View Full Version : Jeff Hardy

-- There is much internal concern regarding the state of Jeff Hardy. Many feel his work since coming to TNA has been lackluster not to mention that his promos are rambling and sometimes virtually incoherent. Several people are comparing his current state to his previous run in the company, which occurred as a result of his termination from World Wrestling Entertainment for erratic behavior, drug use, refusal to enter rehab and deteriorating ring performance.
I don't watch TNA much, and I haven't watched since the Jan 4th show, but is Jeff really in bad shape again?

TNA needs a wellness policy.
However, the wellness policy will kill TNA.

Haven't really noticed, but then again I never really saw him in WWE. Also I don't think he's ever had a promo since rejoining TNA?

Fucking idiot.
Doesn't deserve a world title ever again, imo.
I'd guess it's more to do with not having a Vince McMahon around to 'motivate' him and minimize his daft ideas and 'creativity'. TNA will let him do what he wants to try and keep him sweet. I imagine his promos to resemble something of an uberstoned Ultimate Warrior.
Who didn't see this coming?

TNA is a joke for supporting this shit and allowing it to happen. They think that because they haven't had any big tragedies yet, that it doesn't apply to them. They just look the other way while WWE has the wellness policy.
It works to their advantage, since they can scoop up all the guys that don't want to be piss tested and use them for ratings. I'm sure this is why they do it.
It's just really low, in my opinion. Eventually something awful is going to happen to somebody, and they'll act like they had no idea. For all the things they strive to be like WWE with, the wellness policy should be one of them.

Honestly people. When has Jeff Hardy ever cut a decent promo? The guy has always been trash on the Mic, and to be honest with you, he has gotten over because of his reputation, his in ring ability, and because of the feuds & storylines he has been a part of while in the WWE. He did not get over because he was money on the mic.

I saw him on Matt Hardy's youtube. He's pretty out there. If it's anything like that there is no way he should be allowed to speak ever again. Probably not limited just to TNA but in general.

That's how I feel. During his run at the top of the WWE a couple years ago, Hardy was over huge. I couldn't believe how over he got with the entire audience. He had the momentum to be on top for a few years, IMO.
And then he pretty much pissed it all away.

It was a ratings grab. TNA was/is desperate to sign anyone who has ever been mildly successful in the WWE.

Sadly, he'll probably get one, or more, if he doesn't kill himself first.
TNA is a joke for supporting this shit and allowing it to happen.
I think it's unfair when WWE was Jeff's biggest enabler for the longest time. Especially given the odds Jeff'll come back to WWE.
They've shown they'll likely even support Jeff Hardy until after he's been exposed publicly, or is about to be exposed publicly. And it's not just him. they were tolerant of a lot of drug users, a tolerance that is one of the main reasons so many of these fuckers are dead. Eddie Guerrero really sparked the shit up, and even then WWE's tried to slip changes to loosen their policies up while nobody's looking. Guys like Kendrick were tolerated to the Nth degree, and we still ended up with a couple of scandals despite the Wellness Policy. Major stars are only mildly punished for drug abuse...But Dammit, TNA is bad for tolerating what is yet to be determined as a real drug issue!

I haven't watched him in TNA, but in the WWE, Jeff Hardy benefitted from being put in some great focused feuds (vs. Randy Orton, vs. CM Punk). I truthfully believe that is what made Jeff Hardy interesting. If they want us to care about Hardy again, he needs a really interesting program. Stick him against Doug Williams, or something.

He's doing fine. His in-ring work has been good enough, OK his promos are awful but weren't they always? He's not involved in a 1 on 1 feud of anything yet so give it a chance.
Plus I really like his theme music.

Since 2002 (after the Hardys officially split), the only time I've given a rats ass about Jeff Hardy was his fued last year with CM Punk, which was in fact fucking awesome.
The sad thing is he'll come back from this and be world champion again by next year, whether in TNA or WWE.

I think if Jeff Hardy returned to the WWE, the first things they would have him do are probably: a) team with Matt Hardy again; b) continue his program with CM Punk. Maybe not in that order. I don't think a World Title would be immediately on Vince's agenda. Not after he left the company so fast. With two suspensions to his name, and a walk to TNA, he'll get the Christian treatment for a fair bit.
But I am fully of the belief that Jeff Hardy should not be in the TNA World Title scene. I know he's a hot name and all, but TNA could really help shake their "WWE guy becomes instant success in TNA" stigma by putting Jeff lower on the card, and getting him to help boost scenes like the X-Division. I think the same thing should be done with Rob Van Dam, truthfully. And TNA should find some money somewhere (either by cutting unneccessary talent, big names they don't need, or from the pocket of Hogan, Bischoff or Panda) and invest in getting some good entrance themes for wrestlers. I'm not sure how much exactly it would cost, but RVD coming out to "Walk" by Pantera would be fucking epic.

For current fans of the WWE product he means a lot, though. Right up until he left the WWE, he was like their most successful face act, I believe. He was fucking over with crowds, and people were buying his merchandise. I think Hardy stuff often surpassed John Cena goods.
For the record: Shelton Benjamin is much better on the mic than Jeff Hardy, in my opinion. Shelton can have quiet moments of awesome. I find the guy quite entertaining when his uncomfortability does not get in the way.

Thing is no-one can read Jeff's next move. His passion for wrestling comes and goes all the time. If he was in WWE and being used like Christian, he'd probably just fuck off. One thing I do admire about Jeff Hardy is he truly does what the fuck he likes, and you can't deny he's 'cool' in his own, weird way.
I like the fact that when he was told his next storyline would be a love triangle with him, Matt and Lita, he told Stephanie no way would he do that. I know he does SO much stupid shit but I admire his ridiculous laid back approach to life. He probably enjoys life more than 99% of the population.
Went well off topic but feel this post deserves a place amongst a lot of Jeff Hardy criticism :D

Jeff Hardy = Overrated.
Horrible on the mic, and not the greatest wrestler. Not even good.
I'll go as far as to say that Jeff Hardy is a skinny and less-hardcore version of Mick Foley...without the mic skills.

Agreed. Unfortunately it's going to keep him from ever realizing his fullest potential as a wrestler. Honestly now that he's had a world title run, he should only ever show up in WWE for short term tag runs with Matt.

all do respect I think you're oversimplifying...
in the year 2000 both fans and wrestlers were saying his body is going to be nearly cripled in 10 years into his career. well it's been 15, 10 years since we started saying this here on TPWW.
I don't care what people say, i know how the drug trade works and those pills are sold in the 1000's and it's very normal for people to buy 500 at a time for not any to be sold, i've known many regular working joe's do it. Hardy being high profile doesn't need to go buy dope every second day, he has the money to buy in bulk. It saves him money as well keeps him supplied for long.
there is no way he was trying to make a few extra bucks selling them, atleast not go out of his way to do so (addicts wont see a problem hooking up a buddy in need... inless they are affraid to run out)
I think he's just beat up and it's gotten to the point were his tollrance is so high that pain reliving doses are also lethal doses, so he's just getting enough to feel not as crapy as he would otherwise, but still feels crapy everyday, even with them.
he bassicly needs to take them to get a bit closer to feeling healthy. this is obviously only a short term solution that he has been using long term.

To the general public, perhaps (Though the Hardy Boys were up there in terms of name value in the Attitude Era), but to other wrestling fans? They're trying to court them, too. People who aren't turned on by Hogan may be turned on by Jeff. and yes, that's a double entendre.

I would actually mark out a little if Jeff Hardy goes to Lockdown dressed in a Sting theme. He already uses the facepaint, so just darken up the rest of his attire. Would make an interesting dynamic for the main event.
