Taz all day. Raven was fun but never seemed legit to me. Taz seemed like someone who would kill me.

When Taz wrestled in ECW, he looked like he had a background in amateur wrestling and UFC. Even though I was essentially a smart mark in those days, Taz was so excellent in the ring and on the mic, he made a rube out of me because that was his job and he did it well.
It's a pity he wasn't properly used in the World Wrestling Federation. With the exception of his program with Lawler and what he did on on MTV's "Tough Enough", he was completely misused. They turned that man into a jobber, then a mediocre commentator on what was at that time Vince's B-rated show. Just another victim. |

I actually like Raven. He's had good gimmicks, hes been part of a fun stable with the flock, hes had excellent feuds and matches. His program with Kanyon was one of my favorites ever.
But he's just not the human suplex machine. He didn't have that extra gear that made him believable. Taz made people believe he would legit fuck someone up. He was scary. His arsenal of moves devastating. And then he would choke your bitch ass out just like he did Kurt Freaking Angle. Kurt always talked of wrestling with a BROKEN FREAKING NECK. Well Taz whooped ass with NO FREAKING NECK. He was the best of the best ECW had to offer and I miss him |

Went with Tazz (sorry, I know him as "2 'z' Tazz"). I've got tremendous respect for both guys here, but Tazz was just a 111% bona fide badass. And as far as him on commentary in WWE from c.2002-2009, I honestly didn't find him any worse than King on RAW.

Raven for me. Loved him in WCW as a kid, even back then I knew he was talented. workrate about the same in my eyes, but Raven way ahead in promo ability....

Raven by a lot. Much better character. Better in the ring, better on the mic.

Raven for me. Was way more invested in him and "enthralled" in his feuds/stories in WCW than I was for Tazz in WWE.....
Have not seen either in ECW, so I'm judging based on everything else only.... and when I do that, it isn't close. |

Voted Taz because he's just more memorable to me. A lot of that might have to do with how long he stuck around as a commentator so he's more ingrained in my mind, but whatever.

I got to see him live once and he wrestled Sabu in a "non-sanctioned FTW Title match" whatever that means. Got a bunch of blood on my sneakers following them around the "arena". Was insane. First time I ever saw Taz lose a match too, but I love every bit of his work. Raven was cool as hell too, but his matches were usually pretty boring for me in ECW. I loved his stuff in WCW and Raven had my favorite Goldberg match of all time for the US Title. His promos were pretty great too. Still, Taz all the way. |

Good points all around...still really torn.
Raven had a hot run in ring around...97/98? Matches were very good. Outside of the run his inring stuff was pretty lazy. He told great stories though, always. Taz was a very exciting worker. Somoa Joe has made career off of mimicking it to this day. Raven was a great promo. At his peak he was top5ish in the world. Taz never cut a good promo. Ever. Good tag lines at most. Raven probably peaked a bit higher... Dunno. Still torn. |

Taz.
Raven was one of those occasions where the gimmick and the person behind it were just a perfect fit and obviously deserves plenty of respect. But Taz was just exactly what I wanted to see in wrestling. In the ring I never found Raven to be anything particularly inspirational. |

I think Raven has a better character and has his own sort of presence about him. I think i enjoyed their ECW work an equal amount.
For me, the difference comes from their success in the big two companies. Taz started hot before being completely jobbed out and ridiculed. Raven was a very respectable mid carder in WCW and not only had some good matches, but a really interesting stable in The Flock and managed to become US Champ. I also really enjoyed his 2-3 years in WWE with his Hardcore run. He was a key figure in a fun division and I think he brought more to the table than Tazz did in his WWE run. Raven produced better TV in his runs in the top promotions while seriously rivalling Taz's massive contribution to ECW. That, and his overall promo work and story-telling push him ahead of Taz for me. |

Man, I was pretty into ECW back in the day, but everytime you put these ECW guys on Better Wrestler I just see them and think "man, I didn't really care for him." Just goes to show you how good Paul Heyman was at hiding weaknesses and booking to guys' strengths.
Not really a fan of either guy. But I think I'd rather have Taz(z) as a wrestler or announcer over Raven. |

Raven. Loved Raven's Flock back in the day, and enjoyed his team with Saturn. Actually believed he really was a "rich kid" as well coz hey I was a ten year-old mark back then.

Tough choice but gave the slight edge to Raven.
Both were good in terms of in-rings skills and with their characters but Raven was better with promos. Both were really great in ECW but never reached similar potential in WCW and WWE. Felt out of the two, Raven probably could have become a bigger star had WCW done a better job handling him. Taz also had issues of not being handled well in the WWE but also had the problem of his in-ring WWE career getting cut short due to years of wear and tear from the ECW style. |

Taz did about as well as he could in the WWE. Taz was a big fish in a small pond in ECW. He was a guppy in the WWE. Taz could really only exist in ECW. I can't say the same for Raven.

Raven was one of my early favorites. He was such a good talker and he created such a convincing character for himself. Good hand in the ring, too.
WWE absolutely misused him. |

I voted Taz. I landed on preference. These guys are just so close, each excelling where the other was weak.

This was a lot harder than I thought. I'm a fan of both guys. I went to Taz based on in ring stuff really, I enjoyed Taz' matches a little bit more. Raven wins hands down in the promo category.

True. Although if he was in today's WWE he would have thrived thanks to all the shorties.
