I'm watching an episode of Nitro from March 30, 1998 to be exact and one match was Buff Bagwell vs Raven. And the crowd was hot for this match. They were going nuts every time Buff did his "stuff" And they were all over Raven. Every time Buff got any sort of offesne in, the crowd went insane. You think you were watching Rock/Hogan WM 18 for a second.
And then Goldberg vs Big Boss man was also a hot one. Goldberg could just wink and the crowd would go ape shit.
So where are these people and how do I find them?

So where are these people and how do I find them?
Probably some backwater hick town that has a population of 30.000 and only 3 surnames.

Have you tried looking in one of the arenas that has "UFC" on the marquee?
TOVO Fact: Tovo likes PB&J.
Probably some backwater hick town that has a population of 30.000 and only 3 surnames.
Just outside Atlanta.

The great thing about those crowds is they were always focused on what was happening in the ring. And they weren't anywhere near as cynical as the crowds of today

Lots of people in Looney Toons shirts, or other assorted cartoon character tees.
Pretty sure there's a whole family sporting matching Whinnie The Pooh oversized tees during Hogan's heel turn

What happened to the crowds that threw things in the ring after a shitty finish?
I feel like people nowadays are too afraid to look like marks to react to anything. 9 times out of 10, the people in the front row are sitting down the whole time.

WWF crowds back then were hot for the main event and the upper mid card, but WCW crowds popped for everything.
Jeritron
03-07-2010, 09:08 PM
Pretty sure the WWF crowds were popping huge for Al Snow, Val Venis, D'Lo, The Godfather, and even Kaientai
Not to mention the tag teams, and the women like Sable and Debra.
The whole card was over and popped start to finish

I was at a Nitro and the nWo was cutting a promo and someone threw a soda at Nash and he caught it and drank it.
That crowd in that above clip reminds me of crappy video games!

Raven was one of their crowd favorites. He was also one of the guys everyone seem to like. Even people who didn't like WCW.
Of course he never got the push

I hated the goldberg character, but the pops were ridiculous... And the Fans throwing Raven back in gimmick was pretty genius...

Damn, those clips are pretty crazy. Def a ton of hicks though during the closeups so I dunno.
Even to this day there are still heated discussions wondering if Diamond Dallas Page prevented Goldberg from getting his first defeat.

Shit. They wouldn't even try stuff with plants like that these days. The most we get are the CM Punk saviour segments that are sooooo obvious.

First thing that came to my mind.
Is it just me, or did the titles used to change way more often on TV?
#BROKEN Hasney

WCW were so into the ratings war that they changed belts on free-TV quite often.
WWE did it a few times in that period, but they did build to the PPVs a lot harder.
Raven was one of their crowd favorites. He was also one of the guys everyone seem to like. Even people who didn't like WCW.
Of course he never got the push
If by never got a push you mean won the US title, had one of the hottest feuds in the company with DDP, and was the leader of a popular stable...then yes, he never got a push.
