Following this week’s experiment, TNA President Dixie Carter has announced that Impact will be moving to 8pm permanently as of next week.

The show had been floundering against WWE’s Monday Night Raw at 9-11pm but saw some ratings growth this past Monday.

Be sure to make a mental note to tune in on Mondays at 8pm ET on Spike from now on. There will be repeats on Thursdays at 9pm ET also.

very very wise move in my opinion

It is wise. But they also have to remember to put the effort in to keep the viewers past 9pm.

It's a good move. They should have done this in the first place. I wonder how they can continue to play the whole "going to war" angle, after moving back an hour with their tail between their legs

well they are still 'at war' for an hour each week

This is, honestly, the best move TNA has made since Hogan came in.

Though I do have to agree with Jeritron. This just shows that they're insuperior and weak when it comes to "the war". I seriously hope they scale that bullshit back until they're pulling in ratings equivalent to at least SmackDown! (which probably won't happen)....

they could probably push for a 3 hour show so they would get the 1 hour unopposed and also span the length of the raw show, i know spike is really behind tna so maybe they would go for that, the problem in that lies within the ' is that too much' category, but a 3 hour show would give the booker more chance to showcase the seldom used talent and have longer matches.

they would just fill that extra hour with skits involving bischoff in some way

3 hours is way too much with this writing team. It'd just be more overbooking.

Plus I don't think 3 hours would be worth it unless they're getting very strong ratings against RAW's first hour. This week, they didn't.

There is no repeat. TNA, like morons, killed it.

It was getting equal to or better ratings than the Monday airing.

Edit: Missed that part. Kudos to TNA.

They should start at seven. They might actually get viewers.

I also disagreed with the elimination of the Thursday replay, and glad they brought it back.

I hope TNA keeps the replay. Less shit to watch on Monday.

I think a lot of people agree with this.

If they were smart, they would make their 8-9pm full of their top feuds and 9-10 their women's shit and the X-division. People already like the X-division, so the hardcore fans of that will still tune in. I thought it was great booking by TNA to put Angle versus Anderson at 853 till 910ish, although I would have made it at 845-905.

Now it isn't a war, it's a battle. :D

There is no war yet for sure... But I guess they have finally been reading the TPWW kids on here... Haven't we all been screaming this since the Jan 4 announcement? Finally a good move from them...

P.S. Pop, yer a badass wrestler... Stop stealing Jerichos moves...

So, they know it is the shitty writing and the all over the place stories that are losing them ratings, instead of the time slot?

Why would they?

Monday's show was one of the weakest since the move to Monday and they jumped up in rating by 0.3... That's a 50% increase in rating in one week I'd say that had a lot to do with the move to 8pm.

The problem with this is that the knockouts receive the highest numbers of the show usually.....so it seems you and several others are ignoring that fact, sad as it is.

Honestly I'm still waiting for Raw to get more viewers...I mean it is the higest rated wrestling show right now, and it does manage to do USA pretty well in the standings....but to call anything below a 4 acceptable where the show use to be in the 5's and 6's is just a sign of mediocrity. Both companies need to find a way to make more people see wrestling a worthy form of entertainment.

I highly doubt that TNA will change its order of operations right now. Really the whole show needs to be good, not just parts of it. The business can't afford anything less right now.

TNA bringing in the ECW Faction and reviving the WolfPac is clearly a smart idea.. I just wonder where Jeff Hardy will go with that.. It looks like Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy, Helms, and Moore could start their own faction. I like all these factions as it's what made WCW thrive strong.. ( until Russo & the POWERS to bust, came in ) Also bringing in Heyman would be a creative strongpoint for writing segments and character building. The 8 pm move was clearly a great idea as it thrived for WCW. It will give loyal WWE fans the chance for an hour of wrestling for now, and hopefully in the future, loyalty to stay on Spike instead of switching over.. It'll give TNA a chance to build on their storylines for that hour to these unknown watchers. As long as Flair and Hogan remain out of the ring and stay limited, then more hype can be done and their characters won't be overplayed and boring due to their age and phsyical shape. It's just pathetic to watch them or Abyss run around. Abyss is the worst actor/wrestler I've ever seen. Randy Orton needs to give him some serious lessons. Maybe call the Rock up and teach him a thing or two. It's grueling to watch a segment with Abyss, almost as bad to see the same promo with Bubba Ray or Steiner. I can see Steiner being in Flair's Faction as the heels. I am looking forward to seeing Sting turn face and rejoin the Wolfpac as I just don't see him staying heel as credible to the fans as he can't do too much except for the hype. I'm also interested to see Team Hogan turn heel, but the question will be whos left on Team Hogan later.. If his team turns heel in the near future, I could see Steiner on there and some old NWO Characters to revive it.. It'd be ECW vs Nwo vs WolfPac vs Four Horsemen vs The WWE aka The hardys n company but these guys can fit into the current X Division nicely so they probably wont have to create a faction to make up for any weakness that the other wrestlers possess. As Hardy n RVD and Helms n Shannon Moore are already over with the fans, are in great shape, and can wrestle great unlike Steiner, Hogan, Nash, Flair, Sting, etc.. That's ultimately why Factions are made, for storylines and to make up for the lack of strength of some in different fields like mic work, wrestling ability, etc...

Or it could just be speculation with only one factor considered, especially given the actual number of fans didn't change much. But then, I'm not a Total Non-stop Apologist, so might be doing this wrong.
