Because of yet another ridiculous ban ;) iv been reading all the threads recently and so many people seem to like kane, some even want him to win MITB(!!!), but i have a theory.

Now i know everyone says he's a loyal guy and a good worker, he's also pretty decent on the mic but that's it! Apart from that i just don't get it.

IMO Kane only gets pops (and fairly small pops at that) beacuse he is kayfabe Underaker's brother. Like he's been around so long that people pop a little for him due to nostalgia (and cos his pyro is cool). He switches between face and heel so much that his character doesn't matter anymore, this is backed up by the fact that nearly every crowd gives him a nice reaction no matter what he's been doing in the storyline. Since he lost his mask people stopped caring, check out the Raw in MSG when he removed his mask and the quiet reaction it got as if the fans in attendance collectively sighed. Anyone agree?

Also if he won money in the bank i think 90% of fans would be furious, imagine the anticlimax! Kane going over Christian would be shocking

Cause he is a decent work horse and put on consistant matches. I don't think anyone thinks he is a star, but he is a good person to keep on a roster because everything you just said.

Ya he's just solid really. He's like HBK in that he doesn't need the title to look credible but he's been outta the title hunt for so long though that he can't be looked at as a real threat either. So him winning MITB would be a bad, bad idea

Kane's popular because he's been in the WWE for so long. It has two effects people like him because he's been around consistently for so long. Plus he's managed to find a nice comfortable slot where he fits perfectly

Well he puts over everyone which is fantastic cos Kane knows he's a big enough name to help the younger guys. In doing so he cant really be a candidate to win MITB. If the glorified jobber won MITB can you see him cash in and win? It wouldn't make sense because if he became champ id half expect him to drop the belt to R-Truth on superstars

I don't really understand how Kane has remained so popular either, but I will say that I'm enjoying his current ring work more than I ever have.

I think its because hes associated with the hugely popular Undertaker (hated taker since the beginning, initially cos of his slow walk but then i saw his matches :n:)

Possibly. I'd say they're so far removed that it wouldn't matter, but Matt Hardy still gets Hardy Boyz pops to this day, so you may be right.

Ya, hearing girls scream for Fatt Hardy is like the male crowd members whistling and jacking it over Vickie Guerrero

I love Kane. I want him to hold every belt at the same time.

Then after dominating for a while, lose them to Christian, who will also have a period of dominance over the roster.

Anyway, I think Kane should go back to being a heel monster. He is just beyond dull like sour cream as a face, but he was awesome as a heel.

Kane's talented enough, charismatic enough and consistent enough to get a following. It makes sense. Especially since he's a nostalgia figure for a lot of people.

The guy can flat out work for a big man, especially at his relatively advanced age. In the current WWE roster, I can't think of one big man sans UT that I'd rather watch wrestle.

Add the fact h

Plus, he's been around for awhile with a fairly successful gimmick. Pretty simple as to why he's appreciated.

I cant stand watching taker or kane in the ring. the hbk/taker match was so good at mania last year cos taker finally wrestled a match that didnt bore the shite out of the fans. even his cell match with lesnar sucked. his best match before mania25 was mania17 vs triple h. why? cos trips and hbk are awesome

I'd imagine that you just don't like big men in the ring then? Not that thats a horrible sin or anything, I just can't see you hating Taker and Kane, but having wet dreams over Show.

Not a fan of show either, the big man thing was fine in the 80's when wrestling sucked a dick. Show is ok tho cos hes tagging now so i dont mind him. plus hes a funny and cool guy

Kane is one of the very few wrestlers who can go from being nothing in terms of direction to a monster character every time the WWE needs a monster heel. Its similar to the Big Show where the Big Show can play goofy characters but also be believable when its time for him to be a heel due to his size and past work.

Somewhat surprised he never got a real title reign as a champion even when at a point the WWE had 3 heavyweight title belts during the Brand Split.

Two shit guys in the ring in now equals a good to great match. You're spewing ignorance. If Taker is such a shit worker, go ahead and tell me his shittiest matches.

And I'm not talking about mid 90s Taker either. He got booked against shit workers he could do very little with. I'm talking Taker from 2002 and on. His HITC match with Lesnar is what virtually put Lesnar over as a monster champion at the time. It was a great match.

Not to mention his worst Mania match post Attitude era was probably against Mark Henry. And it wasn't bad. It just lacked the feeling that Taker may actually lose. The match itself is more than passable.

Anyone remeber the SmackDown! title match Taker had with Angle where Brock interfered right after Taker hits the Last Ride? I remember that being a damn fine match at the time.

I THINK hes slow as fuck, boring and the crowd ALWAYS go quiet during his matches. He has SO MANY shit matches it would be quicker to list his good matches, so here goes, AHEM. . . .

1. Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels (WrestleMania XXV)
. . . . well thats it

Well, Kane did get an ECW Title reign. If you're going to count the ECW Title as a Heavyweight Title, you might as well count Kane's reign. There have been times when he should have won a World Title but didn't, however. I still think the reign The Great Khali got should have been subbed for a Kane reign. He was being built up at the time, if I remember. Khali literally came out of nowhere to win it.

As for Kane -- I'm sure nostalgia has something to do with the pops, but in wrestling, consistency works. Just look at Hardcore Holly. Now, I did not mind the guy in the ring or anything, but the guy never really had a point where he did anything particularly awesome, yet he was still mad over.

William Regal and Chavo Guerrero, no matter how much they are made to look like jokes, will always get great heat, just because they have been around so long. It's almost getting to the point where it is the same with a guy like Shelton Benjamin.

I'd just like to point out that Kane is doing the best work of his life from an in-ring standpoint on SmackDown!, at the moment, and his pops actually seem to be getting bigger as a result. Call them "respect pops." And, to add to that -- Taker offered to drop his streak to Kane, but Kane refused because he thought it would benefit a younger guy more. Considering how big that is, Kane is a fucking classy man.

Since about 2006, The Undertaker has changed his style to be one that more closely resembles an MMA-inspired approach. It has worked for him, and he's produced several great matches. I hate the character, I find it hard to get excited about his matches before they are happening unless they are a dream scenario; but you have to give the devil his due.

From an all-round perspective, you'd have to consider The Undertaker one of the greatest of all-time. In the big man category, he's probably only second to Andre the Giant.

Oh crap forgot all about him winning the ECW title since he had it before Mark Henry's reign.

I tend to forget a lot about the middle years of the ECW brand since I rarely watched most of the episodes post-Big Show/Bobby Lashley reign due to never setting a tv timer for the show until last year.

Haha, it happens. I think the WWE have forgotten that Chavo Guerrero was an ECW Champion, too.
