"Silent but violent" worked because at that point Benoit never should have been given a mic and dude looked like a guy who would tear your face off or kill his own kid (NOT TOO SOON DAMN IT!)
For me, listening to Scott Steiner say "Holla (or in his case case Hollar) if ya hear me!" was rough.
The crowd chanting "you suck" every time Angle came to the ring and him embracing it at one point as a face got pretty old.
Austin's "what" might be the worst. As an aside, did anyone else feel that WWF required the superstars to start their promos with "Let me tell you something..." in the early 90s.

Same could be said for Austin, and "what" as opposed to "thats the bottom line, cause stone cold said so".

Saying Really is just part of the David Spade Gimmick. His "Awesome" catchphrase is terrible, but saying "Really?" isn't supposed to get a reaction in and of itself.

"What" is to Austin, what "Really" is to the Miz. It works with Miz and doesn't irritate so much as he's meant to be that whiny style heel. Yet Austin didn't need to turn into a mong.
I'd say "brother". Hogan caned the fuck out of that like he did with WCW ratings. But then again, I like Seamus' "Fella"... twisted indeed.
I gotta go with R-Truth's "What's Up" as that fucks me off right now and I can't for the life of me think of anythin else.

I'll admit... I hated the "what" chant with a passion cause it just seemed so stupid.
BUT at the house show I was at Sunday... Kozlov had the mic and was talking in Russian or something I think. And every time he paused the crowd would chant "what" and I think only in cases where you don't know what the hell the guy is saying... that's when it's relevant and is actually good. Same when Das Carras or however you spell his name was on the mic talking in Spanish. Nobody knew what he was saying so they gave him the "what?" treatment as well.
But when it's overdone for everybody... that's when it gets stupid.

I don't know what you guys are talking about, Konnan and Scott Steiner's catchphrases were awesome.
For me, the worst are:
Hardcore Holly - "How do you like me now?"
Steven Richards - "I'll show you, you'll see."

I agree with the whole Konnan bit, all he ever talks about is random stuff and no one understands him. what's the crack with hooty hoo?
Idk if this was one, Booker T once used "Who?" as his catchphrase to counter "What?". What's the point?

What about Ernest "the Cat" Miller "Somebody bettah call my momma"
Though Rosey and Jamal were a big guys Bischoff saying " You have 3 minutes" - when they were 3 minute warning
Norman Smiley's "Big Wiggle" - not really a catchphrase just something the commentators dubbes his little dance move thingy
I loved the Cat for a while actually, especially when he had Torrie give him a quick lap dance lol.
So the first two worst catchphrases in wrestling named in the thread were 'Do you smell what the Rock is cookin'?" and "What?".

In a title match, whenever a wrestler attempts a cover, Michael Cole without fail always says '(insert championship) title on the line.
Not so much a catchphrase, more one of the most annoying things I have ever heard. I swear, he says it at least once EVERY title match!
