Who are some wrestling stars you could see competing in MMA? I will list a few of mine
-Vladimir Kozlov
-Tajuri
-Yoshi Tatsu
-Jack Swagger
-Consequences Creed (or maybe just the guy in the Rocky movies)
-Big Show (Big Show vs Bob Sapp for teh LOLz)
-Shelton Benjiman
-CM Punk
-Desmond Wolfe
-Brutus Magnus
-If MMA was a better option financially for Kurt Angle when he decided to become a pro-wrestler, I think he could've succeeded in MMA.

actually I think CM Punk might be able to do something in MMA he does know some form of martial art and seems to be legitamatly tough also Kozlov seems to know his Sambo very well so he might be able to make it althow I couldn't see him actually becoming champ he might win a few fights another guy I think would have a chance is Kurt Angle as his wrestling background is not just professional I mean hell the guy is an Olympic Gold Medalist after all
Every guy mentioned in this thread would have their head torn off in MMA
Correcting spelling mistakes sucks
the word 'mentioned' looking very strange to me atm

From that list, Vladimir Kozlov, Jack Swagger, Yoshi Tatsu and Shelton Benjamin all could have been good fighters if they had chosen to be MMA fighters. Kozlov has some MMA training and has won martial arts competitions before. Tatsu is also a former boxer, I believe, and has a legit reputation as someone who can kick ass.
Santino Marella used to be an MMA fighter in Japan. I believe he was something like 6-1 there, but had to leave because he overstayed with his visa, and then he started in OVW, got slapped by Jim Cornette, and the rest is history.

brock could of made it i think.
What makes MMA so hard to compete in? I always hear everyone say things like "that guy would get eaten alive in MMA" or whatever. Why? I know that it's a different type of competition than wrestling, but why couldn't a WWE wrestler compete in MMA if given the proper training? Many professional athletes in the NFL/NBA/MLB or whatever could play another professional sport if given the chance.

The big difference between MMA and Wrestling to me is the real physicality and competition. Yes wrestlers take hard bumps, punches and kicks, but they for the most part already know that they are coming, and the guy giving it to them isn't going to stay with it and go for the kill.

It seems like all of the ones who make the transition to MMA do just fine. I think people exaggerate "what it takes" to be in MMA

Some wrestlers are fucking tough as balls, though. Yeah, it's a "fake" sport, and they know stuff is going to happen, but you have guys who can legitimately beat the shit out of dudes. I mean, I remember back to Tough Enough 4 when they did that "Dixie Dogfight" crap between Daniel Puder and The Miz near the finals. Puder won, but everyone expected The Miz to get washed over, but I remember there being quite a bit of surprise when he stood ground a little. Maybe Puder was going "easy" or whatever, but still -- I wouldn't want to fight a wrestler.
Yoshi Tatsu is an example -- he completely owned Sheamus and apparently made him cry. Chris Jericho also owned Goldberg. Say what you will about Goldberg, but he's not a dude that would lose too many fights on the street.
If a guy had good mat knowledge, good martial arts knowledge and can take a hit, I think they would cross-over well. With proper training, of course. David Hart Smith is one who comes to mind. The dude has apparently trained with Chris Barnett, or something, and he's a fucking fine wrestler.
It seems like all of the ones who make the transition to MMA do just fine. I think people exaggerate "what it takes" to be in MMA
But then again, the ones who go into MMA would probably know that a) they have what it takes, and b) they are fucking tough.
I think the biggest detriment to professional wrestlers in MMA is the state of their body. Injuries and such build-up and physically, and mentally, it's hard to think of wrestlers as ever being at 100%. That'd be the biggest reason why Kurt Angle is not in MMA, I think. That and he loves wrestling too much.

the guys who've made the transition have legit amateur wrestling backgrounds... which is an amazing base to have.

Yeah, especially when he "tunes up the band" first. No one will see it coming.

Hey remember when 5'10 wrestler Chris Jericho got him in a choke hold or something?
I like the dude. I'm a fan but I don't think he would be a fit for MMA.

For some reason Mike Knox popped into my head along with Kozlov.
I remember watching some MMA show, prob on HDNet that had a fat white guy with a beard fighting which is probably where I got the idea of Knox from.
Also, cool factoid: Goldberg smashed that limo window out at a Thunder Taping I went to here locally.
