Huh, I've not seen Mike Mizzan since he hosted Smackdown shows back in the day. He's improved a lot and is dynamite on Talking Smack.

Just watched this show. Was good.
As opposed to RAW where I ended up fast forwarding 90% of the show, I think the only thing I fast forwarded through on this show was the Luke Harper/Kane match. DAMN @ that Styles Clash on Ellsworth...... R.I.P. |

• I can really see Alexa winning at TLC. The opening segment was good but I still believe that Lynch shouldn't be allowed near a mic, some of the stuff she was saying was just random and plain confusing/stupid.
Calling herself a honey badger was probably the worse one. What was that all about? But most of all, why? If she wanted to reference a strong and ruthless animal, she could have went with a lioness or a shark, but no, she went with a honey badger for whatever reason. Also, I really hope she doesn't make a habit of "pulling a Sheamus" and telling stories of her family. Instead of that, she could brush up on her insults. Calling Alexa "Puss in Boots" was just slightly cringe-worthy. How that's an insult, I'll never know. Alexa on the other hand, was great. Some of the insults she was coming away with were pretty ruthless and fantastically "heelish", especially the potato farm one. I actually pulled that "oooh" face and had a wee chuckle when she said it. What made it worse was that she also threw in a shot at her voice/accent too. Also, Alexa is ambidextrous. I didn't know that. That makes both of us. • I see that Otunga discovered tattoo parlors. That probably explains why he's been wearing a jacket at the table for a couple of weeks now. His tattoos probably weren't "ready" to be shown off yet. • I think this is the first or second time I've heard American Alpha talk. Gable came across slightly heelish with the way he spoke to Dasha. • Carmella seems more obsessed with Cena than Nikki. The promo was pretty bad but thankfully this will all end on Sunday. • Ellsworth got his ass handed to him and I expect he'll be out for a good while and will probably return during the Royal Rumble match. • American Alpha wearing better attire this week. They should just stick to solid colour designs. The match was good though but at this point, I feel like American Alpha will never be champions and that their soul purpose is to forever be that team that just loses out on a shot at the titles due to shenanigans from a heel tag team. • Overall, SmackDown was good even though it felt slightly subdued/quieter than usual. Still, it's actually made me look forward to Sunday. It should be good. |

I'm not too fussed about Nikki getting this push, but I do agree about Alicia Fox though. She should be involved in the women's division over on Raw and not be falling in love with Cedric Alexander.

Their previous attire looked stupid and made no sense. It made them look like cheap amateurs. What do cosmic and spacey-like designs have to do with American Alpha? With them using solid colour designs, it makes them look much more professional and modern in my opinion. |

Her facial expressions are great and they make sense. Becky Lynch randomly called herself a honey badger. Bliss was spot on to pull the face she did. If I was having a shouting match with someone I didn't like and they suddenly called themselves a honey badger, I'd pull the same face, and I'm pretty sure the majority of people would do too. I doubt anyone would keep a straight face at that. I wouldn't say the crowd died after the table spot. The face champion just started a fight with her rival and to everyone's surprise, she lost that fight. I would say the crowd were surprised but not dead. If they were like me, I was expecting either Alexa to go through the table or nobody at all. I was a bit surprised too when Lynch went through the table. Quote:
They were chanting "table" until Alexa began fighting back on the top rope. That's when the boos began. Noid, I like you. You're a cool guy. But are you fucking crazy? Alexa is probably one of the best on the mic in both women's divisions. She's miles better than Carmella and also Sasha Banks and better than Bayley and Becky Lynch. |

I love you Cool King, so please don't take this personally, but you and the forum are just wrong about Alexa Bliss. She is awful. She constantly looks like she is trying to remember lines, her facial expressions aren't great, they are poor actress mugging quality, without the same hilarious quality that a William Regal has. She's B+ high school drama. Those insults were bullshit quasi-xenophobic anti-Irish horse-shit too. Becky going into the scripted tirade about her little cousin was shitty stuff too, but if you want to compare that to Sheamus, Bliss' casual racism is up there.
The Disney stuff is weak too. Becky was like "you're obsessed with Disney" and then she went right back to life not being a fairy tale. Becky is only really good when she gets to go on her own tangents and hype herself up, because the writers can't invoke her voice with a script, but at least she has an organic voice. The crowd was hot for the fight and then died when Becky went through the table. Watch again for yourself: That energy is gone. You hear some boos when she elbows Becky on top, but after the pop for the spot it's pretty darn quiet. Some very feint booing. Not enough to call the segment over. Also, the honey badger thing, while I'm not a huge fan of it, is a reference to that viral video that went around about the honey badger. It's supposed to emphasize Becky's "quirky" nature. She loves the dorky videos on the internet of obscure bad-ass animals, you see. A lioness or whatever you suggested would play it too straight, because she's off-color and off-center see? I'm not sure if it was her idea or not, but it sounds like something one of the writers would have come up with it. |

You're right about Alpha's gear too. It was designed to remind people of the Steiner Brothers, and it worked for a moment, but they need to have their own look and style. The American themed stuff brings back memories of Team Angle, but it suits the "American Alpha" theme. They'll probably get red and white ones and eventually some personalized ones with logos and such.

Nah, the switch is good. These are dudes that are supposed to be proud to wear American singlets. It's all cool and it does make them look slicker. They do look...very binary. I've never minded that look, but I expect the look to get toggled and improved upon.

Just ranking the women on SmackDown, via promo ability, you probably have to put Nikki Bella at the top, Carmella next, then Becky, Alexa, Natalya and Naomi -- in that order. In terms of ring skill, it'd go Natalya, Becky, Nikki, Naomi and then either Alexa or Carmella. I don't see where this "Alexa is so great" thing comes from objectively. Do people really think she is better than even Naomi or Nikki? Do people really rank her as an honest-to-god promo?
It's because she's hot and dresses like Harley Quinn. That's it. She doesn't even have a good gait, unless she's posing for a photo in a backstage segment. She has a "bitch walk" where she rolls her eyes at the crowd as she walks past, but when she stands in the ring she looks like a normal person and tiny for that matter, too. Nikki Bella's "look at me" stance is weird after she's just tried to sell being furious at Carmella, but at least she doesn't mouse away. Carmella at least has that New York swagger thing, which I find annoying, but at least makes her stand out. I dunno, the Alexa love just REALLY weirds me out, because as soon as you stack her up against the other women on her own show, she's got to be objectively be bottom-half. She's charismatic and good looking, I'll give her that, so I could give her higher priority over, say, Naomi and Carmella -- but that's about it. Being the magazine cover girl should only be able to get you so far in the current environment. Oh, and I haven't even considered Eva Marie in there. Her heat alone puts her probably higher than Bliss, even though the ring work probably brings her back down. But let's put her behind Bliss for the lack of ring work. Alexa Bliss is still 4/7. She's not even top half on SmackDown. You then want to compare her to Charlotte, Sasha, Bayley, Alicia Fox, Emma and Nia Jax. If Paige mends her ways with the WWE, she is also much better in-ring and generally has a better presence (when she's presented right). Summer Rae is probably comparable in the ring and does a similar bitch thing -- people forget that she was better in NXT than Bliss was in NXT. Lana is also a better talker and has better poise, although I'm not sure how her charisma will translate to the ring. There's also Maryse who could be paid to get back into the ring at any moment and could do bitch better than Alexa. Bliss is FINE. She's already got more overall value than a lot of girls who have been around for years (I'm looking at Naomi and probably Summer Rae and Alicia Fox at this point, sadly). She will get better and better, and her hard work will eventually turn her into a great three-dimensional character. But how can anyone objectively say she deserves one of two champion spots, or even in the best five women in the company when she barely makes the best five on SmackDown? She should talk shit then get punched in the mouth for the pop. She can work longer on house shows and use her hotness to get over a heel team. Dress her up as a cop and put her with Fandango & Breeze. Dress her in tattered rags and put her with The Wyatt Family. I GUARANTEE it will be more over than her wrestling at this point in her extremely short career and still very young life. This is like pushing a worse at talking 2000 Trish Stratus to the Women's Title, instead of post-Finlay Trish Stratus. It's insanity, because once Bliss gets exposed at a top level and it becomes obvious to people, her stock will drop. If you love her so much, let her learn and grow. |

I really don't get where you're getting this idea that she's awful from. In the past, you've made it sound like she's the worst female ever to step foot in the ring with some of your tirades and it just leaves me confused. I wouldn't really say she's the best the WWE has right now, not at all, but I certainly wouldn't say she's awful or the worst. I would say she's the best when it comes to development on the main roster. She's been a part of the main roster for around five months now and she's developed so much since then. Her promos are better, as is her in-ring work and character portrayal. If you watch her first appearance on SmackDown after the draft, she was very generic and just your average "pretty blonde" girl who spoke like a porn star. I even mentioned it in that SmackDown thread that I wasn't a fan of her and that she just reminded me of a porn star. I didn't like her. Her first match wasn't that great either. She was quite "wooden" with her execution of some moves and how she ran the ropes. She reminded me of Kelly Kelly and what she was like in the ring. If you watch her now, for example, the Women's Championship match in Glasgow, you can see a big change in all what I mentioned before. She's more confident in the ring and in portraying her character and her execution of her moves flows smoother and looks more professional. Her mic work has since gotten much better too. She doesn't sound like a generic blonde or porn star anymore for one thing. I would say that it's all down to three things: • Her continued training • Her dedication • Her work with Becky Lynch The latter being a major factor in her development. Becky Lynch is good. She's really good, but I just feel her mic work lets her down, but if Alexa was working with anyone else, I feel she wouldn't have developed as fast and as well as she has. Speaking of mic skills, I really wouldn't add Alexa's "quasi-xenophobic anti-Irish horse-shit" up there with Sheamus though, as Sheamus' casual racism was when he was a face. There was no need for it and it worked against him as a face. Alexa is a bitch and mentioning a potato farm to an Irish woman is such a bitch move that it worked well. It added some good ol' fashioned realism to this feud, along with Becky calling Alexa a bitch, with a big part being how she delivered the line. As for the video, the segment is over a few seconds after Becky went through the table. She went through the table, much to the surprise of the crowd, who booed Alexa, then with Alexa sitting on the top rope smiling over a fallen Becky Lynch, a replay is shown then Alexa's music hits. The segment ended with boos and rightfully so as Becky got put through a table. As for the honey badger thing, I get the reference but it's just so old now that it's somewhat cringe-worthy. The reference is going back all the way to 2011. A five year old internet reference is just awkward, as is anything from the internet that's referenced years after it hit it's "peak". It's like Curt Hawkins and his Chuck Norris Facts, in a way. That's cringe-worthy, but it works because he's a dork and a slightly comedic heel. If he was a face, it just wouldn't work because it's such an old reference and he would just come across as trying too hard to be "cool", if you know what I mean. That's kind of what I got from Becky. Becky Lynch has never stuck me as being "quirky" if I'm honest, so maybe that's why I'm not a fan of the honey badger line, but if this is the beginning of her "quirkyness" growing, then cool, I guess. Quote:
• Nikki • Natalya • Alexa • Becky • Naomi • Carmella • Eva As for ring skills: • Natalya • Becky • Nikki • Alexa • Naomi • Carmella • Eva I wouldn't say I like her because "she's hot and dresses like Harley Quinn", because I don't. Harley Quinn does nothing for me, because I don't like Batman, his universe, DC Comics or any comics really. I'm not a comic fan at all. The closest I get to comics are Scottish comics and they are nothing like the Marvel and DC Comics. In fact, her dressing like Harley Quinn would have most likely put me off of her if I didn't like her so much. I like Alexa Bliss because she's interesting and she's different. She's this tiny evil bitch who only cares about getting her hands on the title. When you look at the other women, they're somewhat generic when you put them against Alexa. They've either got a boob job and always want to look beautiful (Nikki & Eva) or their gimmick has them being too concerned about being "cool" (Naomi, Carmella, Nikki and to an extent, Becky), whereas with Alexa, you've got this tiny heartless woman who just wants to be champion. She doesn't care about her tits or looking glamorous or "cool". She just goes out to the ring, wearing proper ring attire and tries to win matches. I like that. I think it's both entertaining and interesting. I would say her appearance makes up around 20%-30% of why I like her. She's an attractive woman, anyone can see that, but I wouldn't say that and her dressing like Harley Quinn is why I like her. Comparing her to the Raw women, I'd say she still makes the top half. I would say she's better that the majority of them. I'd only put Charlotte and Alicia Fox above her. Nia Jax and Dana Brooke are two other girls I like so I'd probable put Alexa level with them but under Charlotte and Alicia Fox. I would say she deserves the championship as it would be the next step of her development. Just compare her to the other woman who started on the main roster the same time as her, Carmella. In my opinion, Carmella is shockingly bad in the ring. I remember one of her matches where she placed her foot on the top turnbuckle and instead of ramming her opponent's head into her foot, as you do, she rammed the head into the middle turnbuckle, where there was no foot. I also remember her failing to jump a barricade. These are all very basic and easy things to do but she failed at them. She's also very stiff and "wooden" when she's in the ring and her promo ability is reminiscent of an indy heel who's only just gotten into the business. She's not really developed at all. She's just remained terrible. Whereas, Alexa on the other hand started off bad. She was very much like Kelly Kelly (as I mentioned before), but now, you can notice the difference between "New to SmackDown Alexa" and "#1 Contender Alexa". When compared to Carmella, she's rocketed way out in front since both joined the main roster. I feel it's right for her to become champion, as it'll keep this good feud she has with Becky going but also, it'll be a new journey for her that will provide new challenges and allow her to develop even more, both as a wrestler and for the character. Also, you're suggesting that Alexa Bliss should dress up as a cop? Are you wanting the Internet to melt? The vast majority of male wrestling fans will explode if they see Alexa Bliss dressed as a cop. That would probably be a dream come true for those men and also those young lads that are just discovering that certain women can make their penis' go hard. But seriously, I don't think aligning her with a team would work, especially The Wyatt Family. She's too attractive to be with The Wyatt's. I think she's good where she is and is decently over as a heel. It's funny that you mention Trish Stratus, because I too think of Trish Stratus when I see Alexa. Don't get me wrong though, I don't mean that in a way where I think she's at Trish's level, because she's nowhere near that and has a long long long way to go to get to that point, but it's how fast she's developed that reminds me of Trish. I know I keep mentioning Alexa's development but it's like Trish's. I remember one day Trish was bad, then all of a sudden, she was better and she just kept quickly getting better and better. It may not be at the same speed as Trish, but I see similar things when I see Alexa. Anyway, to end this massive novel of a post, all I can really say is that Alexa isn't as bad as you make her out to be, but I'm sure you would say that she's not as good as I make her out to be. I really think that if Alexa wins the title on Sunday, you'll see a brand new Alexa Bliss over the following weeks, and hopefully, it'll be one you'll like, even if it is a little bit. |

Sorry to make you write so much, man, haha. Yeah, I find we do agree on most things, but we just aren't on the same page with Bliss. That negative assessment you made when you first saw her is where I still stand on her. Kelly Kelly is a perfect comparison, only Bliss is nowhere near as annoying with her voice.
I think our objective summaries are about the same, except I prefer how organic Becky can come off on the mic, so I'd rank her above Alexa. I haven't been watching as much as I usually would lately, so maybe this week isn't a fair indicator, but Carmella's promo on SmackDown was much better than Bliss', in my opinion. I haven't seen them in the ring recently, but Carmella was also better last time I saw them. Maybe that's changed? I think we both agree that Alexa is middle-of-the-road though, which is why it's just annoying you can't objectively respond to her without being called out for it. It's extremely weird to me. I'll watch her and Becky's match at TLC. I enjoyed the last match I saw of them. I've since seen Bliss take a dropkick and stand for about a second longer than she should before throwing herself down. She works best when her matches have been planned out like fuck though, and she is a trooper, so I imagine she'll go through a table like a boss on Sunday. I think she'll win the match, but it'll be some sort of screwy finish where she goes through first, but the ref doesn't see it, and then Becky goes through or something. I would rather Becky be more serious, by the way -- I don't like the forced "look how adorable I am" shit, but that's just where I think it's coming from. I'd rather she just beat bitches in seconds with the Armbar. I'm curious to know what Scottish comics are like, haha. |

I tried to find images to show as example but they all suck.
We've got "The Broons", which is basically about a big family and most of the stories involve the generation gaps between the family members and also misunderstandings which lead to humorous results. We've also got "Oor Wullie", which is about a boy who generally just gets up to mischief. Both of them are pretty old comics and are in the Scots language (hence the names) and because of that, they only really tend to be popular in Scotland, and they're also very rarely printed in colour. Other comics are "The Beano" and "The Dandy", which unlike "The Broons" & "Oor Wullie" are popular all over the UK and they feature a variety of characters and their own comic strips. They too are pretty old comics and all four comics were created in my hometown, which probably explains why I like them over American comics, as I grew up reading them and not Marvel & DC comics. Also, the publisher of those comics also publishes the WWE Kids Magazine, so that's kinda cool I guess. |
