View Full Version : R-Truth to have Kenny Gimmick?

Source: wrestlingnewscoops.net

Sources inside the WWE say that after the segment on RAW in which R-Truth was blown up by MacGruber, there is talk of adding a more comedic element to R-Truth's character. Much like the character Kenny in South Park, R-Truth would be killed every episode, but come back the very next week with no explanation. Vince is said to be very high on the idea.

I think it's a pretty stupid idea, especially doing it with someone like R-Truth. I'm not a huge Truth fan, but the guy is way over, so why not plug him into a meaningful program? If they really wanna use this comedy crap, use it with someone who's strictly a comedic act, like Hornswoggle (as VSG said)

This is a great idea. This is especially great in the wrestling industry where wrestler deaths are not a touchy subject at all and have not been the primary source of controversy in the business over the past decade or so.

So, to summerise...

1) Killing a wrestler on TV is a real bad idea given the number and focus on deaths in the industry.

2) Truth is pretty over as it is and WWE already failed with a comedic element in his act.

3) Vinny is TWELVE years too late with this idea!!

I didn't know it was going to happen when I watched RAW, and my feelings were like this: "Woot! R-Truth is annoying. Thank goodness they blew him up! Wait, why aren't they taking this seriously? This is making me feel a bit awkward. Shit...aren't they going to explain what happened to R-Truth?"

This angle is definitely not PG enough for the WWE to do, either. It could have some pretty decent backlash attached to it.

This is stupid. If they want to do this gimmick, do it with someone that's not that talented.

R-Truth is pretty solid in the ring and has an explosive style that can get the crowd hot. He is pretty comfortable on the mic (although I don't like the content of his promos, at least he has a lot of charisma...just has to work on what he says) and is pretty over already.

He was supposed to be I guess like one of those guys who worked out a lot, and Victoria managed him for a while. He'd usually come out with her by his side and she'd be holding a puke bucket, towel and a bottle of water, and sometimes he'd take a break during a match to towel off, get some water or whatever. That's about the extent of it.

Whether the gimmick is done in 1998 or 2010, it's still a bad idea, but it would have been a worse idea to have done it in 1998. South Park was really popular at that time so it wouldn't make sense for WWE to be copying exactly what another TV show is doing at the same time.
