I installed Avira Antivirus Personal for free (and legally) but I have two problems.

1) It wont update. I've tried 4 times and it always has an error.

2) When I log on, it tells me it strongly recomends I change my pc user account from an administrator to a limited account. Any idea why and what I should do? I have to stay an administrator.

Any help would be appreciated.

Change the anti-virus to Avast. I've not even heard of the one you're using.

It's recommending you go to a limited account just so you have less chance of installing viruses. If you have Vista or Windows 7, you're already technically on a limited account and the UAC kicks in to escalate up to admin to run certain stuff.

If you must use your current anti-virus though, check firewall settings. only thing I can think of to stop it updating.

I had Avast before and I downloaded it again. I got rid of the Avira. Thanks.

too bad for you, avira is the best. It wasn't updating because there's a new version out, and you'll need to download it.

Avira rules except for the pop up advertisements after each and every update :-\
