View Full Version : RAW doesn't have a major title...

I never thought of this until now, but RAW has neither the WWE Championship, or the World Championship. Technically they are both on Smackdown. Batista's just been coming over to RAW to have his feud with Cena. Not once has the John Cena/Batista feud been on Smackdown this go-around. Which leads you to believe it's highly unlikely that they would they would continue to run Raw without a major title. Unfortunately I think John Cena is going to walk away with the title at Wrestlemania.

This is actually a good post from you Ass Hat, and I tend to agree, as odd as that sounds. Both men feuding for the WHC are on Smackdown, so either one of the champions are coming to Raw in the draft, or once again, Cena wins.

I agree either Cena will win or Batista will retain and be drafted to Raw. Raw still has the WWE championship, it just so happens a member of the Smackdown brand is holding it.

But wasn't it announced that Vince let Batista be on Raw because he helped him with Bret Hart?

This has been happening a lot around Mania time lately.

I think so now that I think about it... I'm actually kinda interested to see where this is going...

I don't think it's the case that both belts are on technically on Smackdown, I just think that around Wrestlemania time the rosters often get a bit convoluted.

It's been said that the roster split will more or less be ignored until Extreme Rules. Then they'll do the next draft and keep them separated again.

As Xero said, last few years that's how they've been doing it around Mania time, so no real shock... I always thought the draft was closer to Mania in the past... wasn't it the night after Mania at one point?

True, but after Wrestlemania things will have to go back to normal. Meaning Cena wins, or as somebody earlier stated, Batista will be drafted. I think most everybody agrees he works best on the smackdown roster though.

This is why Cena will win. Normal=One Major Title per Brand... Besides one of the Good Guy's has to win. It would be too much of an upset if one of the good guys didn't win one of the title matches.

I'm just popping in to say that would be good for Christian, but it would suck for the Heel power of Batista.

If Christian is going to win MITB, and cash in at Mania, it would be against the winner of Edge and Jericho. This is the only option that makes some sense, or even has a snowballs chance in hell of happening.

Well, to be fair, Christian cashing in anywhere would make sense if it benefitted him. Especially if we got a moment where Edge & Christian were WWE Champion and World Heavyweight Champion, respectively.

But Christian cashing in and overshadowing Cena and Batista to close the biggest show of the year just isn't going to happen. It also has no history, and since he hasn't been elevated to their level it would be completely out of nowhere. That's not the WWE's style at all.

From a kayfabe standpoint, yes it would make sense but on the whole it makes infinitely more sense to have him cash in after Edge/Jericho earlier in the show

I'm watching the Christian/Jericho match on Wrestlemania XX right now. The build up package is making me laugh harder than ever. The She's All That storyline is brilliant.

Unless they closed with Edge beating Jericho, and then Edge & Christian could close the show together. Why they would do that I have no idea, but it'd make Christian look like a star, at least. That's sort of what Money in the Bank is meant to do. It just depends what their long term plans are, I guess.

I never actually got too into that storyline, despite loving the hell out of both Jericho and Christian. I did mark for the Trish Stratus heel turn, however. This was probably when Christian looked best-primed for a push. I mean, he got to go over a face Chris Jericho at WrestleMania XX.

One can hope and while the likely odds on fan favorite to win MITB via the sympathy vote is Christian in all likeliness will not happen. They have had 3 faces in a row win the Money in the Bank Contract between Kennedy, RVD and Punk 2 timing it. I count Kennedy as face cause he was more over even as a heel with the crowd than he was as a face i think.

I would look for the heel angle to take a part in this as the case being that Drew McIntyre is still not completely over as heel. Being how high the company obviously is on him, I would peg my money on Drew Mac to walk out of mania as Mr. Money in the Bank.

If he doesn't walk away with it the only others i can see walking away with it is Jack Swagger or Kofi Kingston. Although I think Kofi is back in the midcard role and I just don't know if I see Swagger being given another run past the mid card at this time with no prior build up really.

Mr. Nerfect

Drew McIntyre is my bet to win it. It's harder to call this year than it has the past two (I can proudly say I narrowed the winner down to CM Punk the past two years), as there are a number of guys who could be elevated with this win. The only guys I don't think have a shot of winning are Dolph Ziggler, Jack Swagger and Evan Bourne. This is there "establishing year." They're in the same spot as Kofi Kingston was last year. They will do cool shit and get people talking about them in time for next year, if all goes as planned for them.

Kane and Shelton Benjamin are on the next tier of likeliness, in that they could win, but it's way overdue for both of them. Kane winning could be cool, but it misses the opportunity to create a younger star. The same goes for Benjamin finally getting his duke.

MVP and Kofi Kingston could both win as mid-carders the WWE has teased pushing in the past. MVP could even win and turn heel, ala CM Punk last year. The WWE has been periodically high on both men in the past. MVP seems to have dropped off the radar a little, but he's been featured on every PPV this year, and a win here would give him instant credibility.

Christian and Drew McIntyre are the two most likely. I think Christian is a bit of a fan pick, though. Do people really see him with the Money in the Bank briefcase? I could see Christian having the match won, before some heel shenanigans go down, and the briefcase is pulled out of reach, or some heel lackey for Vince McMahon comes and shoves Christian off the ladder.

Jeritron

I agree with most of what you said. They tend not to go with the obvious pick.

The only reason I have a hard time picking McIntyre is that the case will most likely be cashed in quickly this year. With the MITB ppv coming up, the chances are that the winner will be cashing in before July. Win or lose, I don't really see McIntyre having a world title match of any real interest or importance.
He's been booked well as an IC champion, but he's not over on that level yet, and last time he stepped in the ring with a main eventer he lasted all of 3 minutes.

I think he has a bright future in the WWE, but I don't see how him getting a title shot before July would keep people on the edge of their seats, or work them for a second.
Christian, on the other hand, could easily use the case to jump brands or have a match with Edge or Jericho that would be of great interest. It wouldn't be a Cena/Batista draw, but it would be big for a certain demographic and WWE knows this.
Plus I think win or lose, most fans will at least entertain the idea of him possibly winning and that's all that matters.

Mr. Nerfect
03-25-2010, 03:19 AM
I agree with your concerns about McIntyre, but I truthfully feels that applies to EVERYONE in MITB in this year. Christian does look good in there with main event guys some days, but the last time we saw him perform on that level, he put over Sheamus. Yes, his ring work is good, but I don't think he is too much ahead of Drew Muck at this point.

Jeritron
03-25-2010, 03:22 AM
I think Kofi could be a sleeper pick, as he's a fan favorite and a win by him could easily lead to a title match that the fans would get behind.
I think if he did win, he'd be the first to lose his cash in match. Still, I think it could be a good rub for him and the fans would probably get behind it.
It would be a safe route to go if they're looking to have the winner cash in quickly, and not win the title.

I hate Kofi. I don't see why he even got the IC strap. I hate his song, his gimmick, he is half-way decent in the ring I will admit, but he doesn't have the charisma, or the gimmick to be a World Champ

I know this is going to be unpopular, but that would be so much cooler than Benoit/Gurrerro closing the show together.

Word. Kofi has potential, but all the shucking, jiving and general coonery is fucking embarrassing.

If he's ever going to be taken seriously, he's going to need a complete repackaging. I was hoping this is why they were keeping him out of MITB.

If you read closely, you will see I suggested he lose the match. If that were to happen, he wouldn't be world champ.
