so one of the girls in my office today reads online (I believe charlotte observer.com) that Hogan and Flair are having a match tonight. She never watches wrestling. She probably only knows like 10 guys ever. She knew I like wrestling, so she asked me about it. She said she definately has to tune into the match tonight.
say what you will, but there's probably thousands more of her out there. I just found that funny.

It's true, the IWC isn't the standard, fans who idolize Hulk Hogan are. Just the reality that IWC fans have to face.

I saw Hogan and Flair 15 years ago. Dont need to see it now.

I hate seeing Flair wrestle. Completely kills Mania 24 and the night after for me. :n:

And the fact that, in all fairness, his better days are far gone.
And Hogan isn't exactly the best person to 'bring out one more classic'.

People can't seem stop to thinking of the the IWC's opinions as the standard, when in reality it's pretty much a really small minority. A crap match to the IWC is sometimes viewed as a good one by the casuals. Hogan and Flair don't need to have a 5* match, as most people who tune in for them are doing so just to see them and couldn't care less how well they wrestle now. IWC prefer quality while the casuals prefer stuff likes names and cheap entertainment.
Honestly, what TNA is doing with the likes of Flair and Hogan is right on the money.
Some of the other guys, like Venis and the Nasties, not so much.
The thing is that when wrestling is REALLY GOOD, both the IWC and Casuals tend to agree, if on different aspects. Of course there's going to be some bitching from the IWC regardless, but taking the Attitude Era into account, it can happen.

It should for me too but it doesn't. On Flair's end maybe but that doesn't bother me. Whenever I see the end of that match now I view it as HBK's moment. Not Flair's. I guess I'm just one for loving the moment itself and the drama they created more than the aftermath or anything.

Those fans are for a nice number tomorrow morning, but they wouldnt continue to tune in if the product they serve is the same as what they have been since Jan. 4th. A good show and good wrestling are just that whether five hundred people or one million people watch.

Two guys who I thought were old back in '97 when I was 10, maybe she's just tuning in to see if they break a hip (or if hogan has to pop it back into the socket mid-match again)
I remember a few years ago when they brought back Saterday Nights Main event(first one) and Hogan was on it... friends of mine as well friends of my brother and sister who hadn't watch wretling since 91 where watching NBC that night and having friend over and ordering pizza's and having BBQ's.

That's kinda like what I was saying about the "Guest Host" on RAW thing too. I have a bud at work who heard Shaq was gonna be on RAW, and he use to semi watch wrestling years ago so he asked me about it. He watched that night and kinda watches off and on now. I think Hogan and Flair can attract previous fans for name sake, but the match between Flair and Hogan at WCW Uncensored 1999 will always be the match between them for me

I was there for Uncensored 1999; front row, right next to the announce table. LOVED that match.
Hogan and Flair have definitely tuned some people into TNA - and that is what it's all about. Tune them in, promote yourselves, the young guys, and the other established guys who can still work a bit (Angle, X-Pac, Nash, Hardy, Anderson, etc.) WITH A MIX so people will remember it. WWE should have been doing this YEARS AGO and they would not be in the boat they are in today. They just built their glass ceiling, left it in place and walked away. Now look where they are.
