When Steiner was young, he was the shit. I think it was Bruce Pritchard's podcast that was talking about an original idea back in the day to bring him into WWF and make him a champion eventually. The Steiner Brothers are easily one of the best tag teams to ever do it.
However, he was pretty much unwatchable once the whole Big Poppa Pump thing came along. His matches were ass, and his promos weren't as great as people wanted to give them credit for. Scott has a place in history, but Rey wins this one pretty easily for me. |

I wanted to give it to Steiner as he was fucking awesome, but Rey is legendary.

I loved Scotty when he teamed with Rick, but like ABT said, as soon as he turned heel he became the drizzling shits. I haven't enjoyed him since.

Agreed. Sadly I can't think of anything from Scott that would top Rey-Eddie or Rey-Jericho.

This is a weird one because a young, agile Steiner was a killer. One of the best athletes/wrestlers in the business and almost a certain singles star.
He chose to go a certain way with steroids and made himself pretty immobile. It worked to a degree, because he managed to eek out a career, but I think he took away what made him special. I think Scotty had the ability to be a star on a far bigger scale and surpass anything that Rey ever did. He was a big guy who could really move and was a world class amateur I believe. One of best in whole US at one stage. But choices are choices, and while Rey redefined cruiserweights and their limits in the business, Big Poppa Pump decided to do away with what made him great. Rey wins |

Scott Steiner had more personality as a musclebound drug addict than ten Rey Mysterios. However, as pointed out by several others, his matches we're mostly complete shit when he became Big Poppa Pump...

Tough one, love Rey but I went with Steiner. Part of one of the greatest tag teams of all time. I loved his heel turn and Big Papa Pump. Dont care what you say, give the man a microphone and it is entertaining.

Big Poppa Pump and Booker T carried WCW from 2000-2001. Steiner was the fucking man

I can't fathom how people could dislike Big Poppa Pump unless they didn't watch WCW and are basing this on his WWE run

I dunno....both these guys had their better years early. Loved the Steiner Bros, and loved WCW Cruiserweight Rey. Big Poppa Pump and "The Giant Killer" Rey were pretty meh overall with a moment here or there for both. I was never a fan of either in WWF/E.
I abstain from this round. (Crowd chants "BOTH THESE GUYS!! BOTH THESE GUYS!! Randy Orton boos) |

Nothing is finer than Scott Steiner but I voted for Rey Mysterio. Both are impressive steroid abusers.

His great tag team work doesn't measure up to Rey's body of work. He was entertaining as Big Papa Pump, but often for all the wrong reasons.

I enjoyed Steiner's WCW run (including Big Poppa Pump).
I also enjoyed Rey's WCW run, and a lot of his WWE run. I did not enjoy Steiner's WWE run at all, but liked some of his TNA stuff that I saw (mainly the tag team stuff) Overall I'd just have to give it to Rey. I'd rather listen to Scott Steiner on the mic, but Rey I think is the better performer all around. |

Even tho it was short, the Steiners' run in WWF always sticks out to me. Awesome matches against Money Inc, the Headshrinkers and the Quebecers

It wasnt due to them though. They were the only thing keeping it going...and ftr those late Nitro numbers would be on par with current raw numbers

I must go with Rey Mysterio. I love cruiserweights and he was head and shoulders above every other cruiserweight... not literally of course. And he's been amazing since the early 90's. His only real downfall is his knee injury.
Steiner was great for about a decade. But after WCW folded he's been entertaining on the mic but that's about it. |

Going with Steiner. Yeah his later matches weren't great but I always have a smile on my face when I see him. Rey usually gets a moan out of me.

Rey Mysterio.
Gave the nod to Steiner in terms of character/gimmick and promos (Poppa Pump Era) but felt Rey was better in terms of in-rings skills, legacy/stardom, and memorable moments. Also felt Steiner's greatness was very brief and more towards the end of WCW while Rey's greatness lasted for a lot longer. Steiner had a really good career as a tag wrestler though but still feel Rey was better overall. |

Anyone who is discounting Scott's ring work did not watching him in the late 80s to the early-mid 90s.

Mind you, choosing Rey over him isn't UNreasonable by any means, but weigh in the factors correctly. I'm pretty sure Rey cites Scott as one of his childhood heroes and influences, thus his use of the frankensteiner.

Scott was far better in the ring than most give him credit for. The Steiners were great in the ring early on. But Rey is one of the most insanely athletic wrestlers I've seen, helped get Lucha Libre over in the states, and was one of the most marketable talents ever. WCW unmasking him was one of the dumbest fucking ideas ever, both because it made Rey look like an average 12 year old boy but also because they failed to monetize on mask sales
I enjoyed Rey in the ring for the vast majority of his career whereas Steiner's work declined in the later WCW years and his matches became eyesores. Love both but Rey takes it for me. |

Mysterio I thought was better overall. If Steiner had maintained his ability from earlier in his career I might have gone with him.
