View Full Version : Wrestlemania Main Eventers Card

The Show Off

I was bored at work the other day so I decided to make a wrestling card consisting only of wrestlers who main evented Wrestlemania (ie those that went on last). The rules I went but is each wrestler could only wrestle once and all 30 men that main evented Wrestlemania had to be on the card. So if you'd like to play along that's how it's done. Here's the card I cam up with...

Attitude Era Triple Threat Elimination Match
The Rock v. Steve Austin v. Triple H

Hell in a Cell II
Mick Foley v. The Undertaker

Bret Hart v. Kurt Angle

Chris Jericho v. Randy Savage

Giants v. Heroes 8 Man Elimination Tag Match
Giants (Andre the Giant, The Big Show, King Kong Bundy, & Yokozuna) v. Heroes (Hulk Hogan, John Cena, Sgt. Slaughter, & The Ultimate Warrior)

Batista & Randy Orton v. Paul Orndorff & Roddy Piper

Chris Benoit & Edge v. Psycho Sid & Ted DiBiase

Bam Bam's Redemption 1 on 2 Handicap Match
Bam Bam Bigelow v. Lawrence Taylor & Mr. T

Brock Lesnar v. Shawn Michaels

Totally digging the triple threat match and the HBK-Brock bout.

Totally digging the triple threat match and the HBK-Brock bout.

I think of Rock/Austin/HHH as the no brainer of the card. They were the big three during the WWF's most viable period in it's history yet they never faced off all three and only all three. But any singles match combination of the three were always great matches.

I was tempted to put Jericho against Steve Austin or Mick Foley in a proper match. He's faced both of them in some form, but never in a big properly built match.

Jericho vs Savage was just too perfect though

HBK vs Undertaker (only match that to my knowledge has actually happened)

Chris Jericho vs Bret Hart

Andre the Giant vs The Big Show

Big Man 4 Way
Yokozuna vs Bam Bam Bigelow vs King Kong Bundy vs Sid

I also toyed with the Idea of Undertakers Victims Revenge Gauntlet Match -
Undertaker vs Bundy/Sid/HHH/Big Show/Orton/Batista/Edge/HBK but that was a bit too much

I wrote out a long post praising The Show Off for expertly managing to leave John Cena out of a group of wrestlers that he doesn't belong with, and then I gave him positive rep for making a great card.

Then I read the fine print of that Heroes vs. Giants match and facepalmed. Lo and behold, John Cena. At first I thought this was some sort of travesty, but upon reviewing it again, i discovered that this was incredible booking. The Show Off managed to not only keep John Cena away from the Main Event of the Super Card, but he did the same with Hogan as well. And on top of that, he shoved them both into an eight man war where there would be minimal focus on either.

In conclusion, double positive rep for The Show Off.

The Rock/Austin/Triple H match is something I've mentioned a number of times over the years of how I'd love to have seen this.

Cena doesn't even belong on this list. He hasn't been put over as a top heel so he's just a face wrestler.

John Cena is over as hell, and has been the face of the WWE for several years now. Get over it. He clearly deserves to be on this card, even though it's all hypothetical.

Austin vs. Hogan - Pure Spectacle

Michaels vs The Rock - A dream match which should have happened, could have happened and hopefully will happen.

Cena Vs The Undertaker - Pretty interested in this match. Think they would mesh well.

Hart vs. Jericho vs. Angle - I couldn't decide between Hart vs. Jericho and Hart vs. Angle.

HHH vs. Savage - Aside from the obvious "you fucked my wife" angle, I'd actually like to see these two in the ring.

Big Show and Lesnar vs. Batista and Warrior - Yes.

Orton vs. Edge vs. Foley - Hardcore rules. Foley has had two good hardcore matches with these two and I didn't want to leave them off the card/throw them in the battle royal clusterfuck.

The Million Dollar Man in some sort of vignette.

Some sort of giant clusterfuck for everyone else.

If we are only looking at the last match on the card, then you are right, however, Wrestlemania 8 was billed as a double main-event with Hulk vs. Sid, and Savage vs. Flair. Matter of fact, Wrestlemania 8's intro was narrated by Vince McMahon and I do remember him saying......

"The WWF Champion, Ric Flair, defends the title against the #1 contender, The Macho Man Randy Savage..... The Meniacle, Sid Justice, goes 1 on 1 with the immortal Hulk Hogan, in what could prove to be Hulk Hogan's farewell match, it's a double main event, IT'S WRESTLEMANIAAAAAAAAA!!!"

Just making a point.

Would that also mean you can use wrestler such as Kevin Nash (wrestlmania 11 vs HBK wwe championship match)Eddie Guerrero (wrestlmania 20 vs Angle wwe championship match)JBL(wrestlmania 21 vs Cena wwe championship match and Rey Mysterio(wrestlmania 22 vs orton and Angle world Heavyweight championship match)

The gauntlet match almost reminds me of the match with yokozuna at the royal rumble i dont remember the year but like half the roster came in and beat him down and put him in a casket

Nah I understand that's why I mentioned "went on last."

It was just my way of limiting the amount of people that can/have to be used.
