2 things
1. Jerry Lawler is the best commentator ever; consistency heel or face.
2. How do you have a match between Triple H and CM Punk without at least teasing a Pepsi Plunge? |

1) I think Gorilla Monsoon, Bobby Heenan, Gordon Solie, Jim Ross, and Joey Styles might disagree with that.
2) Because it's way too dangerous for WWE, and teasing it would do nothing because 97% of the fans wouldn't know what they were teasing. |

1. Jerry Lawler is still on the mic and has a genuine character. He can go both ways but can still be... The King! I'm never bored of him.
2. CM Punk's gimmick lately has been saying and doing whatever. Too dangerous? Just get Trips on the turnbuckle and hook his arms for a top rope Pedigree. It would work either way. If you don't know what a Pepsi Plunge is it's still CM Punk attempting his opponent's finisher from the top rope. Mark or not it would've popped. |

LOL, misread question 2 as "How do you have a match between Triple H and CM Punk without at least tasting a Pepsi Plunge?"

I still don't see why WWE didn't tease the Pepsi Plunge.... It may be true that only 3% would get the reference, but why not make that 3% happy when it costs absolutely NOTHING to do..... How hard would it have been to have Punk try the move, only for HHH to Back Bodydrop him from the top rope..... a 10-second spot with 10-seconds of prematch writing to satisfy a small fragment of their audience, seems like an easy decision to me.....

Pepsi Plunge was trending during MITB because it looked like he was going for it (instead of the hurricanrana). I think it's known just enough to get a pop, plus there's the humility in doing it to Hunter, essentially killing the Pedigree in the eyes of people. Which the biggest reason they don't do it. If it wasn't a better version of the Pedigree or someone else's finisher, I could see it happening. Sometimes they let the "too dangerous" rule slide for special moments, and this would be one.

Would've loved to see the Pepsi Plunge, or even a small tease.

I thought it'd have been better material for one of Punk's promos. Rather than tease the Plunge, he could have added it to his reasons why he hated Triple H... "I had to stop doing the Pepsi Plunge because it would have showed up your precious Pedigree" or something like that.

"They banned the Pepsi Plunge because it was "too dangerous", but that didn't stop that ex boyfriend of yours from using it."

1) Just no. Lawler has been stale for years. Heyman, Joey Styles, and even JBL for awhile showed him up as great commentators. He is better than Tazz and Booker T, I'll give you that.
2) I agree, it would've been cool to see, but it's possible they'll have another match down the line, and maybe we'll see it then. Also, if Punk can talk about Colt Cabana and reference "Super Shredder" against Nash, I don't see how the Pepsi Plunge is any more of a stretch. This is the YouTube generation - I'm willing to bet most of the WWE's fans are familiar with the fact that Punk used to use the top rope Pedigree as his finisher. |
