View Full Version : Christopher Daniels *SPOILERS*

Moments ago at the ROH PPV in Charlotte, North Carolina, Kenny King was in a match with Davey Richards. After the match, Kenny King refused to shake hands despite cheers from the crowd. Richards was interviewed after the match and put over ROH before saying how awesome he is and how he’s going to beat Austin Aries or whoever he has to.

With that being said TNA’s Christopher Daniels appeared complete with a Marilyn Manson entrance theme. Daniels then cut a promo and said he had a problem with what Davey just said. He told the people he wants to be the best in the world, but for 7 years he fought to keep the name Fallen Angel synonymous with Best in the World. He said after being held back he has returned to ROH to prove he is exactly that. He then challenged Davey Richards to a fight, and he doesn’t care where or when. The crowd wants the match now. Daniels leaves.

This would seem to indicate that he’s gone from TNA Wrestling. We hope to have more shortly.

Dunno, maybe they have a deal of some sort. Still, surprising. Also sorry if this has already been posted, but I failed to see it anywhere.

I would not blame Daniels from leaving TNA. He went from main eventing a TNA's last Pay Per View in 2009 against AJ Styles to jobbing every single night afterwards for two months.

I just don't see the upward growth. They do have future stars, and they push them far more than WCW ever did. I don't even think they mean to "hold them down" either. They're just so dialed into the established stars it seems their own creations only go so far.

Basically the peak of your TNA career is getting a PPV match against Angle, but everyone gets it and goes back to treading water.

I feel like there's been no progression for AJ Styles, or Samoa Joe or any of their "homegrown stars" in the past few years.
You see the week to week progression of characters like CM Punk, Randy Orton, The Miz and John Morrison on WWE TV.
Even if some are pushed more slowly than others, it seems like everything can and eventually does go somewhere.

Desmond Wolfe is probably my favorite talent in TNA, but he debuts and goes right after Angle. That's probably the biggest match they could build, and they hotshot it to pander to IWC fans.
There's just no sense in having a guy who the national audience has no connection with come in and peak right away unless the goal is to keep him there (ie Lesnar). Now he's back in the midcard and his growth probably has limits.

I'm not a big Ken Anderson fan, but they're high on him and he comes right in and enters into a huge fued with Angle. Fair enough. But now they've had a handful of matches, and nearly every gimmick match. The fued is dead in the water and it's not even a few months old.

It seems like Angle matches/fueds are their bread and butter and they know it. I think Angle is the most deserving veteran of his spot in TNA, and it's great that he works with a younger crop of stars, but it's hard to tell what month it is on their show because of this.

Jeritron

You can't really expect fans to buy anyone as your top guy when you don't do so yourself. It's like AJ Styles and Abyss fueding over the TNA World Title.
That's what it should be all about, if they were serious about it, but it's about Hogan and Flair. They're both sidekicks to the veterans, when it should be the other way around.

The way they're handling Pope is far better, but that match probably won't amount to a sustained push or him. It probably won't even main event the show.
Also, it will more than likely start to shift focus to Ric Flair and not AJ Styles.

According to ProWrestling.net, Christopher Daniels is not finished with TNA. Daniels did return to Ring Of Honor this past Saturday night and will be working some upcoming shows for the promotion, but he is still an active TNA performer. Daniels is scheduled to work a match for ROH on May 7th and May 8th.

In addition to Daniels, TNA stars The Motor City Machine Guns have signed to work on an upcoming ROH card.

Jeritron has said everything I wanted to say, except that...not that this is a TNA bashing thread, but I feel like it fits in...

TNA says this is the "new TNA" and a "new beginning" when it all just feels like Nitro to me...but with a better division of wrestling. They have too many ideas and too many people to do anything well. Maybe it's just the round table of booking?

Mr. Nerfect

I'd like to see Christopher Daniels join up with AJ Styles, actually. They've had their problems recently, but Daniels joining Ric Flair because Flair hates Hogan would make some sense. If they do go with some sort of "Four Horsemen" stable, then AJ Styles and Daniels would make a great base for it. Desmond Wolfe would also be involved, and a fourth spot could either go to Matt Morgan or Mr. Anderson.

Daniels is a smaller guy that I think would do quite well in the WWE, actually. He can work a tremendous match, he's got a good look for a smaller guy (there's something charismatic about him), and he's a capable talker. I'd love to see Daniels come in as "The Fallen Angel" and embody vice in a feud against CM Punk, representing freedom of choice and all that sort of stuff. That could be a feud of the year.

Shouldn't surprise anyone that he was there really. At least a month ago TNA started talks with ROH about exchanging again.

this bit interested me the most, now tna gladly lend their talent out as long as they dont appear on t.v or ppv and is reported the daniels is still with tna, so maybe this could be the start of an roh/tna feud/angle/talent exchange/alliance

I was thinking about this, actually. I've thought about this a bit since Hogan joined TNA, and I realised how little I now care about ROH. I mean, I have goodwill in my heart for them, but they just don't have my attention. Getting involved with TNA would give them a lot more exposure.

There are benefits for TNA, too. They get access to a larger pool of talent. The Briscoes appearing in TNA is money. They also get to look like "nice guys" to the IWC, who will probably tune in to see how this TNA/ROH stuff goes. Some of their guys will also get to work some classic matches in ROH, and they may even be able to borrow some of the ROH video library to promote TNA.

ROH may not have the largest fanbase in the world -- but this could sort of "unify" the TNA and ROH audiences a bit, and ROH fans are a loyal bunch. I think it would strengthen TNA more than hurt it.

Earlier I was imagining how much I would mark out if this Samoa Joe kidnapping angle was revealed to be a bunch of ROH guys taking Joe hostage.

Frightened to use the word "invasion", but they do have two of the biggest roh stars ever in Joe and Wolfe, so they've already got that over the wcw invasion.

Mr. Nerfect
04-04-2010, 01:30 PM
I wouldn't go invasion, either. It wouldn't really make sense. Maybe some more aggressive towards what the other company represents than others, but the whole thing shouldn't be TNA versus ROH, if they did it. And TNA is actually good like that. Each performer has their own sort of personality. Kurt Angle may welcome it, because he loves wrestling. Ric Flair may hate it, because he owes ROH money.

Fignuts

I think the best way to do it, would be to just have the ROH champ, whoever it is at the time, come in to TNA and defend his title there.

Yea, they should just do a one-off PPV. It could feature a card of interpromotional matches, and have a month of build.

If it went well, they could do it on other occassions but sometimes I think something simple like this is the way to go

Mr. Nerfect
04-04-2010, 01:39 PM

Maybe. I would consider going a little further. Kevin Steen wrestling a match or two, El Generico is the X-Division, etc. Sort of like a "World X Cup," but instead of guys representing other countries, you'd have the occasional guy representing ROH. Hell, some guys you don't even need to really put over as ROH guys, even. Some of the bigger guys maybe, but if you slipped Kenny King into the X-Division for a bit, it wouldn't even need to come up that he was with ROH.

Christopher Daniels was officially released from his TNA contract on Wednesday. He immediately contacted Ring of Honor to set up his surprise return last night.

The TNA roster is already too full with tons of talent not getting enough exposure. Letting another promotion come in and take more time away is an awful idea IMO. Plus we all know TNA is trying to compete with WWE. Is it really wise for them to have a major angle where they are struggling to fight off an indy fed?

I don't think you'd really called ROH an "indy fed" (unless Ric Flair was taking shots at them, or something). Hell, I could see ROH being considered almost a "farm league" for TNA. On one hand, I can see ROH being pissed off about that, but on the other, ROH could get a "rub" as being presented as the place where guys like Samoa Joe, Desmond Wolfe and AJ Styles really achieved before signing with TNA.

It could also work both ways. Some TNA guys that aren't really doing anything could get exposure on TNA, and be presented as great workers. The Motor City Machine Guns, for example. ROH would also be laughing if they got Rob Van Dam for a match or two against Jerry Lynn, or Kurt Angle for a few matches.

FearedSanctity

While that would be a great idea for both companies, no way Hogan and Bischoff consider putting over another company

Jeritron
04-04-2010, 01:51 PM
Well WWF was doing cross-promotion with ECW in 1997, and their primary focus was obviously to get their ratings back on par with Nitro.

Still very different, since WWE is not WCW, TNA is not WWF, and ROH is not ECW. Just a similar situation with far different circumstances.

Mr. Nerfect

If they're not going to push Desmond Wolfe to the top, I'd really like to see him jump ship

I think Wolfe is fine. I have no doubt that he'll end up on Team Flair at Lockdown, in a match where he is trying to piss on Hulkamania, which is a pretty big spot for a heel to be in. He'll be wrestling against Abyss and Jarrett while teaming with Sting, which is nothing to sneeze at, either.

Maybe I am alone in this, but I also feel that D'Angelo Dinero actually has a fairly good shot at winning the TNA World Heavyweight Championship come Lockdown, too. With Wolfe holding a recent pin over him, and having his rivalry with Dinero going, I could see him feud with Dinero for the World Title post-Lockdown.

I was thinking the other day -- if they brought in Christopher Daniels as "The Fallen Angel" with vignettes not unlike Sean O'Haire's "Devil's Advocate" gimmick -- I think I would love it. I know people don't like ripping off gimmicks and such, but that is one that I think could be lifted and given to Daniels with relative ease.

Daniels was treated like shit in TNA last few months especially.

Heavyweight title contender one month to jobbing to Sean Morley and every other cunt the next, so ridiculous.

I like Daniels but I'm glad he's left, it'll be interesting to see what he does. I think he'll just be a loyal ROH guy for a few years and maybe re-sign with TNA again. I doubt WWE would be interested, talented as he is, he has a horrible look, and isn't exactly a spring chicken.
