Sick card. Hendo V Shields, Melendez V Aoki, Lawal V Mousasi, possibly Miller V Stout.
This thread may be early, I'm not sure what time today that the event is on.

Great card but I don't think Miller v. Stout will be on the televised portion.

I hate watching Shields fight. All the credit in the world for beating Hendo, but I hate watching Shields fight. If he had decent ground 'n pound, it'd be a different story.
Also, Cesar Gracie, way to teach discipline, assmunch. Your camp just proved the "Strikefarce" moniker right. And time will tell if CBS decides to show MMA on their station again (may be doubtful). And without CBS, there's a better than good chance there'll be no Fedor.

Was at a bar and saw some of the fights. Just got home and read the reports of a brawl. What the hell happened?

"Sometimes these things happen... in MMA"
BULLSHIT. Shields should get fined, the rest of the Cesar Gracie clowns should get their licenses yanked. ESPECIALLY the Diaz clowns.

Why should Shields get fined?

He did throw a few punches in the melee. And I was going easy on him because he did immediately apologize.

And yet another reason i cant stand the Diaz brothers. They fucking act so 'street', yknow? Oooh, from Stockton CA, scary! Mature and fucking act like a professional, dont start kicking and throwing punches in a melee.
also, i dont think Miller did anything wrong. He's a showman, and went in there to speak against a rival in the division...you see it in the UFC alot, but thats where it ends. Those classless fucks started getting physical? Cmon.

Yea can't stand the Diaz brothers. They are like the MMA version of the Briscoe Brothers, except the Briscoes don't come off as total dicks.

Worst thing about the whole situation is that Strikeforce is throwing Mayhem under the bus for it. Saying he "acted on his own."
Ok, so basically, Strikeforce is admitting that they have no control over who comes into their cage. They are admitting that their security sucks ass by taking this position. In essence, Strikefarce is becoming more and more apt a nickname...
Impact!
04-18-2010, 02:45 PM
It' fucking stupid, Mayhem only says "when's my rematch buddy" with a big grin on his face, and Melendez, and the Diaz bros jump him (followed by the rest of the rest of the Gracie camp). Bloody idiotic...
alvarado52
04-18-2010, 03:37 PM
Yeah, i noticed that they really threw Miller under the bus. You hear little afterward about the Diaz bros, or the Melendez...all you heard was how 'disgusted' they were with Miller. And as for the 'these things happen in MMA', they should have said 'in Strikeforce' instead of smearing the entire sport.
Now because of that comment, casual viewers will think of MMA as even more of a glorified street fight.

Basically, after a night of sleep I'll say this:
1. Mayhem had no business being in Shields' face. That's on Mayhem.
2. Mayhem had no business being in the cage. That's on Strikeforce.
3. The Cesar Gracie camp had no business doing ganging up on one fighter. That's on the Cesar Gracie camp.
Of course, Strikeforce isn't going to own up to their own mistake. They're not gonna blame the Gracie camp, which is home to their Welterweight, Lightweight, AND Middleweight Champion. So, they throw Mayhem under the bus. It's not all on him, but he shouldn't have been in Shields' face.
Side Note: If the Gracie Camp thinks that Mayhem was being a disrespectful prick by stealing Shields' thunder, I have one name for them: KJ Noons.

Why would they stage something that hurts their reputation, and the reputation of the sport as a whole?
HeartBreakMan2k
04-18-2010, 07:39 PM
Because CBS cares about ratings? And that's no worse than any of their other programs? So they dipped into WWE Style hyping to try and garner more for that fight? And they don't really give that big of a shit about the sport as a whole?

Strikeforce actually brought Nick Diaz into the cage for that confrontation after KJ fought Yves Edwards. Diaz didn't just wander into the cage, they invited him in so they could hype Diaz/Noons 2...
Obviously what the Diaz' did wasn't right but they cut away so fast I didn't hear what else Mayhem said. He said something after "I want my rematch." He said something to Melendez who was trying to get Miller out of there. Whatever Miller said at that point will determine how much the Caesar Gracie team overracted.
If I were to guess they overracted a lot.

Actually it was EliteXC, and it wasn't just Nick Diaz. I remember Nate being involved in the melee that occurred after that one, as well.

"Of course, everyone thinks I'm anti-competition, but I'm not. Everyone knows that they didn't belong on CBS. Even if you're the biggest UFC hater out there, you know that. Shame on CBS for this. They knew they should have been with us, but they went out and let those Showtime idiots talk them into going with Elite XC. Now, they're stuck with a bush league, C-level promotion that will probably be out of business next month. And what you saw on Saturday is the kind of thing that happens when you put a product like that on national television... When have you seen anything remotely close to that happen at a UFC event? What kind of ridiculous commentary was that [speaking of Gus Johnson's ‘these things happen in MMA' comment]? That was an idiotic thing to say. And then he was yelling at them to stop, telling them they are on national television. That was just another example of how bush league they are."

It's very possible there's gonna be some asses are gonna be set to the fire.
I think even if it went as far as Shields pushing Mayhem away, he wouldn't have done anything more than just talk. Melendez or whatever coming up to help his bro was unnecessary.

Probably just some fines and some light suspensions 6 months max.
It doesn't matter to Nick Diaz anyway since he'll be fighting in Japan next.
