» Current plans call for “Stone Cold” Steve Austin to be the final Raw guest host on Mar. 15 when the show emanates from San Diego, thus ending an eight month initiative.

Honestly it would be a good way to send it to Mania.

It only took 8 months to exhaust the Rolodex of D-List celebrities on a weekly basis. Good to know.

I wouldn't be suprised if they had Austin do something like enstate Bret as fulltime guest host (just until Mania)

I say this, because it makes sense for their build, and the Guest Hosts have as much power as the writing team wants them to anyways

I could care less who has power over what. They're going to book what they're going to book. On screen authority figures are overdone. Whatever their jurisdiction is doesn't bother me, since it's coming from the booking team anyways

Who empowers these people anyway? Is it Vince? The Board of Directors?

Jeritron
02-25-2010, 01:33 AM
They're empowered for ratings. It's the same reason why guys get into arguments about who DDTed whose wife, and why nobody ever gets arrested for hitting eachother with sledgehammers.
Why would the coward heels even show up to the events?

Once you start to apply motives and offscreen logic to the product, in any era, you're going to run into problems. It's absurdity

Nope, Guest host time will be taken up with replays of the previous week's show, and WM adverts

Last years Raw before Mania was attrocious. NOTHING important happened and WM adverts were every 3 minutes.

I have mixed feelings about it ending. As a UK viewer a lot of the guest hosts have been a bit lame, but there have been some good guest hosts.

Shit, the Guest Host concept started on June 29. Just feels weird that it'd be happening that long.

Anyway, glad to see it...hope they finally put a proper GM in charge. My vote goes to Regal, who has always been brilliant in authority roles and I honestly don't see any other reason that they separated him from Zeke on another show.

But, as much as we all hated the guest host concept...hard to say it was a bad idea by WWE business-wise. They likely didn't even have to pay most of the hosts, because they wanted to promote a show or book or whatever. Free publicity both ways.

It would be a great way to head to Mania, and a even better way to start the new season with the Draft.

And a totally awesome way to kick off the summerslam angle with Mr. Dwayne Johnson being the semi permanant GM.

Mr. C
02-25-2010, 02:51 PM
Stone Cold Steve Austin will host the show on March 15, and there’s no one scheduled for March 22. They’ve been pushing the hosts more and more into the background during the build to WrestleMania.

There are still plans for The Rock to return in a role sometime this summer, and there could be a General Manager assigned to RAW after WrestleMania.

Credit to both PWTorch.com and Wrestling Observer Newsletter

Austin being the last host makes sense. He’ll piss off Vince McMahon, leading to Vince ending it. The RAW before WrestleMania needs to be the sell for the Pay-Per-View; they don’t need a host in the way.

Okay before ya'all laugh at me, I first wanna say that I think that Taker will lose to HBK at Mania because its obv they are building it up.

BUT!

I also think it would be mad cool if WWE "retired" HBK and HBK became the new permanent RAW GM. I heard he got problems, so this will give him time to heal, while at the same time remaing on TV and making WWE money.

Also he was commisioner and was great at that.

What do u think?

I agree. JBL would make an immense GM. It's also been nearly a year since we've seen him so it would have some shock to it if he just showed up.

RAW GM, King of the Ring - ok. But for some reason I don't see him as the champion.

Mr. Nerfect
03-02-2010, 09:45 AM
He was heading towards a WWE Title win, I feel. The way he was abusing his power, his finishing move was re-established, he was getting epic heat, etc. He was going over CM Punk, too, who held the MITB briefcase at the time, so he was looking pretty credible. Triple H was the WWE Champion, and I think he would have gladly dropped the title to Regal, given that he was the one who suggested moving Regal to RAW and pushing him.

I also suspect that his "unstoppable reign of tyranny" would have led to CM Punk cashing in Money in the Bank, and saving the fans from Regal's corrupt hold on the title.

There are some really ridiculous ideas in this thread... Polo? Cole? Paul Bearer? Jake Roberts? Are you fucking kidding me?

Yes JBL would be fantastic, but it's not going to happen.

I think ideally since Steve Austin is the last guest host he does a favor for one of his biggest rivals.

Austin would announce that if Bret Hart is able to beat Vince McMahon at Wrestlemania he will be the permanent General Manager of RAW.

It would make sense for Austin to do this because of his history with McMahon. Simple, and effective. Where is my check?

We got Vintage Pete Rose on March 22nd, so unfortunately Stone Cold won't end the run of Guest Hosts.

But, If I can be serious for a moment...

I'd like Lance Storm as a permanent GM. He has a lot of history with a lot of guys on the roster (Jericho, Christian, Edge, Regal, etc...) so there is background with people he can screw over or help out. And he is a heat machine. I know a lot of the PG era kids won't know him...but I think he'd get over with them.

I think JBL would be good, but I know he'd want to wrestle too. I think Storm can stay away from the ring.

Woah.. Hold the FUCK ON. Benoit was the best wrestler WCW/WWE has ever had, along side Eddie Guerrero. I'm a Criminal Justice Major, and the facts that have come out about the murder/suicide has made me believe it was a set up by her ex! They found a whine cooler next to Chris's body, yet, the toxicology reports showed that he had 0 in his body. He reportedly doesn't drink, yet his wife and ex, have a massive drinking issue. After he supposedly smothered his son and wife, he reportedly called and texted fellow wrestlers to wish them luck at the PPV and give them tips on their matches. Who does this after committing murder and supposedly being drunk and on Roid Rage? The garbage cans in the kitchen and bathroom were FULL of beer cans, yet again, nothing consumed by Chris Benoit.

Set up anyone?

Or after WrestleMania on RAW the following night, Hart announces the board of directors ruled a decision and says that he’s now the General Manager of RAW. Hart announces that Batista will have a rematch with John Cena at Extreme Rules and says that it will be a Last Man Standing Match. Jerry Lawler and Jim Ross hype the match.

WWE announced today that Saturday Night Live cast members Will Forte and Kristen Wiig will bring their MacGruber co-star Ryan Phillippe to guest host Monday Night RAW when it emanates from East Rutherford, New Jersey on Apr. 19. MacGruber opens on Apr. 23 and also features a number of WWE Superstars such as Mark Henry and Montel Vontavious Porter. Someone like Regal, but book him to have no respect for Vince since he can't be fired. The guest hosts thing was great at the begining but when they kept stretching it on that's when it started to becoming stale. Especially with people who couldn't pull it off.

They should get Andy Dick to have a shoot fight with Jon Lovitz on Raw. I think both of them would do it, and it would get WWE the type of attention they want from this kind of thing.
It would also be amazing.

Report: WWE Wants Tiger Woods To Host RAW
By Ryan Clark on Friday, April 16th, 2010 at 2:53 PM EST

WWE officials are reportedly looking to book golfer Tiger Woods to host the Jun. 7 Monday Night RAW taking place in Miami, Florida. However, few believe he will accept the offer.

The reports of WWE attempting to book Tiger Woods as guest host of RAW has garnered press amongst the golfing community as Golf Online published a story today concerning the reports.

Why wouldn't you reach for The Rock for this? Seeing as how it's in his hometown, he'd seriously fill that bitch. Plus he'd be way more entertaining than Tiger Woods. Besides, if Tiger hosts we'll simply get a ton of shitty skits with Tiger/Santino/Hornswoggle trying to bang all the divas. :shifty:

May 10, 2010: Flava Flav

And if you’re not down with that, we’ve got two words for you: “Yeeaahh boooyeee!” There’s no telling what will happen when rapper and reality star Flava Flav takes the reigns of cable TV’s No. 1 show only two weeks before WWE Over the Limit.

May 24, 2010: Jon Lovitz
Only 24 hours after WWE Over the Limit, comedy legend Jon Lovitz brings the party to Monday Night Raw live from Toledo, Ohio. Lovitz, a former Saturday Night Live cast member in the 1990s, has appeared in numerous films and popular television shows throughout his career. Currently, he runs The Jon Lovitz Comedy Club located on the Universal Citywalk in Hollywood.

So, I get to see John Lovitz. Cool? I guess it's better than Tila Tequila.

I'd GLADLY trade you guest hosts.

Or tickets.

"GET TO KNOW ME!"

"Yeah, that's it, that's the ticket!"

"I just wanna be loved, is that so WRONG?!"
