More details here:
http://wrestlingnews.co/breaking-new...dly-quits-wwe/ Hmmm...will WWE take her to court potentially for breach of contract? |

Good idea. Quit at such a young age and burn any bridges.

Same source has been pretty sketchy for reliability in the past. The more reliable sheets are saying Paige is still considering her options and hasn't quit yet. Seems like all he did was read some sheet news and then assumed what could happen next.
Last time with the Punk stuff, he claimed neither guy was friends anymore because they no longer followed each other on Twitter and Cabana was backstage at a WWE event as proof. Nobody else has confirmed the friendship ending to be true yet nor what Cabana was doing backstage. |

Man, who the fuck can blame Paige? Imagine how bad things must be to want to quit your dream job like that. Can't be too dreamy.
Paige has got all the talent necessary to make a splash wherever she goes. She's got a good image, she's good in the ring -- Billy Corgan is stupid if he doesn't make a play for her and Alberto. Now there might finally be a chance of my dream Paige vs. Saraya feud. I'm telling you, that is money. |

Hope Lawler got to bang her while he had the chance before she got too old for him.

Too bad. She might've been good but it seemed she stopped caring after a while. Also screaming "this is my house" 8 times a match got old really fast.

I imagine the company will let her out of her contract. It's probably the stuff with Total Divas that is actually harder to get out of, because I imagine E! likes to know who is going to be on the show for promotional reasons and to block things out.
If the WWE did try to sabotage her relationship with Alberto Del Rio though, I can imagine her having some leverage to get an early release with a reasonable no compete cause that will take her through wherever they are up to with Total Divas +90 days or whatever. |

The WWE does not want the bad press of keeping someone who is essentially a baby locked up for the prime years of her life.

That being said, could you imagine the fucking pop she'll get in 2019 when she is finally free from the WWE prison? If they don't let her out, she can go travel, live her early years out (hopefully staying in ring shape) and then she can come in and be the biggest babyface star of a company's Women's Division.
Long-term vision is lacking from professional wrestling these days because it generates so much content in a serial format. It might be a mixed blessing to have to keep your hands off Paige for three years or so. |

How about firing a guy after an altercation started by an employee making a racially insensitive remark, bringing him back after he's successful elsewhere, then interfere in his love life and try to break up the relationship. WWE: Classy as always.

People know she's good though. They'll forget about her being an annoying brat. Also her being chained down means we can't have her, and people want what they can't have. They'll feel sorry for her. Paige has legitimately got more star potential than most of the girls you listed, in my opinion. That's a subjective discussion, but her poor presentation in the WWE won't get in he way of her being regarded as a big deal elsewhere -- especially if they play up what worked about her in NXT.

Well yah, if you take a role player in the NBA or MLB and send them to the D-League or Triple A they'll dominate. Dosen't mean that's where they should be though.

Really don't think anyone will give a shit about Paige if she randomly shows up to a event in 2019. Same thing for any woman wrestler.

Especially if she CAN'T show up anywhere else. If she DOESN'T show up, that's an entirely different thing.

Can't see it. You have way more faith in the drawing power of women wrestling than me. They will always just be second tier and Paige wasn't in the WWE anywhere near long enough for the casual person to remember her as anything special.

I'm sure her role in Santa's Little Helper was good enough to get her a cameo in the next Sharknado if she wants. Probably on the next season of Big Brother too.

Wendi Richter's contribution to the WWF's Rock 'n' Wrestling success is marginalized by the history. Sable, whatever you think of her, was probably the second most over star the WWF had next to Stone Cold Steve Austin at one point. Gail Kim was getting higher ratings than Kurt Angle in TNA at one point. You're allowed to not like women's wrestling or think that liking it right now is a bit of a bandwagon thing, and that's cool. I spent a lot of the SmackDown Live thread criticizing Alexa Bliss' performance, because I just don't think she is anywhere NEAR ready. In fact, given how scant each division currently is, I still think there are some talent involved that just aren't going to work with the new aesthetic of women's wrestling. Spoiler warning: Bliss is one of them, but Naomi is another. I know she's athletic and supposedly "good," but she still reeks of "look at me doing things" Diva. Anyway, I digress -- you're allowed to think it's shit, but it is an effective component to any wrestling product. Paige -- given her ring skills, her appearance, her experience in the business, her reputation for having edge and being important to women's wrestling undergoing that shift of perception -- has got the potential to effect whatever division she is in. She's as recognizable as any woman the WWE currently has under contract. MAYBE Nikki Bella has gotten more media attention with her appearances at Kids Choice Awards and stuff. I don't think you can effectively argue that Sasha Banks, for instance, is more known worldwide now than Paige is. She's more over at the moment, sure, but that's a temporary argument. If Paige beat Sasha for the Women's Title on WWE TV and Sasha disappeared then Paige would be more over. And the thing is, you don't NEED to be familiar with Paige to understand her story. I'm thinking of TNA now, okay, just for clarification. If WWE gets her to sit at home for three more years until she gets out of her contract. When she shows up in TNA, casual fans aren't watching it anyway. But let's say Corgan turns things around and they're a sustainable option for wrestlers and maybe there are a few fresh eyeballs on the product -- that is why you have announcers and vignettes. That why you explain her story -- signed by the WWE at a young age to be a centerpiece of their women's movement, but forced to appear in reality shows and then kept under contract and forced to sit at home. If you stick your finger in the wind, you can feel that pro-female agency is a big thing in culture at the moment. It obviously spreads over to politics more importantly, but it's certainly going to be present in sports and entertainment. Forcing a young girl to sit out her prime years at home because she got a contract pressed into her face before she was old enough to drink is an instant babyface story for Paige to overcome when she shows up somewhere else. You want people to ask "Who is that? Where has she been?" and if the answers are "She used to work for WWE and they've had her under lock and key for four years" it instantly builds her prestige. |

Considering Sharknado is on Syfy she would have a better chance landing a Sharknado role if she stayed in WWE.

I was really into Paige before she started on Total Divas. After that her character took a hit and just didn't feel as legitimate. Her and AJ Lee were about the only two women on the roster that were legit.
If she has to sit at home for three years then there is no way she's a big draw in 2019. I dont think she will have to set out that long though. If she does leave the best place for her to go would be TNA. ROH is just starting the Women of Honor and don't have a title so her going there wouldn't be the best choice unless they want to build the division around her. TNA allows the women to do just as much as the men and I think her and Gail could have some killer matches. |
