DKR will be awesome. I have complete faith in Christopher Nolan, the studio is going to let him do what he wants to do, and I have yet to see a Nolan movie that didn't blow me away in all aspects.
I didn't mind the romantic aspect of Spider-Man 3. I just felt like adding Gwen Stacy for virtually no apparent reason was silly, and Venom should have been saved for the now canned fourth film. There always has to be some conflict to relate to.

Back to TDKR...apparently, some legit plot points have been leaked. Courtesy of badassdigest.com

SPOILER: show

I just talked to a good source near the Batcamp and have come away with information about The Dark Knight Rises that confirms lots of speculation from recent months. This is, technically, all spoilers. I feel pretty confident that this info is good, but know that Christopher Nolan has gotten very, very skilled at manipulating us nerds and isn’t above throwing out some misinformation from time to time.

Here goes nothing:

As she herself confirmed, Anne Hathaway will be Catwoman in the movie. I can’t tell you what role she has in the beginning, but by the end of the story Catwoman isn’t a villain but rather an ally of Batman. And who are they teaming up to take out?

The League of Shadows.

Headed by Talia Al’Ghul. With Bane, who is her muscle/possible love interest. And with Joseph Gordon-Levitt in tow. Is he playing Black Mask? My source didn’t know, but did know that Levitt is certainly an antagonist and involved with the League of Shadows.

I trust this source quite a bit, but again remember that there are rumors being fed out by the Batcamp that are purposefully untrue. And that there are people within the camp who have partial information – including my source here, who only knows some things and can only guess at others.

If this does indeed prove true, it'd be a nice way to wrap up the series full circle.

Apparently Pittsburgh is rumored to replace Chicago now? wtf?

Man I can't wait for this. Dark Knight is my ALL TIME favorite movie, and I can't wait to see what Nolan and crew have in store for the trilogy finale.

It might be that they felt they've done all they can with Chicago, visually and that moving locales and filming in a different city would help benefit in keeping the backdrop refreshing.

I love Chicago as Gotham, as it has a distinct feel to it that fits the idea. Batman is noir, and Chicago is perfect for that.
Of all cities, I feel as though Chicago is the closest to Gotham in every way, along with strong elements from New York as well (and obviously it's status as the country's "#1" city.)

But I also like the idea of the film depiction of Gotham not committing to one city so comfortably, primarily for the reason of adding to the visual diversity.
I love how we see different parts of the city in Begins and TDK (although a lot of Begins was in Chicago as well.)
If they end up going with Chicago fully again, I'll be happy, but at the same time bringing in Pittsburgh would be very cool.
They could find some really interesting locales. I fully expect them to explore new parts of Gotham and different looks.
Pittsburgh is a pretty old, industrial city so I'm sure it has a lot to offer. It's not like they go and blatantly use the skyline or anything, so Gotham will still be Gotham.

I'd love to see them find some old gothic looking churches or buildings. That's one thing there hasn't been a lot of in the Nolan films.
I don't want it over the top like the Burton ones, since these are just a different type of film, but a little of that might be cool in a scene or two. If it fits.

I completely agree and I welcome the use of a new city. Chicago was a great backdrop in the first two films, but I'm sure Pitts. will do a fine job for scenery. And like you said, there are some areas that could be put to good use, and I think keeping things fresh and adding different areas from different cities is a positive.

Yeah I guess you're right, I'm just partial to Chicago as Gotham as I love Chicago and think it's one of the best cities in the US, and was living there when they filmed Batman Begins.

Variety apparently confirms Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Alberto Falcone. They're also saying that Juno Temple is being pursued for the role of a "street smart Gotham girl". I know they've said no Robin in these movies, but Stephanie Brown, anyone?

I like Robin as a character (even though I far prefer Batman alone), but I'm torn on him being involved in a Nolan movie. Especially this one, which already has enough going on with Catwoman, Bane, supporting villians, and who knows what else on top of existing characters.

I'd be open to Robin in another film, but this is the finale of Nolan and Bale's run. Perhaps they will try to continue the same continuity with a new director.

And if Robin is included, I don't know how I'd feel about the female incarnation. It was great in Dark Knight Returns, but on the whole I think the character should be Dick Grayson if anything.

I'm not necessarily saying that if she were playing Stephanie Brown, she'd be Robin. In fact I'm almost sure she wouldn't be. But she could always be the Spoiler, or just the character of Stephanie Brown.

So Joseph Gordon-Levitt is going to play The Holiday Killer, Tom Hardy is going to play Bane, and Anne Hathaway is Catwoman. I'd say Batman is a bit outnumbered this time.

Yea they are obviously going to have somebody taking over the mob in the film now that Maroni is dead.
It's just something in the backdrop of the movie that is likely going to be there again, so Alberto Falcone is a good choice.

I almost doubt they'll do the holiday killer thing, unless it's a sub-plot. I wouldn't expect it to be any bigger of a character than Falcone, Maroni, Lao, etc.

Catwoman is rumored to be an ally of sorts by film's end, so she's not really a villian, per se. We also do not know to what extent Bane will used, so if Falcone is a character, the film could be doing the "mob hires a hitman" type story arc, which is what the Joker was in TDK.

The Holiday Killer is also kind of useless, seeing as he was used to help build up the Two Face character in the graphic novel. Him being the Holliday Killer would just give Batman something to do, but I'd rather he just take the place of Carmine and Maroni.

Also, Marion Cotillard has yet to be "officially" added to the cast via Nolan/WB confirmation. There's rumors she may play Thalia, so that may tie into using Falconi to infiltrate Gotham, much like Ra's did in Begins.

We shall see. Filming kicks off in May, so late March and all of April is going to be an exciting time.

I feel like the major villain will end up being Talia Al Ghul, with Bane and Alberto as subordinates. Catwoman will likely be neutral leaning towards Bats' side.

I was thinking Black Mask would get used. He would be great as a mob boss, and feels like a natural fit in Nolan's world.

But I trust Nolan's judgement over mine. I think with Bane and Catwoman and maybe a Scarecrow cameo, another masked character might be a bit much.
Plus he's another heavy duty character with a presence.
So I'm actually feeling Alberto.

The absence of Riddler and Black Mask actually make me wish Nolan had one more movie in him before he wrapped up his series, but such is life. I thought they, along with Catwoman, were virtually locks for the 3rd film.
But that's because I never in a million years thought they would have gone for Bane, which I'm thrilled about.

I'd much prefer they end it properly and where they feel it should, rather than strive to fit everyone I want in.

I wouldn't be surpised if they used Riddler, Black Mask and Robin straight away in the inevitable 4th movie, whether it's a continuation or reboot. I can't see them flat out rebooting again so soon, with how well liked Nolan's movies are. But at the same time I can't see them just saying "let's not make Batman movies for another 15 years."
Too much money to be made. I have a feeling they may try to do the same thing as Batman Forever. Not make it like the 60s tv show, but "reboot" with a new director and Batman, while staying in continuity.
I guess that will all depend on how Nolan "ends it" though.

Read on Batman On Film's Facebook page that Warner Bros. execs are planning on giving it a few years before bringing in a new director and rebooting the Batman franchise again once Nolan delivers his 3rd and final installment.

Not sure how I feel about this yet...

It's inevitable, if it sucks, just ignore it. Nolan made his mark (with 3 movies).

I wanna see them take a more comic approach to it anyways, cause its a comic, and not real. Nolans approach isnt bad but theres so much more that can be done that he wont do because its not "realistic".

I want the next production team to be more open to Robin and the rest of the Gotham Knights, as well as crossovers. I love Nolan's take but yeah, it is a comic book universe. The exclusive universe angle is the one thing I heavily disagree with Nolan about.

They should def boost up the sci-fi elements by at least 30%.... or whatever works. If they could make a Batman movie look like the Matrix and work... go for it.

Maybe not the Matrix but certainly more of Bruce's hi-tech and comic book-y nature. Plus Robin.

If you want it more Sci-Fi, how would you feel about them using Batman Beyond? And do you think Joe McAverage would go see a Batman movie with Bruce Wayne NOT in the Batsuit?

More sci-fi elements doesn't mean balls out future setting, you're getting extreme here. There's a lot of ground between Nolan-Batman and Batman Beyond.

And actually yeah, I'd wager people would dig Terry McGuiness in his own movie. Take the season two tone with the high school life, cast a modern teen idol as Terry, go for some stunt casting for an elderly Bruce (Keaton), and go for stylish instead of mystery. You give the kids too much credit thinking they'd have a problem with a non-Bruce batman, and you also underestimate how much people actually liked Beyond. lol

But I digress; we can have it more comic-book like without going to the future.

As much as I've loved these last Batman movies, I don't know if I could go back to the comic/syfy style movies.

It's wierd though, I have always despised Robin as a character (no matter who was in the suit) I never have liked the idea of Batman needing a sidekick. I understand it, but I have never really liked it. Lately though I've been digging Nightwing/Grayson. If they are going to change up the style of the Batman movies, I think it would be cool if they continued this universe on with Nightwing even if Nolan and the Batman character don't have any contribution. Just have him as someone that was inspired by the idea Bruce layed down and could actually stand a chance against the villans, unlike those clowns in DK, and go from there just in another city.

I have really enjoyed this gritty, realistic style and even if it doesn't have Batman as long as it has some ties to the character it could be successful and entertaining.

It s inevitable that Robin pops up in the next series of Bat films. They need to do it properly though. Have Batman becoming more and more viscous, and beginning to lose his humanity, only to find himself grounded once more with the arrival of Robin, would be an interest take on his psychology. I'm fairly certain that's how Tim Drake's Robin came about.

After much speculation and some initial confusion, Marion Cotillard and Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Roles in 2012 Batman threequel The Dark Knight Rises are public knowledge thanks to official word from Warner Bros., as reported on Deadline and the other usual sources.

Cotillard is playing Miranda Tate, described in the press release as “a Wayne Enterprises board member eager to help a still-grieving Bruce Wayne resume his father’s philanthropic endeavors for Gotham.” Gordon-Levitt is John Blake, “a Gotham City beat cop assigned to special duty under the command of Commissioner Gordon.” Both characters appear to be original to the movie, and not adapted from the comic books. Last month, reports circulated that Gordon-Levitt would be playing mobster offspring Alberto Falcone, from Batman: The Long Halloween.
