View Full Version : So, apparently NXT is being cancelled

I checked around, but couldn't see a thread for this anywhere. Sorry if there is one, feel free to remove this. But yeah, I quite liked NXT the few times I watched it.
The word going around today is that when Smackdown moves to SyFy in October, NXT will finish its run.
Apparently the Friday night line-up SmackDown! is replacing will be moving to the Tuesday slot? The WWE also hopes to keep NXT alive somehow, with Bravo being a talked about home for it. I dunno, I mean I like the concept, but maybe it just doesn't work? I'd much rather the WWE just do NXT every now and then (like Tough Enough).
When I first read about this, I kind of hoped that the WWE would replace NXT with a RAW vs. SmackDown! show, like the Bragging Rights PPV concept. Have Michael Cole (RAW), Matt Striker (SmackDown!) and Josh Mathews (neutral) do commentary for it, and make some purple ropes.

I don't watch NXT so this doesn't bother me, but October is still six months away, so it'll give them a bit more time to build up all the rookies so what when the first 'season' or whatever is finished they'll have a new set of names to do nothing with and then release.
I don't watch NXT

Also, not that it really matters, but it's not exactly being canceled. The deal was only meant for the one season. I guess WWE didn't quite expect it to catch on?

This better not happen.

I wouldn't worry about it, I'd say it's almost guaranteed NXT will keep going, just not on SyFy.

After they started adding stupid little events, they can cancel that shit and I wont care.

Announcements from SyFy and WWE indicated Smackdown was joining the network alongside NXT.
While I don't refute PWInsider as a decent source, it's possible this is rushed or speculation. Of course, I doubt WWE wants to advertise the show's over, so take that for what you will.

They could always send NXT to WGN to replace Superstars which nobody watches.
Superstars has beaten TNA in the ratings.

They could keep it on SyFy to the same effect. *rimshot*

I watch bits of it on youtube. Very impressive. But I don't have Sky or anything to watch it on, and I'm too busy to go looking for everything online, so I just look up the stuff that interests me.

Even though I dont like half the rookies and pros on the show, I still find it the most entertaining hour of wrestling per week now that HBK is gone.

In fairness I think we can just consider NXT as a more widely televised version of what OVW was but with added cameo's from stars that the WWE want us to care about.
If it wasn't for Bryan Danielson being on it, it would be nothing short of pointless.
Thus it will serve it's purpose of getting him over with Cena marks and the like, then we can put it in the box under our bed with the star wars figures and them old pogs and stuff.

A much better slam would have been along the lines of:
As was stated, nobody watches Superstars. Guess what that makes you?

I doubt Syfy is going to want to have two wrestling shows. It'd odd enough for them to have one... and two, that might brand them as a "rasslin" channel. If it doesn't get canceled it will definitely have to find another station to air on... or WWE.com.

I dont see how they could do NXT again without at least a 3 or 4 month break in between.
Here is your winner of NXT...(BLAH)..next week tune in for a new batch of people you probably have never heard of unless you spend every waking moment on the internet, in which case you're a loser and Michael Cole hates you!

Well, since they don't want to be a Sci Fi channel, and since they want ratings, it'd be foolish to chuck a show that's getting better ratings than most of their programming, originals included.
Then again, they've chucked shows that were getting better ratings than most of their programming before, so it's not like it's completely unprecedented.
But still.

I really like NXT.
I forgot who said this, I think Jim Ross, they should have made it like The Ultimate Fighter. Have everyone live in a house and have real interactions. That would create real feuds and what not.

I meant no harm either, I just had the slam going through my head and wanted to share.
