View Full Version : The Draft (Possible Spoiler)

Sources inside the WWE reveal that with the departure of Shawn Michaels, the veritable death of DX, and the crowning of a new heavyweight champion in Jack Swagger, the time has come to significantly shake things up.

What does that mean exactly? No one quite knows for sure. But the rumor mill suggests a few exciting possibilities for the WWE Draft.

There are said to be heated discussions taking place inside the hallowed walls of World Wrestling Entertainment about the prospect of Shaemus getting shipped off to Smackdown after his WWE "Extreme Rules" clash with Triple H. Smackdown could very well prove the breeding ground for Shaemus to become the biggest heel in the sport, particularly if Batista does, in fact, retire after his upcoming in-ring departure to film a new movie.

Many fans in the WWE would also like to see the Undertaker return of Raw as he prepares for potential retirement. With 2010 possibly proving the last year of the deadman's phenomenal in-ring performance career, it's thought that both the Undertaker and officials at WWE would like the "Phenom" to end his incomparable run on the WWE's flagship program, Monday Night Raw.

Yeah, I never heard of it before either, but I just found it on-line and thought the report was interesting enough to post it. Of course, we don't know if it's true or not, but I guess we'll find out Monday night.

If the guest hosts were off RAW, I think it would really benefit Taker and the programming to send him over. I'm afraid if he goes over, the guest host is just gonna use Taker every week as a random monster opponent for the annoying heel that keeps bugging the host rather than getting any decent well built programs

Since it's not ending anytime soon, just leave him on SD!

Moving Sheamus would really shake things up. The 4 gingers in the audience will be distraught.

Doesn't seem to be much to this "report," but neither of those moves would shock me. I love the draft.

I like the idea of pushing Sheamus like that, lets see how it works.

Sheamus would work well on SD but you need a face to compete with him aka Orton

I think Orton is actually very likely to end up on SmackDown! after the draft.

Yeah, Orton's one move which I'd be shocked to not see happen.

If Undertaker is coming back to RAW then Cena's headed for SD.

<font color=goldenrod>Nah, I can definitely see Taker on the same show as HHH and Cena. Taker will only appear on like half the shows, if that...but moving him to Raw will foreshadow a WM match between one of those two guys.

Sheamus to SmackDown is something I've thought about, but I'm not sure. I figured HHH would want to keep him on Raw since they are friends but then again he's already feuded with Cena and HHH and unless they did a feud with Taker there's not really anywhere else for him to go.

Gonna probably do some "finalized" draft predictions in the near future.</font>

No way Cena goes to Smackdown

Sheamus to win at the PPV then move to smackdown, that way avoids being buried by HHH, would be a smart move.

Damn they really need to make some new main-eventers now more than ever. I think they have done literally every possible combination of their top guys feuding for a long ass time except HHH/Edge and Cena/Taker, with the latter likely being saved for WrestleMania 27 or 28.

sucks Orton is going to go to Smackdown. I'd rather see Cena move. They are obviously the two hottest babyfaces right now (I'd argue Orton is above Cena at this moment), so somebody has to go.

<font color=goldenrod>Time for a Noid post. Haven’t made a really long wrestling-related post in quite some time.

I’d been thinking about who will be drafted, and how they’ll organize it this year. With the recent roster cuts in place, Raw and SmackDown have nearly identical roster sizes, 36-37 apiece. However, since they are having a 3-hour draft special AND a supplemental draft, I figure each show will draft away nearly half of its roster.

So here’s how I’ve set it up – during the 3 hour show, there will be a randomized draft pick every 10 minutes, alternating between Raw and SmackDown. This means 20 picks will be shown on TV. Then later during the week on the Supplemental Draft, each brand will get 5 more picks.

<b><u>The Televised Draft (random picks every 10 minutes)</u></b>
1. SmackDown: Being the visiting brand, SmackDown gets the first pick. An impact is made immediately as <b>Sheamus</b> is drafted to the blue brand. He comes out and gloats about his win over Triple H the night previous.

2. Raw: The Raw announcers lament about the big loss that Sheamus was, and comment that they need a big pick to bounce back. The pick is indeed big, as <b>The Great Khali</b> is headed to Raw.

3. SmackDown: <b>Evan Bourne</b> is the next pick, and the IWC rejoices as he’ll surely be used better there.

4. Raw: Following an interpromotional divas match, <b>Michelle McCool</b> is drafted to Raw. She lost the Women’s Title to Beth Phoenix the night previous.

5. SmackDown: Yet another underutilized guy is moved, as <b>MVP</b> is drafted back to his original home, SmackDown.

6. Raw: Following a Hornswoggle comedy segment, the rarely-seen <b>Finlay</b> is drafted to the same show as his son. The two celebrate after being reunited.

7. SmackDown: Shaking up the divas division, <b>Kelly Kelly</b> is drafted to SmackDown. King sounds like he’s going to cry on commentary.

8. Raw: Our first champion on the night switches brands, <b>Drew McIntyre</b> is going to Raw. The Raw announcers brag about having both the US and IC Titles.

9. SmackDown: <b>Carlito</b> is drafted to SmackDown, he comes out and looks ecstatic to be moving away from the show where the Guest Hosts don’t care about you.

10. Raw: Fan-favorite <b>R-Truth</b> is the next selection. He celebrates his move by rapping with the crowd, then he dies in some crazy way.

11. SmackDown: More divas division shakeup, as <b>Jillian</b> is next. She sings, and continues with the same lame gimmick she’s had for 3 years.

12. Raw: A non-wrestler selection is next, as <b>Vickie Guerrero</b> gets moved to Raw. She gets enormous heel heat and announces that she will assist the Raw Guest Hosts.

13. SmackDown: SmackDown continues its habit of drafting people who had been underutilized on Raw, as <b>Christian</b> is the next draftee. He is now on the same show as his brother Edge.

14. Raw: One of the bigger names to be drafted to this point, <b>Chris Jericho</b> has been moved back to Raw. He cuts a promo and the pick is treated as very much of a big deal.

15. SmackDown: Flashing the Million Dollar Championship, <b>Ted DiBiase</b> moves shows for the first time in his career.

16. Raw: Jerry Lawler rejoices, as <b>Tiffany</b> is drafted to Raw to fill the void left by Kelly Kelly.

17. SmackDown: Making up for the loss of Khali, <b>Mark Henry</b> is the next man drafted. Good thing SmackDown has mainly good workrate guys.

18. Raw: One night after beating his former partner at Extreme Rules, <b>Shad</b> takes his newfound mean streak over to Raw.

19. SmackDown: The blue brand makes the most of its final pick of the night, as <b>Randy Orton</b> is drafted to SmackDown. The SmackDown commentators seem extremely happy with their acquisitions.

20. Raw: The main event totally breaks down as a massive brand warfare clusterfuck happens in the ring, people seem to have forgotten that Raw has one final pick. It’s <b>The Undertaker</b>! Lights go out, they come back on, Taker is in the ring and he beats the shit out of everybody to close the show.

<b><u>The Supplemental Draft (on WWE.com, 10 minutes between picks)</u></b>
1. SmackDown: <b>Zack Ryder</b> kicks off the supplemental draft with a desperately needed change of scenery. Woo woo woo, you know it.

2. Raw: The Dudebusters tag team temporarily finds itself split up as <b>Caylen Croft</b> is drafted to Raw.

3. SmackDown: Even more diva swaps as <b>Alicia Fox</b> is drafted next.

4. Raw: <b>Goldust</b> makes a return to his old stomping grounds and figures to prominently be involved in comedy segments. Maybe he’ll revisit his tag team with Yoshi Tatsu, or have a storyline with Cody Rhodes.

5. SmackDown: De-facto jobbers Jimmy Wang Yang and Slam Master J just got released. Somebody needs to fill that spot, so <b>Primo</b> goes to SmackDown.

6. Raw: Tying up some loose ends here with <b>Ranjin Singh</b> being drafted to Raw to continue managing Khali once he returns.

7. SmackDown: Another loose end tied up sees <b>Rosa Mendes</b> shipped off to stay with her boyfriend Zack Ryder.

8. Raw: Fairly obvious selection here as <b>Trent Barreta</b> also gets drafted to Raw to keep The Dudebusters together.

9. SmackDown: With its final pick in the draft, SmackDown gets <b>Chris Masters</b>. I kinda wanted to move Yoshi Tatsu in this spot, but I figure Masters would be more likely to receive a push and SmackDown would be the place to do it.

10. Raw: Raw makes up for the loss of more divas as <b>Layla</b> is drafted for the third year in a row in the final pick of the draft. She finds herself reunited with Michelle McCool and Vickie Guerrero.

Cena'd be the bigger shakeup, too. A shame it's unlikely to happen. They will keep the face of the company on the flagship show.

<font color=goldenrod>Probably, which sucks. I can't believe that nobody in WWE has figured out that it makes ZERO sense for a cowardly heel to want to bring more competition to his show.

Hoping SmackDown doesn't get buried in the draft.</font>

I loved your post, Vito. Not one of those moves seems too outlandish or anything to me. Here are some of the swaps I see happening.

To RAW:
Edge
Finlay
JTG
Kane
Layla
Michelle McCool
The Undertaker
Vickie Guerrero

To SmackDown!:
Carlito
Cody Rhodes
Jillian Hall
Kofi Kingston
MVP
Primo
R-Truth
Randy Orton

Now obviously that wouldn't be the whole thing -- but those are some moves I can see going down.

<font color=goldenrod>Thanks! R-Truth is already on SmackDown. I'm assuming you meant him move to Raw? That's a move I would actually be surprised if it didn't go through.

The interesting thing about this year's draft is it feels like Triple H is the only guy who is 100% a lock to NOT be drafted (he only went to SmackDown in 2008 to spend time with Steph...she's preggers again but not due til like December so I highly doubt he'd leave Raw). I'd also say Cena is about 95% likely to stay on Raw as well, but I'd be less shocked to see him move than see Triple H move again.</font>
