I basically took the idea of this thread from BillyBonez thread, which ended up being about Mark Henry going gay. Not what I thought it would be when I clicked on it...
So my thread is suggesting WWE or TNA reusing old character ideas with new wrestlers. I'm not suggesting they pick a new guy and send him out there as El Matador or The Warlord, or parodying them like Black Machismo.
I'm suggesting that they take the basics of an old character and rehash it, update it and apply it to someone that may need it.
What characters would you like to see, and with which new or failing wrestler?
And what would you do to update it?

Much better way to do this topic.
I'm currently enjoying the Viper gimmick that Orton is working, as it kinda feels like an update to the Rattlesnake gimmick. I hope it stays this way.
I posted in another thread that Jericho's character should evolve into a Mr. Mcmahon type character on Smackdown. The update to this would be that he uses his power to leverage himself into title matches. As far as the rest of the SD! roster: vintage Mr. Mcmahon. I forget now what thread I posted this in though.
I see Miz evolving into a character somewhat akin to the Great One. I say that because he's continually improving, and he's great on the mic.
I want to see Demolition again, but alas I see no one who would fit that tag team profile.

No. For every cool gimmick there will be 95 Hillbilly Jims and 75 Doinks. Fuck off with this shit.

It would be interesting if Sheamus started to mock Triple H by acting like a blueblood. It might give him some much needed personality.

I'd like to see an updated Waylon Mercy character, which is what I thought Dolph Ziggler was gonna be at first.
Also, For Trevor Rhodes (aka Trevor Murdoch, etc etc.) and Lance Cade, I felt they dropped the ball with the Redneck Wrecking Crew. They could have easily been an updated version of the Texas Outlaws or the Hardliners.

I like the Waylon Mercy-type meanstreak for Dolph Ziggler. I've seldom enjoyed him more than when he's beating down some giant with a steel chair or taking them down with his Sleeper Hold.
