most perfect Homer rant in the history of the series. 3) Homer At The Bat-Burns doing those signs? Come onnnnnn. 4) Krusty Gets Kancelled-Krusty is at his best when he's in anguish. The look after Worker and Parasite is golden. 5) $pringfield-Burns is great in this one. Not to mention the Boogeyman scene. 6) You Only Move Twice-Hank Scorpio is perhaps the best one-off character in Simpsons history 7) El Viaje Misterioso de Nuestro Jomer (The Mysterious Voyage of Homer)-Johnny Cash 8) Homer's Enemy-Frank Grimes is perhaps the second best one-off character in Simpsons hiatory 9) Deep Space Homer-Brockman 10) Cape Feare-Hands down the finest Sideshow Bob appearance |

Mr. Plow...
(The Simpsons are at an automobile show. Lisa watches a video from "Third Reich Motors" about how they test safety on their cars. The car SLAMS into a brick wall, knocking the dummies through the windshield, and one falls out the door... and stars to crawl away...) Lisa: Hey, those aren't dummies! German Guy: THIS EXHIBIT IS CLOSED! |

Right, given this some thought, been a Simpsons fan as long as I can remember:
10. Sweet Seymour Skinners Basassss Song Pretty much just for the angry rant Apu goes on, then ends with a cheery "thank you come again!" 9. $pringfield Love the bit with Millhouse getting clocked in the face with a twirling microphone. 8. Itchy and Scratchy Land "When you get to hell, tell 'em Itchy sent you" *Man takes face off robot, robot screams* "I wish they wouldn't scream" 7. The Last Temptation of Homer A great episode, with all members of the family invoved, plus, Homers unsexy thoughts of Barney dancing in a bikini are hilarious. 6. Bart Sells His Soul To this day, I occasionnaly aswer the phone at work "Professor V.J Cornucopia's Fantastic Foodmagorium and Great American Steakery" 5. Homie the Clown Can't get enough of this episode, wonderful stuff. 4. Lisa's First Word The best of the flashback episodes, i'm pretty sure I got the name of the ep right, it's the one with the Krusty Burger Olympic Games Giveaway. 3. 22 Short Films About Springfield Quite suprised this hasnt come up ore often in this thread. 2. Mr Plow Insurance Man: "..and this place Moe's, it's a business of some sort" Homers Brain: "Don't tell him you were at a bar!" Homer: "It's a pornography store. I was buying pornography" Homers Brain: "Bravo.....*clap clap clap* Homer: "Well, I guess i'm going to have to stop doing stupid things" *walks into door* Marge: "Oh Homie, didnt that hurt" Homer: "..no" 1.Cape Feare I love Sideshow Bob, and this is his best episde, the rakes bit is my all time favourite Simpsons bit.
