Why did it take us this long to see Edge and Christian in the same ring, only to be cock teased about a match.
The Smackdown crowd fucking sucks tonight too. Dead Crowd.

I doubt Edge wants to go back to tag after having such a great singles run and I don't think Vince wants an Edge v. Christian program because he knows it would be one of the greatest programs in recent memory because of the history between the two and Christian would get over even more. Something Vince doesn't seem to keen on allowing.

That segment was horrible. I'm not a big fan of either guy, although I respect that they can put on some good matches.
Their act is old though.

I really don't like it when either guy tries to be "serious" and realistic, they just come off so fake.

That was a pretty good segment between "Best Friends"
(not brothers) Edge and Christian on tonights Smackdown.
Why do it though? It was great TV on Smackdown, but with both guys being on different shows, what was the point?
It just seems to me Christian is getting pushed down again. Christian leaves RAW without a program, is drafted after Swagger wins, does the "I want the belt" manuever towards Swagger, is involved in a great segment that won't lead to a fued, and Big Show is suddenly and inexplicably the number one contender.
Christian of course says he wants the World Title, which is what all us peeps hope for...
I just don't get why WWE writers have him say he wants the belt, tease an Edge and Christian fued that likely won't happen given the circumstances, and just under-utilize him in general. I know Vince isn't very high on him, but I really think he's missing out on some money... I'm not just saying that because I am a huge Christian mark, but this guy is major over.
I really really wish WWE could use SUPERSTARS as a spring board for a fued between Edge and Christian. Its the only logical way. It would make the show that much more interesting.

Don't know what the point is, since they are in diff brands and can't have a match now.
Unless they are ALREADY going to start blurring the draft boundaries.
After the draft week they usually keep it pretty solid for at least a few months.
Are you quoting "best friends" because they refer to them as that on TV or pointing out they aren't actually brothers to TPWW?
glanville6
04-30-2010, 10:31 PM
Because how they are referred to now on TV. I know TPWW isn't dumb.
Score another one for the 'Pretend it didn't happen' guys. Pretty daft.

So they should use their least viewed show to pull the trigger on a potential feud right now just because you want to see it? Xtian's back in the E. Let em build it up. Don't blow your wad so soon, if you want to see it so bad go watch their midcard feud.

I don't know how to respond to this...
I guess there are a lot of things I want to see WWE do, we all have our own ideas, I'm sure.
The only reason I chose Superstars was because its the only multi branded show, so Christian showing up on RAW or Edge showing up on Smackdown wouldn't be right so quick after the draft.
I guess they can interfere in each other's pay-per-view matches...
but the thing about that is I don't see Christian making it to many pay-per-view matches. This was probably why I was jumping the gun.
Matt Striker called Christian a "blue chip" tonight...
Is feuding with Drew McIntiyre/MVP/Kane/Kofi Kingston or basically anyone else on Smackdown minus Undertaker or Big Show or Jack Swagger (only because he is a current Champion) really going to elevate Christian? I don't think so. He can put on good matches with the mid carders, but it just adds to his mid card credibility. He should have a major star to be working with right now. Whether it be Orton, Edge, Cena, Jericho, or 'Taker.
Now maybe Superstars wasn't the right platform for me to suggest, but I still think this would have been the right time to set up a nice Summer long feud.
I just don't get why they chose to run the Edge/Christian segment tonight when it probably won't lead to anything right now... just to establish Edge as a heel and Christian as a face? They could have done that in many different ways.
I'm just an upset mark right now... don't agree with giving the number one contendership to Big Show while Christian seems to get nothing again. I guess I'll be patient

<font color=goldenrod>I don't mind the whole thing with them no longer being brothers. Much like Steph suddenly being married to Triple H again, there is really no harm in it because EVERYBODY knows anyway.
I actually liked the segment. It got things accomplished. It solidified that Edge is back to being a full-fledged heel. It seemed to suggest that Christian will indeed be stepped up to be a legit main event player on SmackDown...possibly even a future champion. And, of course, it also hinted that they may have a match at WM 27. WWE has been known to kick around WM ideas way in advance and tease them extremely early. They are technically on different shows but that hasn't mattered much when it comes to WM.
I liked it, and I saw nothing wrong with teasing it now.</font>

I almost shed a tear tonight at the "break up" between E & C.....almost. I was hoping to see them tag together, say against the Hart Dynasty in the main event. They could put up a great match, but lose in the end, and then have their fight with other afterward.

Christian can compete with the likes of punk and swagger for now. I'd rather see them let the edge vs christian thing play out for awhile, I'm talking a few years, to the point where it's a main event match at a wrestlemania style event. Just keep teasing it so when it happens, it's amazing.

Alrighty, here is what that segment accomplished:
1) It symbolises the changing of the guard. Edge was on his way out, and regardless of if he is a heel or not now, basically it was a "Goodbye Edge, Hello Christian" segment. The idea is that casual fans will now take Christian as a new "Face of SmackDown!."
2) We got to see the tease of energy that there would be for an Edge vs. Christian match. The fans really seemed into their interaction, and the history between the two has now been established as something present, so that we can build to a program between the two. At the very earliest, Bragging Rights could be a place for that, but WrestleMania XXVII seems better -- and hell, even WrestleMania XXVIII, which is rumoured to be in Toronto.
3) Edge properly turned heel. His actions on RAW were pretty obvious, but the reaction he got when he came out was positive. This allowed us to see the "coward" and "liar" that the Edge character ultimately is. Whether or not you agree with the heel turn, him lying to the crowd, attacking Christian from behind, and then bailing on Captain Charisma drew pretty definitive face/heel lines.
Basically, while the two were on the same show for one more night, Michael Hayes used this as an opportunity to use Edge to put over Christian without blowing his wad. Be happy, people.

Just watched the segment. how you guys don't get it amazes me. This was a tremendous piece of work by both men. In a matter of minutes we saw the crowd cheering Edge, booing Christian and then booing Edge and cheering Christian. It solified Christian as a main player on Smackdown and gives Edge more heel amo.
You have to think long term here. we always complain the WWE sucks at long term booking, but look what they did. They are going to build Christian up to where he's not seen as Edge's sidekick anymore and down the line (Mania??) we'll see the feud between the two. If you throw them together right now, you just gt Christian being held back again. Build him up, let him win the strap and then feud with Edge.
Then down the line, that's when you reunite them either as faces or heels.

I can just about guarantee that when Christian wins his first world title, Edge won't have one. We'll see a very telling backstage moment on that ppv.
I don't understand how anyone didn't/doesn't get what the segment aimed to achieve. My only fear is that the crowd seemed a little dead, especially when Christian teased the fued. Will that affect the way a Christian v Edge fued is booked? Could it make the WWE think again about it? I hope not.
But, all-in-all, like others have said, they need to build Christian up so that his resume matches Edge's a little more. A fued with Punk would be a giant step in the right direction.

I just watched it earlier and it truly was a great segment. The crowd kind of killed it though. The moment could have been so much more special if anyone in that crowd even knew that Edge and Christian used to be partners. Case in point: Kelly Kelly in the next match after this segment got a bigger pop than this entire segment.

I don't think the reaction was that bad, truthfully. They popped when they were called to. I think a lot of them were actually really listening in, because it was such a private moment between the two characters. Christian was peeling back the layers to Edge. I didn't really pay attention to Kelly Kelly's pop, but I don't think this segment flopped with crowd heat. Coming out of it, I really want to see an Edge vs. Christian match, and I think that has been teased for the people who aren't up to speed on their history effectively.

lol @ Edge. He was such an intense heel before his injury that when he came back at the Rumble, it was hard for me to believe that people would accept him as a face for even the three months leading up to Mania. Heel Edge is where it's at.

Here we are, a month later...and Christian is buried, and while not in the title picture, Edge still has PPV matches, while Christian hosts a Peep show and was announced to have a tag match with his partner as HORNSWOGGLE.
I guess I just should give up hope of Christian ever being more than a midcarder and...in time... a jobber to the stars.
A lot of people on this board, understandably, thought Christian going back to Smackdown was going to be great. I know its been only a month, but come on.
