Wasn't Raimi the one who really wanted to do a Sinister 6 movie?

The only problem is it's got 4 unfilled positions. Plus Doc Ock and Sandman aren't quite on the 'sinister' side last time we saw them

I think Sony should pursue the rights of Kingpin from Dimension (or whoever owns the film rights to Daredevil). If they plan on making more Spiderman movies, it'd be a good path to go down. By putting a consistent antagonist and a brains behind the operation, the villians without as much depth, bond to parker, or name value will be more effective.
I think Lizard, Carnage and Kingpin should be next up in the pecking order |

It'd be great to see Kingpin have Tombstone, Rhino and Shocker as his 3 loyal goons. Smythe would be cool to be his right hand man as well.
In addition to that, you can add a major player to that plot like...Hobgoblin or Scorpion. That way you get a three way dance thing going on where Spidey, ___, and Kingpin (w/ goons) are all against eachother until of course everything comes against Spidey in the final act and he overcomes. How about Fiskcorp or whatever his company is coming into town to reclaim the territory of the now struggling Oscorp. They try to compete with them and Fisk experiments with the applied sciences divisions to benefit his crooked dealings (Shockers gauntlets, Rhynos armor), and try to get a military deal (ie Hobs or Scorp). Spidey of course notices the correlation of the strange crimes with Fisks arrival, and has run ins early on with his goons. Shocker and Rhino hand Spideys ass to him during a break in to Oscorp where they're stealing goblin technology. When a new Goblin mysteriously turns up Spidey assumes its Fisk, and the plot thickens when he finds out (we already know) the Goblin did come from Fisk but its fueding against him. It becomes a 3 way mess until Fisk and Goblin reach some kind of a comprimise to get rid of Spidey as first order of business. Spidey of course foils their plans, but Fisk is able to get off scott free and thanks to clever mob type shit and Jameson's antics, the whole thing gets chalked up to Spidey/Goblin and Fisk is off scott free. Just a quick idea, didn't think about it much I really made it up as I was typing. Discuss. Last edited by Jeritron; 06-01-2007 at 10:38 AM. |

Bring back Norman (Either he's still alive, or Harry just happened to conveniently be guided by hallucinations to the lair), and that's three. Besides, it wasn't my plan, I was just following what I've read Raimi wanted. Also, they don't really need to persue the rights of Kingpin. |

Isn't Kingpin's film properties owned by Dimension as part of the Daredevil franchise?

That would be horribly unusual.

Kingpin and Spidey are both owned by Marvel. However Marvel auctioned off the film rights to their properties long ago, and since they landed Daredevil, they own the rights to him. Similar things have gotten in the way before |

Venom was sold contracted by another studio as a seperate property, but the project never took off and the rights were sold/reverted back to Sony.
It's like Wolverine and Spiderman. They're both Marvel of course, but ones Sony and the other's Fox. This means its illegal for one to include the other character. Same goes for the villians under the agreement. Whatever the studio that made Daredevil is owns the exclusive movie rights to Daredevil, Elektra, Bulleye and Kingpin. And it's not Sony Columbia. I think it's Dimension, and I don't know how long their rights last for but I'd assume it's for a while longer. |

Except the "rights" you're talking about were for a single film in the case of most of the daredevil characters, and the contracts were...Well...Not on the terms you seem to think they are.

No, it was a multiple movie deal. It was actually 20th Century Fox, I was wrong. Currently, the sequel has fallen into development hell, and the properties are going to be going back to Marvel Studios which is newly formed and will be working with Paramount to distribute films. Kingpin and Michael Clarke Duncan were and continue to be a part of the future plans.

Too expensive, doesn't work very well with the mindset of big film companies.

Not to mention the film properties are owned by all different studios. |

Crossovers are hell for studios anyways. It took ages for AvP to happen. FvJ never happened despite numerous efforts by Paramont/New Line. It happened once New Line bought the rights of the dying F13 franchise for that sole reason, and even then it took forever.
On the comic side of things, Superman vs Batman was a development disaster. |

Most crossovers suck when you get into different comic houses owning them. Hell, a lot of times they suck because the authors and creators always want their guy to be big.
and then we get into the ego clusterfucks involved in the acting and directing. But to be fair, Jeritron, it took almost a decade to get a Spider-Man movie off the ground, and several properties never got off the ground. Everything from a supposed Iron Fist movie to Night Thrasher on UPN. And that's just recently. |
