View Full Version : What WWE Superstar are you "high on"?

In the early parts of the new millennium and the 90's we in the IWC would often hear who the WWE is "high on", be it Vince, JR, Stephanie and Triple H, or Johnny Ace... Basically a term used for thinking that somebody has a lot of potential. So it's a simple question because it has been several years since I have been able to say who TPWW is high on. People used to have these "crushes" on guys like Val Venis (Noid), or Billy Gun (The One, who else), and of course guys like Christain, William Regal, and Chris Jericho who obviously has "made it".

So who are you high on? Post a photo or a video and a little write up to say what you see in your superstar and how you think WWE writers could book said superstar to a main event level push.

Goldust

How fucking great has this guy been the past year? He has been on ECW and Superstars teaching young guys how to work and having great matches with some established stars. He has dropped weight and picked up a 25 year old's speed. He has intent to hurt behind all of his moves and is one of the most believable and best wrestlers WWE has on the pay roll. Obviously this is a 20+ year pro we are talking about, and I think he is on similar note as the Undertaker hit about two or three years ago, he is like a fine wine and has aged to excellence.

So after all these years and an initial top level booking in the mid nighties, Goldust has come and gone, seen drastic gimmick changes and alterations (some good some bad), and now he is back in a decent spot with tons of opportunity. How would I book Goldust to another successful run?

For the next three weeks I would work Goldust hard on WWE Superstars and WWE Smackdown!, I would put him over in ever match and make sure they were giving leeway for an impressive encounter, one that made Goldust look like he belongs at the top. During these matches Goldust would start slowly to use more and more homosexual type mind games like he did in 95. By the third week, on Smackdown! Goldust is wrestling John Morrison, and Morrison just bails during the match and gets counted out. He couldn't stay in the ring with him, he was groping him and eventually kissed him so he just took the count out.

The next week on Smackdown! Goldust has a video talking about his return smash hit, his next Hollywood blockbuster, it's a squeal to Oliver Stone's 1991 Academy Award nominated film "The Doors", and its going to be called "Back Door Man: The Story of How The Golden One Took Every Thing He Ever Wanted From John Morrison"... and you will never forget the name of ......... GOLDUST

They show John Morrison watching on a monitor backstage and being very weirded, but next he is going to go one on one with Drew McIntyre in a non title match. During the match Morrison makes an impressive showing and is control when Goldust in robe walks down to the ring with stroking a pussy cat, and starting at John Morrison. Morrison turns his back on McIntyre and goes to the ropes yelling at Goldust to leave. Goldust starts to slowly open his robe as if perhaps he has nothing behind it, and Morrison turns away in fear of the sight... He turns right into a lariat attempt by McIntyre but ducks, and connects with a super kick and gets the 123...

Now Morrison is announced as the #1 Contender for the IC title and will get a shot in two weeks on Smackdown!

The next episode, Goldust in in the ring with R-Truth, and using his antics is able to get the upper hand. Morrison eventually comes to ringside and pulls R-Truth out and is coaches him, saying "It's all mind games, try to ignore it, you can beat him just ignore it." Morrison stays at the side of R-Truth for the remainder. R-Truth rolls back in and Goldust viscously attacks with stomps. And the tactics by Goldust do not stop. The match is a long one. Goldust is sweaty, his paint is coming off, both men are hot and Goldust unzips his jump suit down to his belly... you can see where this is going eventually Goldust takes R-Truths hand and puts it down his jump suit, this drives R-Truth through the roof and he jumps over the top rope to the outside as John Morrison and Goldust exhange heated looks... McIntyre out of the crowd jump Morrison and sends him into the barricade. He then puts Morrison through an announce table to send a message for next week.

NEXT WEEK
JOHN MORRISON VS DREW MCINTYRE ON SMACKDOWN!

The show is built around this being the main event and to add more drama. Goldust has bought himself a "Private Seat" at ringside. Which of course is reserved for later tonight. So the match is on, Goldust is at ringside in his private seat watching the action. The two men go for their best match yet and both men put over the other by hitting all the big moves... until Goldust of course decides to hop the barricade... The referee tries to tell him to get back to his seat but Goldust starts to unzip his jumpsuit and the referee stops and say "Okay you can stay just keep your clothes on and mind your own business". The match goes on and Goldust just circles the ring looking at the men. Until in the heat of the match McIyntre is about to close up when from out of nowhere Goldust reaches up from the apron and pinches McIntyre on his ass! McIntyre spins around and stars yelling at Goldust and John Morrison is able to take advantage and clocks McIntyre from behind and connects with Starship pain and gets the victory and the IC Title. Goldust though takes the title from the table at ring side and quickly slides into the ring before Morrison gets to his feet. Morrison is laying in the ring face down hurt and exhausted when Goldust slides in next to him with the belt and lays over Morrison's ass, and then he lays down over the belt and John Morrison! Morrison is flailing under Goldust! He gets away and Goldust pulls him to the ring hard by his hair and then hits a bulldog right on the belt.

So basically it bring back the mind games playing Bizarre One and adds a new element to the show. This obviously leads to a Goldust / John Morrison feud... I think it could be interesting to do an Undertaker revisit as well, that could be really cool after he is established again.

Chris Jericho- Always loved to watch him perform
Edge/ Christian- Again, awesome
Morrison- Hoping he turns heel and goes back to his original Morrison character
Orton- Really like how they're treating his character right now, though I don't understand why he's getting a WHC shot if he's not gonna be drafted.

I don't, I only meant that they are kinda making it apparent.

Not really, there hasn't been anything that hinted that Orton wouldn't be drafted.

I meant with the whole Raw superstar getting a shot at the SD! title thing, it's pretty apparent that he will be. Otherwise, the whole thing is pretty pointless. Then again, it's basically the reverse of the Batista thing right now...

Oh shit you want an answer, well then it's a tie between Orton/McIntyre.

MIZ, simply because he's so charismatic and so creative in the way he plays the heel. He never goes for the easy heat. Every year I watch him and see how he's improved in the ring by leaps and bounds. I feel like he's got the drive to continue improving and continue cutting amazing promos.

Never though i'd say this a few years ago but The Miz is definetly someone who should still be getting a monster push like he was several months ago.

Attitude Era wrestlers
Jericho - #1 in list of wrestlers I've liked for years once The Rock and Stone Cold retired.
Christian
Edge

Brand Split wrestlers
C.M. Punk - Liked him when he first arrived but his SES heel run has been the best so far and defiantly the best heel in WWE right now.
The Miz - Didn't like him at first but his "feud" against Cena and the Miz-Show has made me a fan of him.
Mayrse/Beth Phoenix

New Wrestlers
Wade Barrett - The whole rose thing on his jacket/cape along with how well he works with Jericho makes them the best pairing on NXT.
Daniel Bryan - Only seen a few matches of him during his time in the Indies but his first match against Jericho really helped him a lot in the WWE.

I think the one guy that really stands out to me, especially in the past year has got to be Miz. I never thought I'd say this but he's probably the most charismatic guy since The Rock and reminds me a lot of Rock when he started as a heel. I don't really think anyone will ever be able to reach the level of charisma and popularity as Rock, but Miz could come close. His promos as a heel in recent months have been great, maybe it's something about guys who refer to themselves in third person that ooze charisma or something. This guy could be huge and I don't get why they didn't have him win MITB over Swagger.

Punk's character and SES storylines have been great, but as a performer his mic work doesn't do much for me, although he has definitely improved this past year. That being said, I can see why he's so popular right now based off of his character development and his storylines. Maybe he'll actually be able to capitalize and make a sustained big time career out of it and become a true major player.

Another guy who I've enjoyed more and more in the past year or so is Orton, even though you could say he's already established. I go through phases where I love his work and other times where he doesn't do anything for me. I think that's more due to the inconsistency in the writing though honestly.

http://image3.examiner.com/images/blog/EXID1734/images/459px-Dolph_Ziggler_Milwaukee_090908.jpg

He's great in the ring, charismatic, has a good look -- but everything just adds up more than the sum of its parts in my head with Dolph Ziggler. If I were in the WWE, he'd be the guy I'd constantly be making sure no on forgot.

Then there are the guys that I feel are just awesome: Chris Jericho, Christian, William Regal, CM Punk, John Morrison, Jack Swagger, The Miz, Santino Marella, etc. But if you asked me which single guy I am high on -- it's Mr. Ziggles and his Sleeper.
