Official WWE:Smackdown "Here Comes The Pain" Thread
I thought i'd start off a new, fresh topic, without an incredibly stupid opening post...
(Take THAT, wrestling_god) Had an excellent match with Kurt Angle today, back and forth for about 20mins, finally managed to get him to stay down for the 1-2-3 after an chairshot when the ref was down, followed by an F-5... [/font] |

I've just about filled up a memory card with CAWs (roster updates, no legends or non-WWEers), so now I'm setting up big tournaments. I have no life whatsoever, so it's time for the annual SD game self-booked season (that I end up abandoning some time before Wrestlemania). I just wish my CAWs could compete. It doesn't seem right having the APA members ranked behind Stephanie McMahon.

Well, I just finished making a butt-load of classic WWF/WCW/NWA CAW's, and I'm planning on running a season mode with them all, just for the hell of it. I've set it up so that the Raw brand is like the old WWF, and Smackdown is the NWA/WCW. I'm playing it as my CAW Hulk Hogan, and have already gone into Season mode before and changed the champions:
World Heavyweight Champion: Andre the Giant WWE Champion: Ric Flair Intercontinental Champion: Honky Tonk Man (who else?) U.S. Champion: Ricky Steamboat World Tag Team Champions: The Road Warriors WWE Tag Team Champions: The Midnight Express Hardcore Champion: Terry Funk Women's Champion: Didn't do one, since I didn't feel like making a CAW of the Fabulous Moolah or Madusa Cruiserweight Champion: Mil Mascaras Should be fun, just for nostalgia's sake. I'll probably end up quitting before Wrestlemania, but whatever. |

This is a "non-shi>tty" Official WWE:Smackdown "Here Comes The Pain" Thread..... Anyway, Chris Benoit is now the WWE World Champion in my season, he won it off of Kurt Angle after a 15min back and fourth match. Won after a german suplex, diving headbutt, then a crossface... |

You know what's be kinda fun?
You know those moments when both wrestlers are down onscreen on Raw or Smackdown? And it's a suspenseful moment as we wait to see who gets up? They should have made a "hit any button" screen for that. Imagine the fun watching yoru buddy scream at the screen as he desperately tries to getto his feet faster than his opponent... |

Good thing all wrestling games are pretty much the same thing with a few new match types and updated characters.

I've been having a ball with this game. I started a season with Randy Orton and I'm currently in the Evolution Stable with Flair, Trips, and Victoria. The only reason Vic is in there is cause I had to pick between she and Jazz.
They put me in a Triple Threat match with Kevin Nash and Goldberg, and I haven't had this much fun since playing as Stone Cold Steve Austin back in the No Mercy days. The match ended with 2 quick RKO's, the first on Goldberg, the second on Nash... then pinned Nash. The match had it's close calls and high spots though. If I earn attribute points with Orton, then start another season can I use the points I earned to beef up another wrestler? I want to make Cena, HBK, and RVD stronger than they are. It sucks that you can't suplex Batista with RVD or HBK. |

I think you should still have at least a chance of pulling SOMETHING off. Even if you went to chokeslam someone five times your size, only to discover that he weighs too much for you to lift, you shouldn't always just forfeit the advantage because of it (especially with how easy it is to do the wrong move in SD! controls). Meanwhile, as far as I've seen, XP are non-transferrable. |

The one thing No Mercy did have over Smackdown HCTP is that if you button bashed enough you COULD slam a guy like Rikishi. Which made it a little more realistic as far as trying harder to slam bigger guys. |

I tried to start a season with Randy Orton, but my screen goes black and all I hear is the crowd's cheers when it's time for his entrance. I have to reset the game when it does that cause i can't press start to get out of that. Two weeks I have the game and I already have a glitch.
Anyways I won the World Heavyweight Title with John Cena, and the WWE Title with Chris Benoit. Is the CAW thread up yet? |

Let's say you have 5 size categories (Arbitrary pick). 1 is the smallest, 5 is the largest. Size category 5 can pick up everyone no problem. Big Show really shouldn't have trouble lifting most people. Size category 4 is almost as good off. Has some trouble lifting a 5, with some chance of being unable to do so. Size category 3 can lift 4 as 4 can lift 5, but lifting 5 becomes a slim probability, and will probably not end up in favor of the littler guy. Anything below that, you're pissing in the wind. Additionally, I'd have certain moves affect that. Cena's F-U really doesn't take as much strength as some of the chokeslams out there. Not that the move isn't impressive or cool, it's just that it's gonna be easier for someone to F-U the Big Show than to chokeslam 'em. I'd also like to see "shaky" animations for that. You're right. Angle Slamming Show shouldn't look like Angle Slamming Benoit, for example. It's hard to lift that fat an ass into the air. I liked the fact that everyone had a shot on No Mercy, even the little guys, to pull something off. I just wish there were more options. Plus, CWs should really have more options to NOT try and lift people up. You really don't see Rey Mysterio trying to F-5 the Big Show that often anyways. |

Of course I spent the whole match doing cheap ass top rope moves and a lot of rail / poll bashing outside of the ring... but I still beat him with one finisher. |

I hear ya. Honestly, in the harder difficulty settings, it really doesn't matter how good you are at the game, because it's pretty much a gamble as to whether or not your moves actually work. I swear, that game could very easily be the most infuriating game of the year when it comes to cheap-ass AI.
Anyways, I'm still doing my old-school CAW's Season Mode. Just lost the World Heavyweight Title to The Undertaker in a Cage Match. God, I wish they still had the Casket matches from SD-2. |

I was just playing Slobber Knocker, and boy it gets hard, i've only managed to beat 61 superstars (so far, I haven't gave up)... does anyone know if you get something extra once you get 100 (like in SD!SYM, it wasn't much but it was something)

also one thing I thought would be good, is if the royal rumble would be more reallistic, i'm talking about, punching them so they lean back on the ropes, then grapple, and a submission bar will appear, you have to get them to submit aka, lifting them completely over the top rope, i got tired of rico kicking me and flying over the top rope

So, does anybody enjoy the new control system? Its decent, but sometimes its annoying.
And its a love/hate for the new submission system, I think it makes it more realistic, yet all you do is button mash. And Brock Lesnar is so ****ing overrated in this damn game. Trying to get your created werstler to be a decent wrestler, and Lesnar dominates every single f'n time. I swear, if I have another match with him in this season, and he starts out with a SD!, and F-5's me 2 minutes into the match, then pins me (my endurance is 8), I will seriously change all of his moves to a woman's slap. Any likes/dislikes? |

The new engine is pretty good. It's not the best, and it's still kinda glitchy, but it's pretty good.
The new submission system's pretty good, except on higher difficulties, I can never get a hold submission to work unles I'm at like ten and they're at like 2. Then again, since you can still make people tap with non-hold submissions, I don't complain too much...I just start working the limbs. I try and make sure Lessnar can't hit me. I'm a cheap bastard when it comes to dealing with cheap AIs. If only your finishers were as effective as the computer's. I remember siilarly getting squashed by Goldberg as the Rock. It was a backstage fight, and I'd been pretty total offense. Three Rock Bottoms, and he still kicks out after the third. He counters the fourth, and hits me with one finisher...1...2...3... So I jobbed him in a handicap match. |

Ok, so I just created the Bashams, made a stable with them, started a season with Danny, and when I tried to challange for the Tag Titles, the only partner it would let me have was Brock Lesner.
Anybody know what the deal is? |

Not to say that it makes sense, but I have NEVER been able to use my stablemates as tag partners, except when the stable is formed in that one stupid stable storyline. |
