We all know about the Rockers' phantom title win from that SNME taping, but I was wondering what other phanto title wins there are? I'm talking about ones that never made it to TV and/or were never mentioned on TV. Jericho's first title win on RAW, for example, doesn't count.

The following Jeritron post inspired this post:

Two of my friends went to a house show in 1998 where Stone Cold faced The Rock in what was clearly announced as a world title matchup, and Stone Cold won cleanly.
He even hoisted up the belt. Obviously this didn't stick, and The Rock was WWF on tv still

There were quite a few for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, especially in Japan and Puerto Rico.

I'm sure Dusty Rhodes was behind a lot of these

I know this was on TV, so it doesn't really count, but:

Didn't Roddy Piper beat Hogan in what was clearly billed as a world title match, and then the belt didn't change hands and no explanation was given?
This was in WCW in 1996 or 97

Well it was Starrcade 96, but the problem with the argument is it was never booked as a Title match. I think it was just assumed. It should of been for the Title, but Piper never mentioned wanting to win the belt during any of the build from what i remmeber.

To answer the original question, there were tons at house shows. I can't remember anything specific though. The belt would always change back before the live TV though.

I seem to remember a story about Owen Hart winning the WWF title at a house show or something.

Comment:

WCWMondayNitroOnYT I would love for Owen to be acknowledged as WWF Champion but I used to own this Coliseum Video tape. What happened after the pinfall was all the refs came into the ring and they showed the replay on the monitor and the decision was reversed. When a decision is reversed, the former winner isn't acknowledged as the champion. It was a travesty that as hot as Owen was in 94 that he didn't get the belt put around his waist. RIP Owen.

Crowd was pretty fucking dead for a title switch.

Back during the Hardcore title 24/7 rule, the title changed a bunch of times on house shows and stuff, which didn't officially count on the record books.

sure they all did..... look up the Title history.... the Title usually changed hands 2-4 times every show, with the original Title holder winning it back....
